Dell XPS 2720 garlic-in-a - slot in TV Tuner

Hi, so I just opened my Dell XPS 2720 for its cleaning regular dust and I noticed that there is a slot for a mini PCIE TV tuner card. Everyone manages to place and operate?

What type of tuner TV you if ever? All minis maps I see come from AverMedia (and there are many models) so I was wondering what I should get if ever.

Thank you!

Don't bother since it is old technology and it is usually the poor image quality that requires a connection by cable or antenna. Watch TV moved to Internet now. You are all set to the top so that your Web browser. Your cable provider must have a program to look all that you subscribe to without a box or a cable connected to the computer. Even hbo, showtime, etc. If you are a Subscriber. There are also streamed new devices and services. Start by seeing what is available from your TV provider.

    Hey,.

I know I'm not the first to ask this question, but unfortunately my new XPS 2720 has this problem! My company bought 5 or 6 2720 XPS for management staff, I noticed this problem too, you tap the bright ejection in the lower corner on the right monitor, nothing happened. you use the button on the keyboard that is nothing past?

Feel really strange, it's something so obvious a problem, why there is no solution, I missed something? It is very annoying, can someone help me with this?

    Thank you!

Salvation all of Spain, I had the same problem with my new XPS 2720. The eject led in the monitor has always been on and didn t work, didn t of ejection. At least in my case the problem started when I updated to DELL OS app to the latest version (007) available in the Dell download page drivers. I uninstalled the new version, reinstalled the earlier, 006, and the led has started working again as it should (lights only when a disc is pushed in and when the disc is ejected). I hope this helps you all.

  • Buyer beware - Dell XPS 2720 - Service questions feed

I am the owner of 3 Dell XPS 27 "all in UNITS.  I have a 2710 and 2720 two.  Recently, one of my 2720's refused to start, so I place a call to service with Dell.  It turns out that food is shorted the motherboard, so the motherboard power AND must be replaced.  To this day and 15 days later, my $2,000 XPS system still does not.

I had to take two days off for two separate service calls, that which Dell sent incorrect feeding.  After hours on the phone trying to settle this point and the technician on-site, take pictures of the question, I'm still without the use of this computer.

For a device that is supposed to have weekday, Dell failed miserable on this repair.  Not to mention the overseas call centers are unnecessary and could care less how much time I had.

I have been a loyal consumer of Dell for many years, it will be the LATEST Dell product I ever buy.  There is no place to raise this issue in my own country, and I was told not to contact Dell more because they "are working how to solve the problem.  It is totally unacceptable for such a large company.

I'm having the same problem did you ever fix correctly and have you been able to do everything yourself easily?

  • DELL XPS 2720

    Hello DELL community!

I have a question about the all new XPS 27 PC AIO Haswell. There is the option (as the old model 2710) to set up the XPS specification with a 32 GB cache mSATA SSD and a 2 TB for storage HARD drive.

Is it possible to spend the mSATA SSD in an mSATA 256Go example and use it as system drive disk / boot for Windows? So can I turn off the RST in the Bios (from RAID on AHCI) and freshly install Windows? I'd not taken in charge of software preinstalled, I want just a much faster PC. I mean there are mSATA 450GB SSD on the market and it would be a shame, if this interface is reserved for caching? Who needs that at a time where the SSDS get cheaper.

Thank you very much in advance

    See you soon

    Jedi

    Hi JEDI123,

Yes, you can replace it with any size and brand.

  • Activation of Cache SSD 32 GB on XPS 2720

I just got a Dell XPS 2720 of decision-making and it rocks so hard, except that I can't get the job of SSD cache and it is so annoying because I paid extra for it.

    So far:

    • I got the computer and clean installed 8.1 with RAID mode in BIOS.
    • Installed all the drivers and updates etc.
    • Open Intel Rapid Storage to enable Smart Response, but the acceleration tab is missing. Performance shows only a power management option.

I tried to use diskpart to clean the SSD, initialize it in the MBR, GUID, creating a RAW partition, etc. and a ton of combinations of things in disk management, but I can't get TSRI give me this option of accelerating.

Does anyone have some luck with this?

Everyone seems to have a different story how to push the cover SSD RST at work, so here's mine:

After a disk crash I had to reinstall Windows 8 and update to Windows 8.1. For some reason, I'm done with a recovery at the beginning and at the end of the disk partition. It seems that the option to accelerate the RST does not appear if the last partition is not the operating system.

After I deleted the partition recovery with the diskpart utility (select the disc, select the partition, delete partition override) and the partition of the BONE at the end of the disc, the acceleration tab appeared and Smart Response works! If the error was not the mSATA SSD, but the structure of the partition on the disk to the operating system.

So I guess that, if the OS partition is not the last partition on the disk, the Smart Response option will not be displayed. Intel should really document this better.

  • XPS 2720 - how to replace 32 GB SDD with the largest

    Hello

I want to replace the current 32 GB SDD with a 256GB SDD. I don't know how many records the 2720 XPS can hold and what kind.

-Can it accommodate a new SDS plus the drive HARD and SDS that are already there?  Alternatively, if I need to replace the current SDS? If Yes, should it be mSata or the computer can hold the two SATAs?  I'm looking at the Samsung 840 Pro 256.

Ideally: HD 2 TB, 256 GB, 32 GB SDD SDS

Good: 2 TB, 256 GB SDD

Bad: Can't hold an another SATA

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Racarius,

Dell XPS 2720 can be configured with 32 GB, 64 GB or 256 GB mSATA car and 3.5-inch SATA 3.0 HDD capacity of 1 to 4 to.

You can purchase the 256 GB mSATA drive to replace the 32 GB mSATA drive.

Dell XPS on MS XP running several windows to include station media TV and internet games offers a pixelated display gradually and freezes. restart clears but reproduces

I love my Dell and use media station to watch cable TV while playing games on the internet (pogo.com) sometimes I play solitaire spider OEM.  I think that, especially in the afternoon, my image of the desktop will get pixelated (small hyphens in contrasting colors) gradually fill in top to bottom.  Initially, I thought this might be the steganography, but found no references.  then I noticed that the pixelation in contrasting colors began to appear on the screen of the media station into strips about 6-8 rows of red, green and blue and pulsed in time for audio.  do not have audio video storage but this started to happen when Comcast went digital, so there may be a link?  spoke and troubleshoot-done with the line paid expert who suggested Speedfan as a diagnosis for my GPU graphics processing unit.  When I reboot, everything is fine so it happens with increasing frequency.

Even if your system is physically disconnected from the power supply and clean, if you can remove your slot NVIDIA card and reinsert the card safely in the same dwelling, which will ensure that you don't have a loose connection.  Which may require a screwdriver, so if you're not uncomfortable with it, maybe you can find someone to help you.

Your display NVIDIA GeForce 7300 driver has also passed HIM.

Your msinfo32/video info says that currently, you have this:

    6.14.12.6658 driver version (it's NVIDIA version 266.58)

The current version of the driver for the GeForce 7300 is 270.61

The best way to reinstall the NVIDIA software is to visit NVIDIA support web page and let your system and recommend the best software for your system or that you get the right version of the software on their web page and download the latest package of video driver for your system software and install it yourself.

  • Updates for the SSD of 32 GB LITEON m2 on a special edition of Dell XPS-8900.

Has anyone successfully upgraded Cache SSD m2 on their system XPS-8900?

I have a Dell XPS-8900 that I bought a few months ago, and you want to update the cache of hard drive SSD m2.  The system has 2 to 7200 RPM hard drive + Cache SSD of 32 GB m2, 16 GB of memory (which I'm upgrading to 32 GB) and the processor i7 - 6700 k.

I tried to replace it with either the Samsung 850 EVO m2 250 GB SSD or the Samsung 950 PRO NVMe 256 GB SSD.  I read in another post on the forum that the limit for XPS-8900 in the m2 slot was 256 GB.  Anyone know if this is correct?

If anyone has any ideas on how I can change my system to tighten a bit more performance out of my system, I'd greatly appreciate your ideas.  It seems a little slow at startup and loading applications than I expected.

It is not necessary to install a larger disk for use as a cache - it won't do much (if any) for performance.  There is a valid argument by replacing the disk cache with an SSD of larger m2 and then by installing the operating system on this drive (that is, running in native mode of SSD).  That WILL stimulate the acceptable performance.

I doubt that there is a limit on the capacity of the drive - but there is no doubt about the physical size of the map itself.  Note that this system is NOT wired with an interface of PCIe 4 ways - then install a player is not worth the extra cost, because it will be limited by the design of the motherboard.

  • Update hard disc on the special edition of Dell XPS-8900

Hello, I have a Dell XPS-8900 that I bought a few months ago, and you want to upgrade the hard drive.  There to 2, 7200 RPM hard drive + Cache SSD of 32 GB m2.  I noticed by looking at the disk management, it has 2 free sheet music; a 39 MB OEM Partition and 11.73 GB recovery Partition.  Both show that they are 100% free.  I created the recovery USB disk and it deleted the recovery Partition files.

Should I still have the Partition recovery or the OEM Partition?  When I switch to a new hard drive, is it possible to simply copy the partition of the OS?

Also, I thought that he would have an EFI System Partition.  Is that what I need or installation?

UEFI allows secure and start for 2 t boot partitions format: those are the two major differences, as well as the withdrawal of the restriction to have four primary partitions per disk.  Those who are not important here.

I don't think that there is a capacity limit on the m2 in height slot, but there is most likely a limitation of the physical size of the map itself which may restrict your ability.

You will get the best performance from the system running the operating system for one SSD drive for some.  You can easily find 2.5 "SATA SSD affordable up to 1 t in size now.  Drives 2.5 "tend to be less expensive than m2 format disks, although NVMe readers (whose prices are in the stratosphere), they are largely very reasonable in price for the exception.

I would not necessarily fear disks 3.5 "Toshiba - these are in large part the designs of Hitachi/HGST (Toshiba entered the market of disk 3,5 '' when WD resumed HGST - the Chinese Government opposed the consolidation to two manufacturers of records based in the United States and forced to WD to spin off plants making the disks 3.5" to Toshiba).  The HGST designs have a good reputation for reliability - much better than those of Seagate, for sure.

You are probably better off with a straight on the clone of the drive.  You can use the Windows Disk Administrator to change the partitions later.  I had the good luck of late with Macrium Reflect (free), but Acronis image works well - and Samsung provides a free version of it if you choose one of their SSDS.

  • Looking to update the graphics card in my Dell XPS 8900 EVGA GeForce GTX 960.

I have a Dell XPS 8900 Special Edition that I bought a few months ago. I want to upgrade the OEM GeForce 745 of GTX that it came with an EVGA GTX 960.

I have the Dell XPS 8900 (processor i7 - 6700 k), 32 GB of memory, 2 TB HDD + SSD of 32 GB m2, monitor cache Dell UP2516D and Windows 10 Pro. I'll add a second monitor Dell UP2516D soon and later add an SSD and move the OS and applications on.

My needs are not at stake. I mainly business applications (MS-Office, including access and project), finance and investment, and a lot of photo and video editing.  Photo editing software uses the GPU if I update.

EVGA has suggested either of the following, based on what would be good:

    http://www.EVGA.com/products/product.aspx?PN=04G-P4-1961-KR

    http://www.EVGA.com/products/product.aspx?PN=04G-P4-3963-KR

    These cards are almost identical except;

    #1 is long of 6.8 ", has 1 BIOS, 1 fan and use 128 watts for $160

#2 is 10.1 "long, has 2 BIOS, 2 fans and consume 160 watts for $170

I thought I would replace the graphics card myself, but once I opened the folder, I was wondering if the two cards will even fit.  I saw that other people have swapped their graphics card, so it must be possible.

When I look in my case, the existing graphics card is a single location.  These two cards are double slot.  In addition, it seems that there are a few transistors just next to the existing card.  When you install a card double slot, the new map is just overlap the transistors under?

Finally, in view of these two cards and the XPS 8900 case, is it possible to put the card in?  Is it worth the extra $ 10 earn an extra BIOS and fan, to the detriment of one more card of time and 12 watts?

Any help or thoughts are greatly appreciated, thank you.

Dual cards fit without any problem. Many have improved their 8900 XPS and 8700 with cards that need two slots of width.

I prefer the models dual fan as they run cooler. They have a bigger heat sink and with relatively low heat from GTX 960, some are silent at idle because the fans do not work.

For example, MSI GTX 970 son fan only above a certain temp that only happens every game. Maybe the EVGA card did the same thing. It is nice to have a quiet system at idle.

Regarding the adjustment, the MSI GTX 970 games 4 G card Dimensions are (mm) 140 x 277 x 35. Length and height are tight but it fits without cutting.

In addition, as noted speedstep you run SATA cables under the card. I replaced the SATA cables with longer cables, so they route toward the front of the box, then under the graphics card and upward.

This thread has many cards different people have added. (the link is on page 26) and about the halfway point is my son with the MSI GTX 970 system, which (I think) is slightly larger that the EVGA 960 you listed.  It also shows the case mod to add a front fan.

  • Dell XPS M1330-

Hi all! I am working on a Dell XPS M1330 computer for a friend. When I got it, it was equipped with Windows Vista at a very slow pace and was inflated with the PUPPY and malware. He had a few strange bugs too, as the fact that he made a high-pitched buzzing sound when he ran not related to the hard drive (I've heard of computers Dell XPS 13 done this before, so I wasn't worried) and the Control Panel does not open on one of the accounts. I decided to reset the machine, which was quick and easy. Then a problem arose. This morning, I had propped it against my laptop bag and I was in search, but I push the XPS in the process (he was on the floor), and he fell on my toe (OE). After that, I checked to see if she was okay, (seemed like a small fall), but the computer froze. I hard reset it and it had some serious trouble starting. I realized it was just because of low battery, so I plugged it in and it seemed to work fine. Then, 30 minutes later when it was installing updates and other it blue screened apparently without reason and says error: Memory_Management. I tried to restart, but he again projected blue. I ran the diagnostic in F12 menu, and he passed all the tests until the memory March test B, where Bank A failed. I tried to open the machine and change the RAM slots to see if one of the banks has went wrong, (the age or the slight decline earlier in the day), but on trying to start again, he would similarly refuse to start. He just lies empty and flashing the caps lock button. I ran the diagnostic LCD tapping powerbutton - D and who has worked, but all the rest fails. I even changed the RAM to the original banks, but he is still unable to do anything else. I broke it! Is it RAM, age, ESD, motherboard or what? Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

The error memory is the likely cause of blue screen - and the hard drive could have been damaged in the fall.  the system starts with the hard drive removed?  If so, you could have found a flaw.  Try the memory modules one by one until the bad module or the Jack has been isolated.

The other big problem with this, is that if the system has a nVidia GPU - these are well known for not having.  If the GPU is nVidia, it is amazing that the system still works at this point - most of them will have failed for a long time.

    Hi reda,.

4 beeps is an indication of insufficient memory. Please reinsert memory & check. If the problem persists, a memory at a time and check. Try the memory modules in both slots. This will help us to isolate which memory slot or memory is causing the problem.
