• Dell 948 AIO communication problem since I did the restore to factory Vista settings

  Several weeks ago, I did a factory restore on my Dell ispiron settings count (Vista OS).  Since that time I have a strange problem with printing.  All updates to Windows Vista was installed in the weeks since the restoration and the Vista is underway.

  If I try to print from my own user log on, I get a Dell 948 communication error message advising me to unplug the usb connection or the power cord and restart.  None of this helps.  A copy of this error message can be seen here:

  What is strange to me is that if I log on user account of my wife on that computer I can print it from there without any difficulty.

  Today, I uninstalled the Dell 948 printer driver and reinstalled but no good came of it.  I'm stuck with the same problem.

  If I click on continue - the action is completed successfully, so I must have permission on the right.

• Dell V305 scanner will not convert image to PDF without OCR

  I have a Dell V305 scanner, and I would like to convert images to PDF without running the OCR software.  Is this possible?  When I try to convert an image to PDF, it gives me an error "OCR program missing.   My CD drive is broken so I can't install the OCR from the CD software.  I looked for a download from Dell, but could not find one.   Can you suggest a solution?  Thank you very much

  I never tried to convert images into PDF without OCR. But I've only tried to convert PDFS into images using some PDF conversion tools. I wonder if there is some pluins can thus help with that? You can google it and give it a try. I wish you success. Good luck.

  Original title: cannot access files on a folder on the drive hard usb after you have turned off sharing on a network.

  About a week and a half, I have set up my external hard drive usb to share on my network domestic as well as my brother could access some files on his laptop computer.  I've been playing with the security of some of the files on the hard drive and made sure that he could not access some of them.  I don't remember exactly what I did unfortunately.  After I had changed the security access, I was still able to access all files and my brother could not access it.  He got the files on the hard drive and I turned off my computer.  A few days later, I tried to access the files that I had limited and I was stuck.  When I went back in the drive to recover some files, I received an error "you don't have permission to access this folder.  Click on continue to have access to this folder permanently. "When I click on continue that another dialogue box comes up saying"you refused permission to access this folder.  To access this file you will need to use the Security tab. "I click on the link to Security tab and another dialog box appears asking"to continue, you must be an administrative user with permission to view this object's security properties.  Do you want to continue? "I'm obviously the administrator because I have this computer and I'm the only account on it.  From this point, I don't know what I do or what I'm supposed to do to recover my files.  I played a bit with a couple of things and I was able to get into certain folders, but its an extremely long process that I don't have the time for.  A side effect of which in fact so I can see the files, is that for any movie file, I try to access it, I get an error.  When I try to open it with Windows Media Player, I get the error "Windows Media Player cannot access the file.  The file may be in use (which is not the case), you won't have access to the computer where the file is stored (which is not supposed to because the computer on which it is stored my personal computer), or your proxy settings are may not be not correct (what?). "If I try to use another program like VLC media player, I get a similar problem where an error comes up saying that it was impossible to access the file.  I can see the file and see the properties but I am unable to actually see the film.  I can't move the file anywhere because I don't have administrative rights.  I'm under Windows 7 Ultimate, and if someone could help me please, that would be greatly appreciated.

  I see that this problem is old enough but you (or others) may have problems with it. Here's what I did:
  -Got to your hard drive and right click on the folder that is causing all the trouble.
  -Click on properties.
  -Click on the Security tab
  -Then click on advanced
  -You will see a window with a few user names. Now click on owner in the tabs above.
  -Click on edit, then select the user name you want to open the folder and don't forget to tick the box that says "Replace the owner of subcontainers and objects", then click on apply.
  A pop will come which says something like "You have replaced the property for the selected records" or something in this way. It worked for me and I hope this post is helpful for some people.

  Installed Win7 on a new box. All obtained.  Then, it's time to pass the software/data.
  Get out the hard c of the old XP box drive and he hooked via a Sata to USB connector.

  Now when I open Explorer Favorites/Desktop/libraries are the only thing showing and the icons are going round in circles.

  If I put c:\ in the menu bar I go computer with drive c but not d or H I also get the return of the gray progress bar.

  After about 5 minutes the gray bar crosses, but all the icons are always stirring.
  It was about 20 minutes and still no display, while stirring.

  If I go back, I can sail very well.

  Anyway to use explore to watch my old XP c drive.  Would a bounus if none of the ACL to change also.

  Very frustrating! ... I tried the upgrade to 'El Capitan'. I tried to uninstall and install progs. I have downloaded I require not the same programs.

  All I get after all is 'Sign up' and ' click on continue enjoy software "on a continuous loop.

  It is not easy to understand your problem.
  Rattling noise can be caused by the HARD drive. You hear this rattling noise when HDD LED flashes?

  Can hear you when you leave the laptop for some time without your activity?

  The printer, scanner does not work. Error message "the operation has been cancelled".  Have tried ALL the suggested fixes (uninstall/reinstall) nothing works.  It worked until I upgraded.

  According to the compatibility of Windows 8 with printers Dell printer 948w is incompatible. We can try to install the drivers for Windows 7 in compatibility mode and check if it works.

  If the 64-bit operating system, click here to download and save the drivers for Windows 7 64-bit on the computer and then click here to install the file in compatibility mode.

  If the 32-bit operating system, click here to download and save the drivers for Windows 7 64-bit on the computer and then click here to install the file in compatibility mode.

  Step to be followed after the driver for Windows 7 is downloaded on the computer:

  1. Right-click on the name of the file
  2. On the left, you click Properties.
  3. Click on Compatibility tab, and then check the box for run this program in compatibility mode and change the operating system to Windows 7.
  4. Click on apply and Ok.

  Then install the program on the computer by following the instructions on the screen.

  NOTE: Please do not connect the printer using the USB cable to the computer before installing the drivers.

  So I followed this article for a user to click on all the boxes to click until they could continue. Seems logical, but I found that it does not work and the suggestions was not what I was looking for 9 Captivate.

  This question has been answered several times in this forum.

  You need a variable user for each area of the click, which will be a Boolean variable, default = 0. It will change to 1 when you click on the click box. I suspect you want to leave boxes click activated when they carried out? If not, it could be a simpler solution, let me know.

  Create the button continue and make it invisible to the exit (button look in the properties panel). Create a tip action for each area of the click, which will be a conditional action with two decisions:

  'Always' first decision is a simulated standard action (with the condition "IF 1 is equal to 1' that is always true), assigns the value 1 to the appropriate variable and do any other thing you want to happen when the user clicks the click box

  Second decision "CheckAll" will test if all the variable is set to 1 (combination of conditions with AND), and then view the following button. Here is an overview of such an action, for the first click box, I have only 4 boxes to click, but it is easily edited for more information. For other areas of click, simply change the variable in the first decision (and possibly another command if the click box has do something).

  Check the timeline. Specifically, look at the pause point. In addition, check the measurements of success/failure.   I feel terrible for asking such a simple question here, but I have searched for the answer the afternoon, and I can't find the answer, so please help me!
