I love my Dell and use media station to watch cable TV while playing games on the internet (pogo.com) sometimes I play solitaire spider OEM.  I think that, especially in the afternoon, my image of the desktop will get pixelated (small hyphens in contrasting colors) gradually fill in top to bottom.  Initially, I thought this might be the steganography, but found no references.  then I noticed that the pixelation in contrasting colors began to appear on the screen of the media station into strips about 6-8 rows of red, green and blue and pulsed in time for audio.  do not have audio video storage but this started to happen when Comcast went digital, so there may be a link?  spoke and troubleshoot-done with the line paid expert who suggested Speedfan as a diagnosis for my GPU graphics processing unit.  When I reboot, everything is fine so it happens with increasing frequency.

  • Several Web pages, including Hotmail, lock up and I have to hit refresh before any clicks take effect.

    IE8 and Windows 7 under a Pavilion 6710f. Problem is recent, occurring only after the latest version of Windows automatic update.

    Pages to work OK on Chrome, but some pages, Hotmail and Budget car rental, freeze and require a refresh affected to go forward.

    I solved the problem, when I disabled it several add-ons. I hit the tools, then manage add-ons or so disabled all add-ons.  Problem disappeared. I enabled Add-ons one by one until the problem is back. That's all. Problem solved when I removed that last one.

    Using another computer, go to the Dell support website and search the Windows XP drivers for your specific model number. Using your Dell's Service tag number is the fastest way to get the correct drivers.

    If there is then Windows XP Download drivers into a folder (with subfolders named "Chipset", "LAN", "Audio", etc) on your hard drive and burn all files on a CD driver.

  • Dell XPS 8700 - A11 Bios - boot

    I have a Dell XPS 8700. I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10. As recommended, I've also updated the bios to A11 (the latest version of the bios). I have a processor i7, 24 GB of RAM and an SSD as boot drive - so it should be a very fast machine.

    The startup time for just the bios (i.e. excluding the windows 10) is 14 seconds - crazy for a long time. It takes more time for the bios to start it makes for the time it takes for 10 Windows to start. Note that the bios startup time is confirmed by opening the Task Manager and looking at the Startup tab.

    My previous bios version was A03, who was still slow to start (8 seconds for the bios to start), but better than the A11. I see that some of the other bios versions after A03 were also slow to launch and I've deliberately downgraded these versions to A03 to improve startup performance.

    How can this bios startup time to accelerate because it does not seem normal to take so long?

    Note: I have external USB hard drives and I tried to disconnect these and it does impact not bios boot time.

    When you say the startup time of 6-7 seconds, you're talking at that time:

    1. Press the button market at the moment, the BIOS is ready to load Windows, but excluding the loading of Windows. or
    2. to completely load Windows, but excluding the BIOS load game; or
    3. Press the button of power both on Windows is fully loaded (i.e. 1 + 2)?

    For 1, I get about 13 seconds, I think, for 2, I get about 40 seconds, to be 53 seconds in total. On paper my PC should be very fast, so I guess that--and kind of hoping if my system is massively under fulfillment - your done 6-7 seconds simply reference to 1.

    Hello!

    I recently updated my software Adobe Acrobat Reader version 11.0.16

    Before I could double-click several pdf documents in my files and they would all open in separate, several windows. Without tab, no blocking and no problems just several different windows.

    After the upgrade when I double-click a pdf file opens as expected. When I double-click a second pdf in the same or different folder nothing happens. Not even a single one of these "tabs" I read on troubleshooting this.

    If it is not longer possible I'll easily use one of the free players to solve this problem but I prefer Adobe Reader could pass as do other readers.

    I quess my question is why someone would consider even this in an upgrade?

    Player 11 is old. The tabs are in the current version, CD player.

  • Windows browser jumpy and freezes - MS Word problem?

    I have a Satellite L500 - UR. Opening a file large MS Word, my computer runs very slowly and ends by crashes. The main problem is with the Windows browser, because it gets nervous and freezes constantly, as if a program has been demanding a lot of computer resources. Funny enough, it only occurs when other applications are open, with Word. I checked the CPU performance when this happens and the two hearts seem to work well.

    From what you have posted, I don't see Toshiba accept that there is a fault. I would be looking at the size of the word files and consider if they need 'cleaning' - MS used to provide a utility on their website to strip unused text and 'code '... Word is not designed to write a book in a single file and no one dependent on the version made recommendations to deal with multi file documents. "master document" was one of the terms used.

    If the previous step does not take care of the issue you run a vista repair install. Although its recommended to do a clean install.

    You have a Vista DVD?
    You need to run a repair of the Vista installation.

    Here are the steps to do:

    1. insert the Vista DVD in the DVD player while your current Vista is running.
    WARNING: Do not start the computer and run the installation Vista system startup DVD. An upgrade installation doesn't work that way.

    2 click on install now to start the upgrade. (See screenshot below)
    NOTE: If the auto run does not load the Vista Setup screen, then open your DVD drive in the computer and click on the Setup file.

    3 if you want Vista to check updates during installation, and then click to select. (See screenshot below)
    NOTE: It will install more quickly if you select receive no updates to install. You can install them later through Windows Update.

    4 do not type a product key. (See screenshot below)
    WARNING: If you do not enter the same activated product key that you have already installed, then you can find yourself in a reduced functionality Mode. See: How to get out of the Mode of reduced functionality in Vista

    5 let the box automatically activate Windows when I'm online disabled.

    6 click Next.

    7 click on the No button for the you want to enter your product key now? command prompt. (See screenshot below)

    8 select which edition of Vista you have. (See screenshot below)

    9 check the box I choose the edition of Windows that I purchased and click Next. (See screenshot below)

    10 click the upgrade option. (See screenshot below)

    11 follow the instructions up to what Vista install and re-booted the final welcome screen on the Vista desktop.

    12 remove the Vista installation DVD.

    13. check if all files are missing. If so look in the files in bold shown in step 14 below to see if they are there. You can then simply copy their return.

    14 run Disk Cleanup.
    NOTE: To learn how, see: How to use cleaning disc in Vista

    (A) if the list see records destroyed by upgrade Windows. (See screenshot below)
    NOTE: These will be files remaining upgrade, C:\Windows.old, C:\$INPLACE.~TR , and C:\$WINDOWS.~Q, which did not copied. Is it missing from the files of user name, it would be in these files.

    (B) click OK to remove.

    15 now, all you need to do is activate Vista.
