Delete the search bar

I can type my search in the address bar. Why do I need a separate search beside him bar? How can I get rid of him? And I can't find the RSS FEED button more. And yet one thing - your "Help button" should be replaced by a box 'he is NO help... "

"Now you know a way to control the length of the URL address box. Does not seem a thingie adjust at the end."

This control is rendered inoperative when the address bar and search bar are no longer in their original position. You can use code userChrome.css to fix the length or the address bar.

 #urlbar {
max-width: 600px !important;
}

Use whatever number you want for the size of the window of the address bar.

If you do not know the 3 'user' files can be used in Firefox, it is easier to use this extension to add this code in the userChrome.css file.

  • You can use the search bar to choose the cookies / then 'remove all cookies' only delete them?

    Sometimes, I want to delete cookies that accumulate from a specific Web site, so I use the search bar. If 'remove all cookies' is clicked after the search bar using, only those who remain the search will be deleted, or will be deleted all cookies - including those outside the research -? Thank you.

    Using Firefox 27.0.1

    I tested it, and only the cookies that show in the result window are deleted if you click on delete all Cookies.

    Clear the search bar through the icon on the far right, showed that other cookies are still there.

    Note that it is generally safer select all cookies that you want to delete and press the DELETE key or click Remove Cookies to avoid deleting all cookies.

  • AOL have diverted the search bar, deleted all the other engines and disabled the reset.

    I noticed that at some point today the search bar was reset to aol. I removed aol in the bar, but now there is NO option to search engine. All done malware also deleted all other options in search bar, disabled by default reset settings and seems to have deleted the folder of drive C search plugins. I tried an add-on to restore the default choice, but it didn't work. I tried to reset Firefox and a system restore. None worked. I copied the folder searchplugins from a backup, but that has not changed anything. I don't see a new Mozilla Firefox folder (34) as indicated in some other threads. I looked into: config and there are new things for aol it but I do not know how to remove them or what, if anything should replace them.

The uninstall feature does not completely uninstall Firefox because it does not delete my favorites who are all still present. The first symptom of a problem was an error message, the first fix I tried was reinstalling Firefox without uninstalling first. • Miss me the search bar on ff33

    I used ff21 for a long time because when I logged on ff30, nothing worked in a way I could understand. After a lot of questions and looking for ways to make it work for me, I gave up and returned to ff21. I would have used a newer version, but 21 was the highest that I had saved.

    A few days ago I reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate and started to the acquire a lot of my programs work and funds icons/files all at the same time, do these things from the internet that required immediate attention rather.

    Today, I discovered that I have no research or ff33 bar. Can't find it!
    Up I would appreciate it if there was an answer to this dilemma and I thank you in advance for any help you can provide

    It is possible you have click right on the search bar and select the «Remove from...» ».
    «Delete from...» "moves the item selected in the palette to customize.
    "Go to the Menu" or "Move to the toolbar" moves an item to or from the '3' dropdown menu Firefox button bar.

    I personally keep the search bar in the bar '3' Firefox menu button in the drop-down list to see more of the URL in the address bar.
    Note that the shortcut Ctrl + K will open the "3-bar" Firefox menu button in the drop-down list with the emphasis on the search bar, if you place the search bar in this area.

  • I am unable to Type or use the keyboard in Firefox 18.0 anywhere, including the search bar and URL bar. How should I fix this?

    I am unable to type anything or use the keyboard to type in Firefox. I use Firefox 18.0 installed on Windows 7.
    I am able to paste in the URL bar and the search bar, but absolutely not able to type in it.
    I already tried the 'reset' option but are still unable to type.
    Also tried Firefox in safe mode with disabled addons but are still unable to type.
    Install a new copy of firefox after Firefox uninstall and delete the old "Mozilla Firefox" in windows folder. but always impossible to type.
    Please tell me a solution to this.

    Have you tried restarting the computer?

    It is possible that you have activated the keyboard by chance to one who does not work in Firefox.

    Windows remembers the setting by application keyboard layout and you have probably changed the keyboard by accident via a keyboard shortcut.

    • Make sure you have the language bar visible on the Windows taskbar
    • You can do this via the context menu of the taskbar: toolbars > language bar
    • Check the language setting (keyboard) keyboard for the application that has focus via the icon in the language bar
    • You need to do that while Firefox has focus because Windows remember the keyboard by application setting

    Control Panel > regional and Language Options > keyboards and languages > change keyboards > advanced key settings > change key sequence

  • Google and Wikipedia and possibly other search engines, have suddenly disappeared as a choice in the search bar

    I'm fairly certain that Google has always been my default search engine when you search using the address bar, but it has been switched to Yahoo Search.

    I tried to follow the suggestion to open the box to "Manage search engines" and clicking on the button "Restore default settings", but the button is grey and inactive. I then installed the SearchReset 0.2 Add on, which had another solution found in the recommended Firefox Help. This changed my homepage on the default setting and deleted Yahoo as search engine when you use the address bar (even if the research is now not possible at all here), but it has not reset the search somehow bar, and Google and Wikipedia are not always listed as a choice. Also, search Reset didn't uninstall properly said, as he is still listed as an add-on, even if the description on the homepage SearchReset says that this will happen automatically.

    I mention also that, at the same time, the search bar, difficulties began, the 2.2.2 ForecastFox add-on has stopped working and has disappeared from the status bar, but I was able to restore by disabling everything first and then allowing him once again. Also, until I was able to restore ForecastFox, Firefox would crash, whenever I clicked on "Manage search engines", but this crash has not happpened for ForecastFox has been restored. Weird!

    Dear GBinHoosick

    All of a sudden all my search engines by default FireFox search missing. Sweet Im has been replaced... The fix for me was quite simply after a search for hours for many who did not.

    I went to C: program Files\MozillaFirefox... I noticed there are two folders that says SearchPlugins, which was empty, and Searchplugins (2) which contains all of the default values, Google, Yahoo etc. I copied these Searchplugins (2) of and stuck looking for Plugins and the problem resolved.
    Hope this works for you too

  • When I click on the URL bar or the search bar, it is not select the text or show the cursor as before.

    AS says the question, when I clicked on the search bar in previous versions, 'Google' would disappear and I would see the blinking cursor. When I click on the URL to a blank tab, he would choose the text, and I'd see a slider when I typed or backspaced to delete the selected text. Now, none of this happens.

    After a bit of troubleshooting, it seems that any theme I use is causing this problem.

    In the previous version of Firefox, I used the exact same plugins modules and the theme and never had this problem.

    I went thru and I tried to disable all the modules and plugins, and if I run in safe mode, I have the same result. None of the modules or plugins causes this. It seems to be a theme that I use that causes this.

    As I said in my original question, it happened with any theme, I used. Some changed the color, some are not.

    This can be locked, unless someone else has the same problem and wants to continue to use Firefox 15 or more.

    I went back to an earlier version. Unless they add the ability to change this absurd, useless, counterintuitive behavior, I don't "upgrade" any time soon.
