delete the partition after a failed installation of windows 10

Hello world

How is it possible to delete partitions, if in disk utility, there is no possibility to click on the '-' key?

So I made a failure (several) attempts to install windows 10 on my new iMAC.

I could download an ISO of windows and start the bootcamp assistant.

In the last attempt of last night, I selected the bootcamp in windows installation partition, however, installing windows said it was impossible to read the hard drive.

I then re-formatted this partition (BOOTCAMP) in the installation of windows, and after that, still could not read.

Then, I deleted the bootcamp partition in windows and re-created a partition on "unallocated space" in the windows installation.

Installing windows 10 still wouldn't move forward then I've bailed out and went back to OS X with the hope of turning it back on (again) by deleting partitions.

I was unable to delete the Mac partition.

Then, I deleted this partition (the one original bootcamp) and reformatted as OS x journaled. At least now, I can see the Partition.

However in Diskutil, I was then impossible to delete this Partition. There is also a small partition 16 MB that cannot be erased.

Wizard bootcamp will be past a pop up station: the startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.

So I will now try to delete these partitions (the boy and the training camp original one) merge into the original and give then installing bootcamp, another go when I have a lot of energy!

any help would be appreciated. I'm a little cautious to use Terminal command lines for fear of ruining my new computer.

1. your iMac has a Fusion drive?

2. don't mix to disk utility and Wizard of BC. They can lead to a host of issues.

3. If you do not typos in the Terminal, they provide much more rich in detail. You have a Time Machine backup, put in place?

4 can you post the output of the following Terminal commands?

diskutil list

Cs diskutil list

sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

sudo fdisk/dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt to enter your password, and there do not appear to come back. You can also see caution against improper use 'sudo' and the potential loss of data due to an "abuse" of the order.

    Hi rlsajs,

Is it a custom computer or pre-built as a HP, Dell, etc. ?
Is your USB keyboard? If so, you may need to enable "bios powered" usb in the BIOS of your computer.
By default, many computers are set to "Operating System" controlled USB which means that your keyboard does not work entirely until Windows has started, and you need it to work before Windows started as you go through the Setup for a new installation.
Hope this helps and answer back with questions. If you need help getting into the BIOS of your system you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer.

  • Impossible to delete the partitions or format C

I have a mobile shadow Smart Power (a special Aldi 2004), which comes with no hidden restore disc, but it has a much utility and disk etc. drive OEM drive.  I need to reformat C and reinstall XP Home... nothing seems to work - after surfing several hours for a reply and try to all the ones I found!  I can not get an option to format using disk management, because it is grayed out, and if I use the disc provided as a boot disk, I can't delete the partition as it says that it is in use / mounted.  Can anyone help please... as I suspect that the XP disc resembles C and just by looking at him, he believes that it is in use, so it will not let me delete the partition or format C.  I don't know how to get around this problem with the discs that I have... and experience tells me that shadow are desperate for assistance to the user, so there is probably no point of contact with them.

All I can understand about shadow is that it was an Austrian company which has since been bought by a Taiwanese company and has almost no information available online support (although there seems to be quite expensive telephone support lines).

You cannot remove or format the system partition (the one where Windows) of Windows.  This is why there are bootable CD installation/restoration of the system, the idea being that if you run with an operating system on the CD, you can do what you like on the hard drive.

Your drive "OEM", is supposed to be a system restore disk or just a collection of software and drivers?

If it is a restore disk, when you start from it, it should just restore the computer to its original state, or at least give you an option to do so.

Can you describe the screens that appear when you start from your OEM drive?

  • Delete the partition created in reformatting/reinstall for A50

Then when I got my Toshiba Satellite A50, he had no partition that I knew of, just a drive C with XP installed on it. But the disk that it came with to reformat the hard drive and reinstall XP is creating a partition!

So it's not the original or set up installation I've had... I have an external hard drive, I don't want a partition.

How can I delete the partition? I'm ready to completely reformat the entire hard drive again, but if so, how do I that?

The Toshiba CD doesn't really give me a prompt to go reformatting the hard drive me...

The other annoying, that of my C drive is NTFS, but the disc creates a drive NTFS and FAT32 other... too... which is really scary, is when the Toshiba disk loads, it says "loading Windows 98"... to my understanding of my laptop NEVER had 98 on it... I pray that this is not a 98 - xp upgrade. It seems that someone gave me the wrong drive with my laptop computer?

Or am I worrying over nothing?

    Hello Lou

Believe me worry for nothing! Please don t be confused about W98 loading message. The unit starts in DOS mode and it's the same as on W98.

Now step by step explanation: I did the procedure of recovery many times and have a little experience with it.

When starts, CD recovery menu displays with two options: modes of STANDARD facilities and EXPERT. STANDARD mode simply erase the whole HARD drive and creates one partition (the whole HARD disk capacity) for the installation of the OS.
EXPERT mode should be used if you want to install the operating system on already created partition or if you want to create a new partition for the installation of the OS. Note You can create only the first partition it (C :) and you can not edit already created the partition.)

In my opinion, it is always good to have two partitions, one for the operating system and installation and a second for recording data. You might not always drive external HARD with you. If something is wrong at any time, you can install the OS on the first partition without losing the data stored on the other.

Anyway, to start the recovery procedure and choose the recovery STANDARD (option 1) procedure. The whole HARD drive will be formatted and Os will be installed on a partition.

Bye and if you have any other questions please write again.

  • Deleted the partition using a portable drive now computer part starts, it says: no media present

    Original title: Start-up aid

Well, then I got the bluescreen 0cx000021c yesterday and got during windows startup. I think it is a blue screen of material, if I'm wrong?

Which is probably my HARD drive that I got a response from here somewhere, and the guy said it was probably a faulty HARD drive.

I had to get my data from the school of my pc, so I can send my laptop MSI for repairs. I could not find a way to copy my D drive on my drive externel but tried Diskpart to clean everything first, and maybe put it on the C drive D drive, hoping that I could do a clean install without losing the files of my D drive.

Now to the problem. I feel really stupid to do so, especially to be a 1st year in a COMPUTER at the College course. I use Diskpart and I accidentally this is cleaned up, and I cleaned my table of partition or something like that. So now all my partitions are parties, I have read that maybe my files still on my laptop just my scores have disappeared.

Now I can't get to the CMD, at the start of my laptop, it says there is no media and then goes to BIOS. I tried a cd Hirensboot, but he repeats to me without media present I also put on Cd/DVD boot first priority

    Hi TonSchepers,

You deleted the partition, it would be extremely difficult to recover data. You may need to use some third-party data recovery software to get your data.

Third party WARNING: Using third-party software can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

If your computer is under warranty, please consider the manufacturer. If this is not the case, try these suggestions.

Remove the hard drive of this computer and connect it to a working computer. Check if it detects the hard drive. If it detects, see if you can back up your data on this computer.

Try to format the hard drive using another computer and connect it to your computer and check if detects also in the computer.

Note: Formatting the hard drive, you erase the data on this subject.

Hope that the information provided is useful. Do not respond if you need more help.

  • DELETE THE PARTITION

I've got 2 hardrives installed on my HP Pavilion DV8T. I'm trying to reformat the second drive, which is an old hard drive from an old HP. As such, it has two partitions. I managed to format the partitions, but I am trying to delete the partition smaller recovery and for some reason it wont let me. I tried Paragon Partition Manager, and it keeps telling me to reboot to complete the operation, my pc restarts and crashes on a screen with a bunch of code that I don't recognize. Can someone tell me exactly how to delete this partition?

And why HP makes so friggin hard to access the system you paid the money? I know what I'm doing with my computer in general. I am so sick and tired of having to work around the system locks because HP has decided to stop me from having full access and control over my hardware and software. It's extremely aggravating.

No, I tried to delete the partition of secondary recovery off HD 1, leaving only partition with all the readers of free space it contains.  One of my friends showed me that I had to use the windows itself, Disk Manager program because Windows 7 was blocking Paragon Partition Manager to access the drive. Once, I deleted the partition with program management built-in drive to W7, the free space immediately added to the other partition on the disk.

Simply go to control panel and use the built-in in Windows 7 itself drive management utility. I formatted both partitions on HD 1 and then deleted the second smaller partition. This free space of the partitions has been added to the main partition and HD works correctly since.

  • Help, please.  Need to delete the partition.

I searched a lot and do not know that I find what I need.

I have a MBP with OS x 10.6.8.  I'm under VMWare Fusion 2.0.8.  I used to use it for work, but now can log on my work computer at home and have not run the Windows partition in over a year.  My HD had inflated and has only 7 GB free.  I want to delete the partition in VMWare so that OS x can use this 15 GB.

I found this set of instructions to search for the file in the finder:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC & docType = kc & ocTypeID d = DT_KB_1_1 & externalId = 1007599

And this instruction set seems to indicate I should just drag the file from the finder to the Trash:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = Display KC & externalId = 1017838

And then I'll have access to this part of the HD.

    I'm on the right track?

Thanks in advance for any help

    RE: Remove the Partition "Recovery."

I use no Dell DataSafe. There is a partition "recovery" on the boot drive takes about 8% of disk space total and this 'recovery' of 8% partition, about 40% of the space is used. The "recovery" partition has a drive letter assigned to it.

    Hello

    EPSA takes about 2 GB

We recommend custom delete whatever it is, or its possible. Delete all or nothing, as there are chances of file corruption.
