Deleting CAB files to save space

Is it safe to remove the CAB of my repertoire to C:\MSOCache\All Users files?

As far as I know, it is used to add or remove products from microsoft office when you click Repair/change option in Add or remove programs list.

I suggest you use the disk cleanup utility and check if it allows to save space.

    Hello

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Communities.

According to the description of the problem, it seems that you try to remove the cab files.

You can remove the old data1.cab install files if you know what they contain or if the program that is used to rely on them more.

Important: If you remove a version of that file which depends on program, you may not be able to start this program or use wisely.

Please follow these recommended steps and post if you still experience the problem.

Looking just a little further. The. The CAB files are more than likely a compressed version of an installation for the application PDF printer file mentioned in the directory names. Language files are probably just the installation files in these languages. If you be now able to make an informed choice about whether if they can be deleted. I would say 'Yes', but the final decision is yours.

  • Time Machine - I have masses of free space, but Time Machine keeps deleting old files - why?

Time Machine - I have masses of space free (about 2.5 TB) but time machine keeps deleting files of more than nine months. Is there a parameter limiting that I don't know?  My backup drive is a 4 start Drobo drive.  I have everything works fine except this irritating issue.  Any ideas out there?

    Hello Mike Oscar.

I hope that I am able to help you with your concern today. If I understand you correctly, in Time Machine, files of more than 9 months are deleted. Time Machine to save space. I'm not sure if Apple is allowing us to extend this period to 12 months or even 16 months, but it would be a great recommendation. I hope I could help you with your concern.

  • Can I delete my PC *.cab files?

I'm running out of space on my hard drive and noticed that a nice piece of memory is used for my cab files.  Some are installation of iTunes files, some files from Disk Cache in my i386 directory.

    Any thoughts?

How much is "a nice piece"?  Deleting files because you are low on hard disk space is a futile effort.  Buy a larger hard drive.  They are very cheap these days, and most come with a free software that allows you to clone your existing to the new disk drive.  If you can't at least temporarily to install a second drive in your computer, you can buy a cheap connected by USB (or eSATA if your computer supports) external hard drive enclosure.  When you are done with the cloning operation, you can use your old drive in the external box for backup.

    With regard to your questions:

Regarding the files related to iTunes, you can, as suggested by NoMo, ask an Apple forum.  Or you can identify exactly where these files are located, and what makes you think they are installation of iTunes files.  I have the remains of 7 or 8 latest installations of iTunes on my old XP machine, but no iTunes don't cab files.  Most probably, you can remove safely iTunes install files.  If it turns out that the files that you delete actually required by iTunes for execution, you can always download and install the latest version.

On the other hand, deleting files from the i386 is a bad idea, unless you have a genuine Windows XP installation CD.  If you're dead set on the removal of the files in this directory, I strongly suggest that you burn all the directory on a CD first.  Sometimes the files in c:\i386 (or C:\Windows\ServicePackFile\i386) are needed to replace a damaged operating system file.  It doesn't happen very often, but if this happens and you have deleted the files, you will be very unhappy.

  • What does not compress files to save disk space?

    Original title: compress the disc

Hi, I'm not very good with computers. in any case, I see in 'Properties' to the local c drive, there is an option to "compress files to save disk space", or something like that. I want to create more space on my disk, so io should do? It will have harmful effects on what it is? can it be undone? anything else I should know about it?

    Thank you very much

    brand

He was never a good idea to compress a drive.

Some system files and folders don't like it, and if there is a problem with the drive, it will be more difficult to work on the problem. If you have a problem with a compressed drive, after he went on half capacity, it becomes incredibly difficult as the first, must unpack the drive, and if there is not enough space on the disk, decompression does not.

    In my opinion? Do not...

  • How to save and delete the file

Hi, I'm really confused on how to use my computer. When I save the files that they disappear. Say if I record a song that it does not record the "music" file I only find under downloads. I also have a bunch of pictures I want to delete and I don't know how. Also open PDF files full screen and I don't want them that way. How can I fix it? :(

When you delete a file from your computer, it is actually just moved to the trash, where it is temporarily stored until the Recycle Bin is empty. This gives you an opportunity to recover accidentally deleted files and bring back them to their original location.

  • Creative cloud says I am out of space, even after deleting all files from archive

So earlier today, I ran out of space in the creative clouds. I went to archive and deleted all files (archives are now totally empty).

I have some files left in the Cloud, but they occupy only 3.18 GB. In any case, the cloud always said I used 100% of my storage space of 20 GB and I get the "out of storage" error message when you try to synchronize new files!

    Hey,.

So I was legitimately deal with this, but I thought about it.

Apparently, anything you download is checked and it does not show in your desktop folder.

If you connect to your cloud to Adobe online, you can go to 'Archived' under 'Files' and delete everything again.

I don't know if you can disable archiving, but it does not work. I was able to download a * after hours of not being able to file.

    I hope this helps!

Only solution is umount the point of editing or the db bounce. It is because of 'SEMAPHORE '.

Semaphores are sharable resources who take a non-negative integer value. They are manipulted by the P (waiting) and V (signal) functions that decrement and increment the semaphore, respectively. When a process needs a resource, a "waiting" is issued and the semaphore is decremented. When the semaphore contains a value of zero, the resources are not available and the calling process turns or blocks (if applicable) until resources are available. When a process opens a resource controlled by a semaphore, it increments the semaphore and the waiting process are advised.

  • iCloud backups / file management / free space

I have trouble managing the use of space in my icloud account.

I find it very intuitive and difficult to understand exactly what I am to be invited to do everything by managing the settings.

In other words, I find some options very unclear.

Signature in icloud on my mac through chrome browser, I am told that I use 4.4/5 GB.

It is stated that most of this is my iPad.

I suspect that most are backups of my real-world applications.

There is nothing else I backup via iCloud.

and I don't even save most of the data in applications.

I usually back up on my mac and remove the actual data of the apps to save space on my pad.

I tried to remove some of the saved app data

but it has released only a few KB.

When, on the ipad, I go to:

    Settings-> iCloud-> storage management

and goes off a few backup app, as I said, not useful space is released.

All this used a space could be due to many throughout the system to the top of the iPad.

But there seems to be no option to remove individual backups, only to stop iPad backup completely and remove the content FULL of all my backups [or, for "extra space"-"ideally"):]

In addition, it seems impossible to manage this through iCloud.com on my browser on mac OS x.

It seems that I have to use my iPad, which is also unnecessary in this case.

I prefer to manage it via my computer, using the keyboard and mouse and a respectable real file management interface; rather than some indigestible, imprecise, difficult to navigate, near-useless, icon-business, as it is.

If anyone can help diagnose me exactly how much space is used,

and how I can release disk space without having to stop my system backup and removing all existing backups together in order to have space [which seems completely redundant and the purpose of defeating]

.... I'd highly appreciate such opinions.

As a note on the side of criticism; I really find the iOS any system file management, with its 'fun icon' interface approach, but almost zero - control and utility in terms of management of files, to be very tedious / frustrating / tedious.

Why not give me a "finder" style access to file systems; so I can see clearly what is in place, I can remove, etc.

Sorry if this is State the obvious; but; in all there are no such problems with android and google reader.

iOS has been closed like that since the first day. If you want or need a file system, you will need to use an Android device. Your comment has no value here. Apple does not take its direction from remarks made here.

You can send your comments to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

iCloud.com is not designed to handle files, only the content.

From your iPad itself, go to settings > general > storage & use iCloud > iCloud > Storage manage and look in the section of backups . You should see backups that you created and its size, on iCloud for your iPad. Tap on your iPad and there is an option to delete the backup here.

Your applications are not in your backup. They are stored on the App store, where they can be downloaded again if necessary. Toggling off the coast of the backup of the data of the App has questionable value because it is only of data an application creates, not the application itself. If you share an Apple ID with anyone or any other device, their content goes to iCloud as well. 5GB allowance is per Apple ID, not per device.

  • If I delete the files in iCloud will be they deleted from my computer as well?

"I get the message" your iCloud-storage space is almost full.

I can delete some folders from iCloud, but removing in iCloud will also remove the original from my computer?

    Thank you

If you have the Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud drive in market, any file you save in iCloud drive automatically saves a local copy on your record player iCloud on your Mac, and it synchronizes to iCloud by car to https://www.icloud.com/

If you delete the file or the other place that will not delete automatically from both locations.

  • Hidden in iCloud after deleting the files

    Hello

Anyone out there has experience with iCloud, keep the files after the deletion, which is also after they have been deleted 30 days backup archives under "advanced / restore files" and therefore do not appear anywhere on the computer nor on iCloud.com?

What I mean is, someone has experience with iCloud, keep the files 'behind' the visible interface that is 'hidden', maybe some sort of more of security? In this case, to see how long and how we take control/area of this feature?

    A few details:

    -I run on a MacBook Pro 13 "(primo 2015) retina 10.10.5 Yosemite"

-I don't have any other Apple products (no iPhone, no iPad)

For more details, I refer to this thread: How to remove raw files imported in photos?

A summary of my problem posted on the thread that the above:

-With the help of the Photos App, I imported about 90 GB of photos taken in RAW + JPEG

-These photos appear stacked/paired with the ability to switch between the two formats (this is how the program works if you import the files at the same time, and I find this very smart feature)

-In order to save space, I would like again to remove the pictures (of the least most of them) and re - import only JPEG files

-Since it is not possible to remove only one of the two formats (i.e. RAW format or JPEG file), because they are combined/stacked, I proceed by removing the photos completely

-After removing it, I go to the "Recently deleted", album where the photos removed from the Photos App are kept for 30 to 40 days, and I make sure to empty this album (i.e. to remove the photos immediately); they should then be gone

-I'm going to iCloud.com to verify that the photos were also deleted, including the title of the function ' Advanced/Restore of files.

-J' I even leave system 'stabilize' for a while, up to two days, before I go any further (just to make sure that all current synchronization is complete)

-J' have now re - import my JPEG files (separate from the RAW files and isolated on a separate external hard drive that I use only for transfers)

-Now, there are two different scenarios:

    (1) if I unplug my iCloud photo library, all right, that is now I have only my JPEGs and have saved space (each RAW file taking up about 5 times more disk space than the same photo in JPEG);

    (2) if I connect my iCloud photo library and then, after 1-2 minutes to the maximum, the RAW files reappear, i.e. the photos I had deleted and re-imported as JPEG only now appear as stacked/combined (RAW + JPEG) once again, taking up exactly the same space as before: (previously attached) RAW files are to be re-imported to Photos of iCloud where they should be gone!

-My conclusion: since the problem appears only when I am connected to iCloud (where the files are not visible), and I have no other Apple devices where these photos might be from synchronization, I must conclude that iCloud keeps the files deleted somehow "hidden."

-Apple Support was not able to help with this problem, that's why I'm looking for a solution here

-It is important for me to know if importing photos to my MacBook (while using iCloud services/backup) is a reversible action or not and to know any limits on my own control over my files - not just for the pictures I have already imported, but also in general and regarding my future use of this program.

Thank you in advance if anyone can spread some light on this problem!

    T ture.

    Hello

I hope that I have a problem of understanding to the right place!
For me the icloud unfortunately also does not work properly.

Deleted images seem to be always available.

iCloud photo library flaw is always available
