deleting files in drive d

I'm unable to delete files in my drive d. I never created them I do not know where they cam since I am the only user... I tried to change the property... nothing works... any ideas on how to remove them?

The first question is do you really want to delete them?  They could very well be the recovery partition put there by the manufacturer of the computer so that you can restore your system to the factory settings in the event of a disaster any.  This may be your only way to recoverting operating system (although they usually give you instructions on how to make the disks of both recovery - what you need to do).  If this is the case, do NOTHING to this partition - do NOT delete files, add files, defragment the partition, scan of the partition or any other thing.  If you have already done so, contact the manufacturer of your computer to ask them how to cancel whatever it is that you did there.  Usually, you can tell because this partition is about 8 - 16 GB in size (much smaller than the drive C partition)-, but your computer manufacturer you can tell shot course with your brand, model and serial number.  If you delete this and that is the recovery partition, you will have no way to re - install the operating system should that situation be required (except perhaps if recovery disks you made them or they came with the system)- but still NOT want to remove this image from factory-condition such that it may one day save you when nothing else works.

If this isn't the recovery partition (and I bet it is), then return and we will advise you how to erase the partition of something that "on this subject (there are several options) - but I'm pretty sure it's the recovery partition (partially because of the difficulty you are having to delete the files it contains)."

I hope this helps.

Good luck! Lorien - MCSA/MCSE/network + / A +.

Can I delete files from my iCloud on my MacBook drive and make them stay on iCloud on the web? I want to clear my drive in addition to hard as much as possible.

If you disable iCloud by car, you will be told the local copies of your files will be deleted, but will remain in iCloud.

When you delete them from your iCloud drive, the files will be deleted to iCloud.

iCloud is a synchronization service, not off of storage of the unit.

  • Worried about HARD drive recovery deleted files

    Hello

Recently I deleted files recovery from HARD drive on the second drive hard partitioned on my laptop so I could melt in a hard drive.
After doing so, I realized HDDRecovery can important.

But I'm a little confused if you backed up to DVD/CD I did in any case the same utility?

So I have nothing to fear?

    Hello

HARD drive recovery is a nifty feature that would allow you to recovery of the laptop without the use of the Recovery DVD.
You could simply recover the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive option.

But now it's not possible because you have modified, deleted the partition of HARD disk and therefore, you can only use the recovery disc.

I think it will not copy the files from HARD drive on the new partition recovery, because the previous HARD drive recovery contained some hidden signs and flags that advocates for HARD drive recovery settings

  • How can I delete the copies of the file on drive D (file recovery) duplicate?

I get a message that I can't defragment my my D drive because there only 10% space left free. I checked the file duplicate and it features several duplicates.  I use a program of embroidery and if the files are big enough. I have so far:

deleted files to the trash... they appear and I recycle them and return to the D drive and they are still there
    * put into zip files by category... and back on D drive and they are still there

Your recovery partition D is implemented by the manufacturer of your computer in the event of serious problems in your system.
You use it to restore your system.

You are NOT supposed to touch it... not for nothing to add or remove anything from him.
And ever defragment you a recovery disk.

You call the manufacturer of the computer, tell them the situation...

    1. ask for a set of recovery DVD to reinstall Vista, if you do not have a game made yourself.
    2. ask how to remove files or all the items that are NOT supposed to be there.
They created the recovery partition, they know how to take care of it.
Let them teach how you to.
    3. I hope that you have not used D drive for backup of files. If you do, stop doing it.
Buy an external hard drive and use it for the scheduled backup job files.

  • How to free up space in a drive by deleting files hidden from the previous operating system?

Download a program like TreeSize Free (http://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free/) to see where the files take up a lot of space.  Be aware that deleting files without knowing what you're doing can cause your system to be unable to restart or cause instability can so be sure you know that you are deleting before you start.  There is no way to extend one hard disk other than to replace it, in which case you need to copy all the files from your old drive to the new.

  • Deleting files on hard drive Mac - LR6 - 10.10.3

Well gang... I am a newbie to Lightroom... but... I am developing a workflow that allows me to "reject" or simply delete images - both of my LR catalog and permanently delete files from my external hard drive.

By hitting the DELETE key - I get a dialog box that asks if I want to "Remove" the photo from my LT catalog or "remove disc" which removes the photo of my LT catalog and permanently deletes the photo in my TRASH.

    Screen Shot 2015-06-09 at 12.17.41 PM.png

    What is happening now:

After you have selected a photo, I hit the button "remove disc". Lightroom goes the picture to the TRASH, but she LEAVES also my original photo in my folder from the Finder, in a sense duplicate the photo, leaving the original where it was and put a duplicate in the TRASH. It's not good, I want to permanently delete this file.

With the help of LT6, Mac OSX 10.10.3... I tried to reset privileges (shift-option) with no improvement.

    Any suggestions?

Thank you for the help... Dale

Looks like you already have a copy of the file on your hard drive and Lightroom is removal of one of them. It is possible that you have imported the images into Lightroom uses the 'Copy', which essentially would have copied your pictures in the pictures folder? Your originals may still reside in their original location. Do a search on your computer to make sure that you do not have duplicates.

  • Toshiba Gigastore 250 GB: problems to delete files

    Hi all

I can't delete files from my Toshiba Gigastore more. Whenever I try, the following message appears: "unable to remove. Access denied. Source is probably always open. "

However, the files are not in use when I try to delete. I tried to delete after a reboot and tried as admin. Nothing works.

The problem started to occur after the Gigastore has been disconnected from the computer (hot plugout).

My OS is W2K SP4 (with the latest security updates). The GigaStore didn't work properly from the beginning, because it is not possible to disconnect the USB when the system is running (this problem is known and described in the user manual).

Howe can I overcome the problem without reformat the drive? Maybe it's possible to boot linux and delete files on the GigaStore? Is this desirable, that linux does not seem to get along well with NTFS?

    Many thanks in advance,
    Led

I'm not very familiar with the Toshiba Gigastore.
Well have you tried to remove the USB port on the Device Manager and then reinstall the drivers?
I have never tried this solution, but maybe this will help.

  • Cannot delete files on Hdr-As100v through TDC

Hi, just got my new cam action. plugged into my mac, opened the House of playmemory, but could not remove all the files on the camera. I tried right-clicking on the file, the Remove option and the option rename is gray, don't click.

    can someone please?

With PlayMemories Mobile or PlayMemories host files on the Sony Cam can be deleted. All drives (partitions) are mounted read-only when Sony Cam is connected to your PC.

However, you can remove the SD of the cam and mount/connect card with an SD adapter directly and delete individual files, and also update the AGPS data in even - as this can also be changed only when it is mounted without the cam.

Sony recommends formatting the SD card after you import your videos and photos with PlayMemories House to clean any excess files such as metadata or exif of previous videos and photos allowing you to maximize the storage capacity of the SD card. [1]

Formatting your SD card on your PC allows the format to exFAT - where to format the SD card on your Sony Cam perform only in format FAT32.

After each format SD card, transfer of information AGPS on the SD card. What Sony Cam connected to the PC directly on the SD card is read-only. Follow the steps below:

    • Remove the cam Sony SD card
    • Connect the SD card directly to your PC
    • Launch PlayMemories Home on Windows or Mac OS X
    • Select Tools > tools for Support of GPS
    • Select the drive letter that corresponds to your Sony Action Cam and press the update now.

  • How to retrieve deleted files from sony cyber shot camera without having to download any software

I accidentally deleted my pictures of sony cyber shot camera... I want to restore their back, it's my favorite holiday photos, how to get hide them without downloading any software, can help anyone

Windows and MacOS don't come with the ability to restore deleted files. If you want to restore deleted files, you need to suppliment your computer with software that can do this. To get this kind of software on your computer, the simplest method is to download it. If you don't want to download it, perhaps you could ask a friend to download it for you and give it to you on a flash drive.

  • I get a message saying startup disk is almost full and to delete files. How can I go about it?

I have a macbook air and a message comes up saying that my boot drive is almost full and delete files to make more space. What files and where? Thank you.

Buy an external hard drive if you do not already have one and migrate personal files, things like documents, music, photos, videos, stuff like that.  Once they are on the external hard drive, delete them from your computer.  You would remove them the same way you would remove any other thing - click it, right-click, select "Move to trash."  Delete nothing however, until you have moved to an external drive.  If you don't save a copy somewhere, once you remove them, it's over and you can't get it back.

To understand what that other things that can be deleted are go up --> about this Mac--> storage.  This will tell you how many you have on your hard drive right now.  Post here a screenshot of it.
