Dell studio 1558 fan noise problem

Hello dell.

I wonder how many people got prob with studio dell 1558, just google and found most of them (all) having prolem with the dell studio 1558 fan noise.

What happens in my case:

The fan noise was ok before a few weeks ago, and he started 2-3 weeks back. aaftre fans of 20-30 sec noise suddenly and during idle sound Inc. is not normal/quiet a bit different than usual.

The fan noise is really annoying and it constantly happens not even a minute, it stops.

So in my case I think that it may be hardware fan prob because I wasn't this prob when I bought this system may be fan is going to jam in a near future?

It's my system config:

Studio 1558:

: Processor Core i3 M350 2.27 Ghz processor

RAM: 4 GB

Gfx card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470

HARD DRIVE: 500 GB

Backlit keyboard

Slot load CD/DVD player

P.S.: My CD/DVD drive and HARD drive recently prob SO dell replaced both.

Thank you

Manan

Today engineer came to my house and the replacced he fan + heatsink. Thermal paste is already on it I guess, it has not applied separately.

Fan runs smoothly.

Failure: in fact the outer part of the radiator is responsible for this when the engineer came out the part and he hit an outside party who is also visible (Manager) of air is broken.

It was broken when an engineer trying to clean the fan lol.

I've also attached the image of the broken part. Image is not good but always visible

  • Dell Studio 1558 - overheating

I bought a Dell Studio 1558 in 2010 but in the last month or two, I noticed that it started to overheat, but I thought it was all just as I placed it on my lap/couch and not a cold hard surface. But fan seems not to move at all so I suspect that this is causing overheating, recently it also stops at random after about an hour so I guess it would be once again be overheating.

My warranty expired in February so I'm a bit stuck as to what I can do, has any that had a similar problem and managed to resolve it?

    Thank you

First thing to do is to check that the fan is running - run a diagnosis (F12 at startup).

If you have used the system on your lap or on the furniture upholstered in a given period, the radiator is probably blocked by lint.  It would be the next thing to check (and clean accordingly).

  • Audio laptop does not not for Dell studio 1558

    Hello

I have the Dell studio 1558. It was working fine but now I have problems with the audio. No Audio is not heard from struggling speaker or headset. I tried to reinstall the driver IDT, but it isn't either installation. Help, please.

Hello. I apologize for the delay in answering your question.

Had tried and failed to install the Creative Labs software? A failure will cause the audio to fail.

If not this, then it could be faulty hardware. Run the audio Dell 32-bit diagnostic tests if you still have this tool on your hard disk. If you do not hear the sound during tests of the hardware on the motherboard failed. In this case, you can get a Jack audio usb to use it as a workaround.

If you no longer have the 32-bit Dell hard disk Diagnostics, you can download it from the Studio 1558 support page (under Diagnostics) and run it on a dvd or usb flash drive... See the instructions here for the Assembly of the diagnostics on a dvd or a flash drive.

The alternative to audio Dell 32-bit diagnostic tests run is to perform a complete System Recovery. If the audio does not immediately after a restart then the hardware has failed.

  • Satellite A500: update BIOS V1.50 is fan noise problem reappears

I have a Toshiba Satellite A500 with fan noise problem.
It has been partially resolved the upgrade of BIOS from v1.20 to v1.30, according to this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46719&start=0&TSTART=0

Yesterday I updated the BIOS v1.50, and the sound of the fan returned.
I do not recommend this upgrade if you have had the problem of fan noise.

I have downgrade BIOS v1.30 and fan noise problem is solved again.
I know that people have problems to get the downgrade to BIOS, so I describe the process in this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=50577&TSTART=0

Thanks mate for sharing this with us

But perhaps you could use the v1.5 BIOS and could reduce or reduce the activity of module cooling in Vista/Win7 power management settings.
It would be interesting to check it out

In any case thank you for this info

  • Satellite 2450 S203 fan noise problems

    Hi guys

I had a Sat 2450 S203 since October 2003 and have recently noticed that whenever I run memory intensive programs fan noise levels are excessive and constant!

If someone could Advisor on the replacement of the fan and know if I should do it myself. Please also comment on the impact on costs as well. Are there other ways around to get rid of this problem?

    Hello

After this long period, your device must be cleaned properly. I guess that dust inside the unit don't allow adequate cooling and cooling fan must often runs and faster to cool the hardware components. It is not only specific for your device, but for all laptops.

I'm sure that after cleaning, your device can take a deep breath and will work a lot better and calmer. I noticed the same thing with my Satellite P20. After cleaning the laptop runs very quiet and cooling fan just works sometimes. I'm very happy now.

  • Dell Studio 1558 WWAN module?

Hi all, my Studio 1558 has no WWAN module and I tried to find a list of compatible modules without success, perhaps because I am new to this site. I saw a module "5540" advertised as being compatible and I wanted to know if this is correct? Also I have seen other modules such as "5560" - these are incompatible or the larger number indicates more high power/new model or something else?

  • Studio 1558 fan problem

    Hello everyone,

Just got my brand new studio 15 Friday, turned on after about 15 minutes of light surf the system overheated, rebooted and everything worked well. Dell said that it is a known problem with no fix. This happens about once a day. Contacted dell technical support they have updated the bios and said that could solve the problem. Long story short, he doesn't. Technical support is suppost to call me back today for a system exchange, my question is what kind of system I get, I paid almost $1300 for my current system, I had less then a week and I will not accept a system exchange if they'll send me an inspirion $ 500 system. So are they going to send me something comparable to what I bought, or I just need to opt for a refund and try a different system?

It is a problem with the BIOS. Connect to the live chat to dell support and they will update your bios to A04 for you or I can send you the update by e-mail. The update seems to have solved my problem of stop/fan. Computer has been running for 3 hours now with no stops

  • Dell Studio 1558, graphics card ATI display driver stopped responding and has recovered. How to solve this problem?

I had this problem for about 8 months now (see the title). I have updated the driver through the Windows Device Manager and have checked for driver updates it and Windows responds saying that the driver is up-to-date. I have no guarantee more that it has expired and I have no funds for their technical support (Dells). Any advice would be much appreciated. This PC has not had this problem for about 2 months, up to the last round of Windows updates on all the 15/08/14. Also, for about 1 year, Chess Titans 'freaks out' and 'unresponsive', says at the top page.

    Hello James,.

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft Community.

I would be grateful if you could provide us with the following information so that we can help you best:

    1. You did changes to the computer before the show?
    2. This problem occurs all by going to a specific application or all applications?

This problem may occur if you do not uninstall the driver properly and and you are just trying to update existing sound.

I suggest completely uninstall the graphics drivers and reinstall it from the Dell Web site.

Please follow the steps below to them:

    • Click on Start > run, type: devmgmt.msc
    • Expand the display adapters section.
    • Find the ATI graphics card.
    • ATI Graphics Driver right click and choose Uninstall.
    • Select the check box delete the driver for this device.
    • Restart the computer after the uninstall is complete.

Then with the help of the Service number on your computer dell laptop, update the drivers from the link of the manufacturer provided below:

    http://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/04?c=&l=&s=BSD

Hope that above suggestions help. Please keep us updated on the status of the issue.

  • 10 Windows on a Dell Studio 1558 laptop?

    Hello

    I have a laptop Dell 1558 Studio (2010 model) with 6Gig RAM and a corei7 system running a 64 bit version of Windows 7.

I was wondering if installing a Windows 10 on my laptop would work or not? I've heard say that 10 is a lighter Windows and less buggy than 8 or 8.1 of cause (I had installed 8 and wished that I didn't, then returned to my 7 64 bit as soon as possible).

So Windows 10 support of older laptops like mine? She would work in reality without lag? like I said mine has a 6gig RAM and a core i7.

    Thanks it :)

See where to find the hardware drivers

Furthermore, I was not able to find a Dell Quickset version that works with Windows 10.  I do not seem to miss something significant as well-

1 I do not have the Dell battery meter but I can use the Windows 10 PowerCfg utility report on the State of the battery in place [in an Admin cmd window, powercfg-energy > D:\Desktop\EnergyReport.txt]

    but

2 my multimedia / function keys work as they always have [they are actually controlled by the bios despite some references to them in the documentation of QuickSet].

I had the same problem with my Alien Aurora R4 using Windows 8.1
Impossible to set up the speed of the fans using the auto mode. 2 fans operating at 100% then the wer to low temperatures.

I fixed this problem by uninstalling my 'Command Center' program, download the special windows 8.1 "Command Center" here:
    http://www.Dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails?driverId=P1K0M I downloaded the file called App_NT_AWCC305010_W8_W81_W7_Setup_P1K0M_ZPE.exe

and I restarted my PC after installing the new program of Command Center.

Now, everything is OK: Fans are runing with a low speed using the auto mode.

  • Dell Studio 1555 - screen resolution problem

As I said, I have a Studio 1555 purchased in 2009. Recently, I had a hard disk problem and had to replace it. With replacement, I reinstalled Vista and drivers; However, the resolution of the screen only now allows up to 1152 x 864 - which spans a bit the screen horizontally. My hard drive before, it only lasted in the slightest. I think that I can not have installed the factory properly drivers, but I'm not positive. My replacement hard drive is slower (5400 RPM as apposed to my previous 7200 RPM), but I was told that this would have nothing to do with my resolution problem. Any thoughts? I'm a graphics guy and amateur photographer, so this problem of resolution just doesn't fly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: it was indeed a driver didn't install I guess. I installed it and everything is right with the world now.

  • Dell XPS 14 Fan Noise

The fan on my XPS 14 sounds like a A380 jet engine and it comes on when the computer is attempting anything even mildly stressful like a virus scan or when adding two numbers together!!

Is there anything that can be done to prevent this? I was at an international business meeting the other day when the fan started up and everyone turned to look in my direction - I was mortified - had to shut the darn thing down. What can be done? Is there any way I can prevent the kind of cpu usage which results in the internal wind turbine starting up?

I'm going through this process now, cordially you cannot remove the battery on the XPS! They are integrated. Also impossible to open the PC up anyway because of the screw... only real military are able to (unless I want to cancel my warranty 3 years) so basically I can't do the two most likely fixes.

EDIT: also, my laptop runs only 27% of CPU and 50% (reflects typical usage for me) so I really think it's a harsh that fans are so inadequate and noisy design flaw! Not good when you are in a shared office space.
