Dell XPS 13 flickering of the screen (9350)

Just got the XPS 13 (9350) last week and I had a few intermittent black screen flicker that occurs normally in short bursts of 4-5 short black outs in a period of two or three seconds. Technical support updated all drivers and others, but I always feel the questions. Anyone had similar problems and possible solutions?

I looked at the previous messages and the display flashes, it's not where it actually distorts the things on the screen, it literally just seems like it flashes. Any help is appreciated!

Make sure that you have not installed hyper-v.

My XPS One 2710 has worked great for over a year. This week, it began to falter on exactly half of the screen on the right side. The Twinkle is quite violent and makes this unusable side. I have updated all drivers and made diagnoses who have shown no failures. My BIOS is A09. I think that it is suitable for a machine running Windows 7. Any ideas?

Thanks for posting.  A friend asked me to take a look at its XPS 2710, and it was indeed the problem.  The symptoms were exactly as described in the previous posts.  I took off the lid in plastic and metal and blew out an industrial fan at the rear of the machine to test.  The machine is stable for two hours, which was much longer while it lasted usually.  Satisfied with my tests, I got creative with my Dremel:

Using a model of fan 140mm, a spare R2 from fractal, a 140mm fan Grill and fan 3 pin USB converter I cut a hole in the lid plastic and mounted equipment (the Converter 3 pin is necessary because playing with the CPU and GPU fan headers will cause the BIOS to start a fan speed error).  Then I reassembled the entire thing without the metal under protection.  Three hours of DURATION and no problem.  Before spazzing would begin after about 20 minutes.  $30 in parts to repair a $2,000 machine.  Not bad.  Thank you once again, everybody who posted!

  • Dell XPS 13 flickering screen

Hi, I've had my laptop for a few days now and I've noticed a few problems with the screen. It still flashes so slightly at random. Sounds like the screen slightly wearing off random times and is quite noticeable. It happens more when the captain is not plugged. I contacted technical support without help on the issue at all. The room sensor is off, as is the room sensor the worst I have ever dealt. The brightness is at 100%. The screen seems not bright enough at the same time. Any ideas? I reinstalled windows 8 two times already and still the same problem.

    UPDATE *.

The user that says change the setting "Enable adaptive brightness" to OFF, is good for some people. This will work for some.

IF this does not work... the ONLY solution I found, dealing with this during more than a year, is to change the projector and back to the LCD screen output. That ALWAYS works for me; However, once you restart, sometimes, it will return to the light but by changing Adaptive brightness allow OFF, the duality of these operations seem to be a sufficient remedy.

Press Fn button, and then press F1, four times until the output of the projector setting is selected, then let go. The screen will turn black, of course, because the laptop think you use a projector. Then, simply press ENTER, and it will return to the LCD screen. The flicker should have disappeared... until, perhaps after a reboot.

SO, this is very frustrating since this is supposed to be their flagship mobile product.

    I hope this helps.

  • Dell XPS 8700 - failure of the keyboard when the bios boot (but not when Windows is loaded)

My Dell XPS 8700 has 10 Windows and a Logitech Keyboard wireless, connected by USB. The keyboard works absolutely fine when Windows has loaded. I have the latest version of the bios, A11.

However, when the computer is turned on and starts the bios start, it displays 'Keyboard Failure' on the screen for about half a second. When I try to go into the bios setup by pressing "F2" at the counter (I keep typing "F2" from the moment when I press the power button on the computer), there is no answer. The "keyboard failure" and inability to enter the bios setup seems to happen if I do a cold immediately after a stop start, a cold start after the computer is turned off for an extended period or a reboot.

I tried to connect the wired keyboard original Dell one of the USB ports on the front of the unit (without disconnecting the wireless keyboard) with the same problem at the start of the bios.

I encountered this problem on versions of bios A11 both A03. I know that in the past, although I don't remember when - I was able to enter the bios setup by pressing "F2".

Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

You can try and reset the CMOS. It will return your settings to factory settings, but not the version. Usually, this erases these problems because CMOS stores data editable such as your wireless keyboard settings. BIOS stores the information about the basic material that is unchangable as your keyboard usb, mouse and other essential equipment. If you notice, when you just plugin any keyboard and mouse, its recognized at startup. Your needs software to run wireless device and that is stored in the CMOS.

So once reset you the CMOS, you may need to then install the wireless software.

    Good luck.

  • Dell computer laptop starts but the screen does not light

    Hello

I have a laptop Dell older (studio 1558) and when I used it the other day, 'static' filled monitor image and then the screen went completely black.  Now when I turn it on, it seems that the computer starts well but the screen is black.

Get yourself an external monitor, easy solution, right? -bad.  Unfortunately when I plugged my laptop in a separate monitor, the monitor (which works fine) showed no images.

Still, I had this laptop for a few years.  I see about being 'easy' opening and closing of the laptop.  This has been the case in recent years, however, so I don't know if something has finally given...

I'm not the best computer savvy so sorry if I was not more detailed... any ideas, what is wrong and how do I fix?  I rather would not somewhere that make me fixed.

You will probably get a better response if you re - post it in the forum of the laptop and mention the version of Windows, too. (This is the forum office.)

  • Flickering of the screen, screen goes black at the beginning to the top or re boot

I have a problem with the screen flickering at first upward. (Computer Toshiba satellite laptop) I start the computer and once windows starts to load I immediately encounter a flickering (somewhat like a light bulb which is about to release) the screen flashes and then goes to black... I have so stop and keep trying to re-start. After 25 + times it finally it loads correctly. This may take 20 to 30 minutes each time it happens... which is usually every morning when I get up and turn on your computer! I searched on the web and see many other people having the same problem, but have not yet found a solution.

There have only been a time it happened when I wasn't initially upwards... regularly, he was initially upwards... once my login screen happens, I get my password and the programs loading - I have no flicker. Can someone please tell me what is the problem and how to fix it? I limited the computer knows how... step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Shake/flickering of the screen.

Since I bought my new computer, the screen flickers or shakes annoyingly. It happens only if I'm only on my desk, nothing doing, but if I start using Google Chrome for example, the screen begins to blink a lot, it becomes even more intense if I watch a video.

Luckily I found a temporary solution for this: let my computer go on screen saver. The screen stops flashing for as long I have my power supply of the computer on (even if I put it on sleep), but if I shut down or restart my computer, I have to wait again, screen saver to correct flicker.

Have to wait for my computer go to the screensaver really bothers me whenever I turn it on even if I put the screen saver timeout for only 1 minute.

I'm suspecting that it is caused by my graphics card, but not quite sure. I tried with another monitor, but it still happens, so it's not caused by my monitor.

I have Windows 7 with ATI Sapphire Radeon HD 6870. My monitor is LG IPS225.

Is this a known problem and is there a solution permanent for this?

EDIT: My screen is off, do not go on the screen saver.

Control Panel-> hardware and sound-> power-> Settings. This of Plan Options change are where I change the timer to 1 min when I turned on my computer and then change again to where I normally keep it's 10 min.

First, turn off and unplug all cables from your PC.  Hold the button for 7 seconds.  Open the PC.  Remove the video card and reinsert it firmly.  Make sure that the cables that connecting now are correctly connected.  While you're there, you can do the same "re-Assisi" of all the plug-ins including caps and memory, hard drive controller plugs, etc.

This could be a driver problem.  There may be an update to the driver.  Try to roll back the previous driver if it is available.

Manager devices, right click on the ATI device, choose Properties, and then choose restore.  It is also possible that there is a newer driver available on the ATI site, which solves this problem.

I believe that the most likely cause is your videocard itself.  Check to see if it still under warranty.  It could very well be.

Moreover, the screen save time-out is definable.  You can even go to this place and click a button to enter this mode temporarily.

  • DELL XPS 8700 compatible with the monitor Samsung Syncmaster 2232 office

HI - can anyone confirm that the DELL XPS 8700 desktop computer is compatible with the monitor Samsung Syncmaster 2232.

Already, I have the monitor, but need a new processor unit.

    Thank you...

    Hi yydelilah,

The monitor has VGA and DVI ports.

By default, XPS 8700 comes with HDMI and display port.  If the system is configured with a discrete card, and this card has DVI/VGA port, you will be able to connect to this monitor.

  • Windows 7 laptop: occasional, power flickering of the screen

Starting yesterday (31/07/2012), my laptop has a flicker of frankly boring and occasional screen. At first, it was just the refresh rate being turned down to 40 hertz, for some strange reason. However, it is now at 60 hertz, can go no higher and still has the annoying flicker of 40 hertz.

When the blinking begins, it is not really noticeable, especially when the display shows a blank page or something, but it is much more sensitive when I flip to something that consists of darker colors or more lines. Twinkle isn't the white flashing screen, it's really more like someone decided to throw switch rage of light with every odd row of the rear lights.
What is more, it's twinkle isn't always there. Sometimes, the functions of the screen perfectly, other times, I opened it and it flashes.
The laptop is a Latitude E6410. The card is a NVIDIA NVS 3100 M. I recently installed a driver for Quadro performance from their site since my laptop had difficult games (1 fps isn't good!).
So, really, the main question is "do I have to install another update, or do I have to get the repaired screen?".
    Thank you for your time.
Note: whenever the flickering starts, I shut down the computer, and then open it again. After typing my password and log back in, it seems to have difficulty remembering what resolution she was worth, doing whatever it is on the screen a little bigger than what it is supposed to be for a little while.

I turned my computer on the high performance setting, and oddly enough, Twinkle stopped (it has been in this position for a few days, flicker-free).

I think it could have also been caused by the inability of my computer cool itself properly, a problem that I am temporarily fixing with a bag of ice and a case of pencils to tilt the computer up a little bit. The permanent solution is coming Tuesday in the form of an additional fan.
Thank you, you all for taking your time to help me with this problem. Have a good morning, day or night (whatever it is there where you are).
  • iMac with flickering of the screen crash

    Hello

for two days my iMac starts flashing with green and bright stripes flashing until the screen is 5 cm off to the left. Finally, everything crashes. Sometimes with a blue screen, sometimes with a white screen as a window only to see a very small strip on top.

No new software has been installed, not new material. It does not start when I use special software or when it's too hot. It crashes just out of nowhere.

Test hardware Apple did not find anything. Updated for 10.11.6 does not help.

I could test or do to fix?

  • Reinstall the Windows XP with SP3 causes flickering on the screen

    Hello

I recently reinstalled Windows XP SP 3 on my laptop. After installation, I started to notice that the screen flashes when I try to move or down in windows Explorer or even browsers. I thought that it could be linked to the frequency of the screen refresh.

I noticed that refresh is set to "default to the setting material" and it gives me no option to change to 60 htz.

can someone help me figure this out?

You probably need to update driver for video (monitor) card. Or simply you need set the appropriate (through software coming with driver) discount rate.

Optional: You can also customize some parameters of performance (uncheck the display contents of windows slides & lala).

  • Shaking furiously / flickering of the screen

    Hello everyone

My HP laptop that I bought a year came with a vista installed.

Occasionally, for no reason, all of the screen just started to shake like crazy. Request that never I'm working, be it IE, MS office, or simply the view of the office, every thing shakes and then stops after a few moments. Before it was casual but now occurs quite frequently. I wonder what could be the problem - hardware/vista?

    Please, can someone advise?

    Thank you
    Rehan

    Hello

Check the HP site for a video driver updated (not the manufacturer of videocard like HP them often changes for their laptops). Download the latest version and install it after you have uninstalled the game current and rebooted (configuration/program Panel and features).

If the problem persists, you may have a hardware problem, IE: welding/loose wiring or component misseated. If it is less than 1 year, contact HP support to protect your warranty.
