  Yesterday, I bought a Dell Inspiron 3847 desk top. I received the message on blue screen "we set up your computer, this may take some time." Then after a few minutes, the computer screen went blue screen to flicker multi colors. I had no choice but to turn the computer off, wait and when I turned the computer back on, I got the message - your account has been disabled and then message defaultuser 0, with message insert key disk to reset. Which of course I did not.

  That's happened?

  I got to Best Buy and they do not know the problem. Also better to buy La Quinta CA gave me a very hard time and accused me of put a virus on the computer. Really, I said I just plug it in and turned on the computer.

  Please notify. I have nothing else, and no information has been placed on the computer.

  You will need to go back to Best buy and talk to a Manager. Your office had a hardware failure or operating system.

• Second hard drive Dell Inspiron 3847

  Can someone direct me for information on the installation of a second hard drive for Inspiron 3847 computer for the purpose of the image upwards using the Acronis True Image Home software upward? There is room for an optical drive, which is totally alien to me, but nothing is said nowhere in the hardware in the user manual on the addition of second hard drive that seems to be a pretty normal material adding.   Dell has not released the procedures to install an additional SATA hard drive, the Inspiron 3847 has a 3.5 Bay ", one for the second hard drive next to the main hard drive, there should be a set of rails located in the Bay, two 6-32 X 1/4, Phillips head screws are required to secure the Rails.

  Procedures on pages 26 to 28 of the owners manual should give you an idea of what is required for installation.

  You will need a SATA data cable, there should be a spare connector to SATA power inside the housing.

  After you have installed the drive, enter the system setup and make sure the hard drive is "on" [We] and recognized.

  For Windows to recognize the second hard drive, it must be partitioned and formatted.

  Go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, storage, disk management, right click on the new drive, select format, then you can assign a drive letter.

I disconnected the electrical surge protecter, plugged in the wall and still nothing. I was looking online for 2 hours on what to do and im a loss. I have to go back to the store, or is there something else to do for this problem? Thanks for any help

  Nice day. I wanted to share my experience with the DELL Inspiron 11 3147 2 in 1 with Intel N3540. I bought the DELL decision-making. Receipt in very good condition. I installed the SSD and the recognized system. I am now in the process of updating Windows.

  I had installed the WiFi card and the system has recognized and acknowledged the new card. The Intel 7265 is slightly wider than the original 1707 of DELL, which is a single channel card and he returned without modification.

  I've updated the 3147 11 for Windows 8.1, all updates, you are prompted for on 21/08/2015. Windows 10 was not an option at the moment. I re-recorded through the icon of the window that appears on the notification at the bottom bar to the right. I added no additional software other than Bitdefender Free Anti Virus and CCleaner. I removed McAfee Livesafe, using the remove McAfee software before I cloned the Samsung SSD.

  Notes on hardware upgrades:

  SAMSUNG 850 EVO 250GB SSD; The Samsung magician software news. Used space shows 40GB (Windows 8.1) 191GB of free space. Total capacity in the new storage 232.89 GB drive. The SSD is set for maximum Performance. Performance tests show sequential read 283 MB/sec, sequential write 271 MB/s, 27292IOPS and 18419IOPS to write random shuffle.

  The Samsung SSD 850 EVO has the ability to preform better. The Dell system does not support a port SATA 6 GB/s (SATA3). The Samsung said that the SSD is connected to a SATA 3 GB/s (SATA2) port. I ran across this info on the net. Samsung software seems to be in accordance with that.

  At this point, I accepted the results. I don't game or running demanding software that read/write of the highest scores would be beneficial for me. The advantage of using an SSD vs HDD. The SSD has no moving parts that I have to worry that I hold or move the 3147 11. The beginning, opening closing of the application software/is faster than the 5400 RPM HARD disk provided with the 3147 11.

  The memory of 8 GB of Kingston: The Microsoft System info shows GB 8.00 (7.89 GB usable).

  The Intel Dual Band wireless AC 7265: I have not used any test method to determine the actual changes compared to the Reference Dell 1707. It connects and maintains the connection. I use TWC combo phone/TV/internet by modem. The 7260 Intel and wifi 7265 cards were and are used in other DELL products.

  3147 11 Device Manager shows all connections, no problems. I mentioned that when I had updated for Windows 10 with the HDD, I see a problem a device not connected and no driver available. I will look when 10 Windows is installed.

  Recently, I put in an NVidia GTX 750 Ti in mine and have no problem except a bottleneck of the i3 4150 but im going to level it too. Rememeber if you receive anything requiring that you will need to buy a new power supply to fuel the beast that I suggest, if you get something newer that my 750Ti then it will be necessary to get at least a 400W - 750W PSU according to what the applications card and if you upgrade the processor. Personally, I like the whole machine, that Dell is the best producer by far in my opinion. I had an HP previously and a Lenovo. HP is the worst customer far experiencewise and Lenovo is ok, but their systems appear cheap inside as they have their own internal components "because its cheaper" kind of thing going. • Lost CD/DVD in BIOS drive / Dell Inspiron 3847

  I lost my driver CD/DVD entry in the boot BIOS section while trying to change the order of boot autour. I tried to use a boot disk that did not work properly and didn't know and thought that I had to change the boot order to see the boot-able DVD.  DOH!  ;-)

  One of the 5 start past choices [HL - DT - ST DVD +/-RW GHBON] [internal STRANGE machines] in all cases.

  Here are the 5 choices HHD entry and below which was the entry DVD of "HL - DT - ST DVD +/-RW GHBON. Now, there are only the HHD entry and no DVD entry.

  DVD is OK in the "Device Manager" and start from the disc to start the good DVD OK.  I tried updating BIOS to A04 A05 without change. I ran each tool/test Dell I can find without success in the restoration/correction of writing DVD in BIOS.

  I spent the better part of a week to implement this backup compy with all programs/files wife and I use to work/play. I wanted to make an ISO image for a total restoration at a glance.  I don't want to re - build from scratch once again unless I have no choice.  I did all the disks in the factory restore but it will restore the BIOS DVD boot entry correctly? If it's the only choice I do but we need to correct the BIOS entries.

  I really don't think that there is a problem.
