Deleted bookmarks reappear in Safari?

Hi, I just bought a new Mac so I'm now sell or recycle my old computer (OS x 10.6.5) but I have a slight problem. I want to erase my favorite (and saved passwords) Safari before I sell it, but in the past when I removed or deleted a few bookmarks that they later come back by themselves for no apparent reason! Before I sell my Mac, I want to make sure that the bookmarks (and saved passwords) are permanently erased from Safari. It is import altogether that some of my pages to a bookmark are age restricted nature and if someone too young ends up top after sale it will be irresponsible if bookmarks reappear!

Does anyone know why they returned before and I have to do to make sure that it is not?

Thanks for your help.

Try to erase the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

    Hello

A month ago I spent a few hours in compensation to my bookmarks on Firefox. I deleted at least a couple of hundreds of bookmarks - duplicates and is no longer relevant. Earlier, all my deleted Favorites reappeared in my list and bookmarks toolbar. How can I cancel it?

I finally solved it by brute force. Whenever deleted bookmarks back, I'm going to "' bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > restore" and select the last backup without the new bookmarks. "

After that, I immediately force a sync (click on the circular button with two arrows next to your name on the new menu Burger shit) which seems to ensure that the server accepts the deletions.

It is not ideal because you can lose bookmarks in this way, but as far as I can tell there is no way to really manage what is on the server, or what is synchronized without playing these games.

  • How to delete bookmarks

    to delete bookmarks

    Long-tap the bookmark - Remove

Using the recommended procedure - click on the stars to open the dialog box, then click on delete bookmark - still does not work. It some but leaves removed others still in place. I accidentally deleted on my bookmark folders and I would like to know how can I restore it?

If you've accidentally deleted bookmarks, then use "organize > Cancel ' in the Bookmark Manager (Bookmarks > show all bookmarks) to recover.
Hold the button is the first of three buttons next to the back and forward buttons on the toolbar in the library (Bookmark Manager).
That only works if you have not closed Firefox.
If it does not work so that you can restore bookmarks from a JSON backup in the folder bookmarkbackups.

    • Bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > restore

This will replace all current bookmarks and you lose the favorites that have been added since the backup was created.

  • When I try to bookmark, I get to the place 'delete bookmark '. Why?

I tried to bookmark the following website, http://www.indianarailwaymuseum.org/index.html, but when I type 'bookmark this Page', instead I get "delete bookmark". If I go to bookmarks > Bookmarks Toolbar > bookmarks Menu, then click on I can find in among a few old deleted and present favorites this site, but I want to put in the folder of bookmarks to my wife so that she can easily access. One of my bookmark folders is one just for stuff from my wife. Is the site in a way to not let me bookmark?

If you get "Delete bookmark" then this means that there is already a bookmark with this URL.

You should make a copy of this bookmark if you want it to appear in a different folder.

You can do this via the context menu or organize menu in bookmarks (Library Manager; Bookmarks > show all bookmarks)

I want to just delete bookmarks. The suggested procedure says to go to the bookmarks menu and select organize bookmarks. Opens the 'library', and then you select the folder that contains the bookmarks that you want to remove. But the bookmarks that I want to delete are not in the files and they are not listed in the "library" window

"I found a way to list them in the window of the library, but I don't know how to choose a group of them and delete them all at the same time."

Once listed in the right pane of the library window, right hand pane, press and hold CTRL while clicking on those you want to remove, release CTRL when you select what you want to remove, then carefully with the right button on one of the highlighted items and select 'Delete', all highlighted items should disappear in the right pane. entries not marked will remain in the right pane.

  • I deleted files reappear?

Yesterday, I deleted 2 folders that were in a series of files on my desk. Today, I replaced these two deleted folders and their content with 2 new files containing new documents. However, the opening of 1 of them newly created folders, I found 1 set of my old documents inside. I'm positive, I deleted the folder containing their origin & not to rename which would explain this strange appearance. Outside the human error that could have caused this? It is worth noting that when I deleted the original documents in the folder & it is, I used the shift + delete option to remove it permanently. To give a better idea of what this scenario looked like I show below.

Mike Documents (record office), in this context it is a "school stuff" folder, that had 2 other folders containing documents OpenOffice 2 each. As stated above I used the shift + del option to remove the two sub folders which were under "school stuff" if their content were permanently deleted, or so I thought. Today, after the creation of 2 new folders where the 'old' resided after opening 1 of them, I discovered that it contained two documents OpenOffice who had seized record. I checked the subfolder "school stuff" next to this 1 and she doesn't have the content of the previous files. It was just 1 in particular, unfortunately I have once again removed without trying to open the recurring documents inside or even virus, analysis of the file in question. Although I am positive, my computer does not have a virus, in addition these documents contained nothing but school Associates vocabulary and notes.

Once more perhaps more be my own mistake & simply rename the old folder rather than delete; How could a set of old, deleted documents reappear in a new folder?

Please, back up all data before proceeding.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination:

    ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist

    Quit Safari.

    Select

    Go ▹ go to folder

in the Finder menu bar. Paste it into the text box that opens by pressing Command + V, then press return.

A folder window should open with a file named "Bookmarks.plist" selected. Move the selected file to the desktop, leaving the file open.

Restart Safari. It will open with the default set of bookmarks. Remove them all. Select

Importing files ▹ ▹ bookmarks HTML file... (or import bookmarks...)

in the Safari menu bar. Import from the file of bookmarks that you moved to the desktop. Bookmarks will appear in a new folder with a name that starts with 'Imported' and ends with the date. Organize them as you wish.

If Safari is now running normally, you can remove the old bookmarks file. Otherwise, quit Safari again and replace the file that you moved, instead of the more recent of the same name. Close the Finder window and display your results.
