Depnds on order of connection internet connection

Router E1200; Windows XP, modem Siemens Speedstream 4100 DSL. If anything is turned and I turn power on, let it all come to its final State, I have no connection to the internet. Three of the five lights are lit on the modem: power, Ethernet and LAN. 'Internet' IS DISABLED. Three cables are connected to the router: one of the connectors of the Blues to computer ethernet; the cable from the modem to the E1200 decision-making named Internet and power. Three green lights are on (corresponding to the cables).

If I now unplug the cable from the computer to the router and connect the modem instead of one that is originally at the router (if the router is now out of the picture: the computer goes directly to the modem) the "Internet" light on the modem lights, so now four are on. The computer now communicates perfectly with internet, but there is no wireless connection for my other computers.

Now comes the amazing part, and must be one who holds the solution: if I now replace the cables - that is to say one from the modem to the router, one between the router and the computer - THE FOURTH LIGHT ON THE MODEM ("INTERNET") ON REST, the COMPUTER has ACCESS to the INTERNET, AND THE WORK of WIRELESS CONNECTIONS. Everything is as it should be.

I can handle this situation even though I turned off the computer, as long as the power remains the modem and the router. When I start the computer, then, everything is fine!

What is the explanation, and how can I solve this problem without the hassle of the passage of the cables backwards?

Thank you for your help, but who doesn't. I've made my peace with leaving both the modem and the router powered continuously. In these circumstances, I can't turn off the power to the computer if I want to. In this way I avoid annoying cable power. If I should lose power, the passage of cable is not much more that a sentence so it must only be done rarely. This has the additional advantage that my other computer that is wireless, can be reactivated at any time, without turning on my main computer. But thanks for trying!

  • Satellite Pro L300 - what order of connection is fair?

Some people recommend to plug the adapter into the wall outlet before connecting the laptop. They believe that the removal of the load (ie. the laptop) to the adapter reduces inrush current. They also believe that this protects the laptop from any power surge caused by the starting currents.

Why? Because like me, many people have noticed sparks when it connects the adapter to the wall outlet or the receptacle, IE. Sparks jump between the pins of the plug and the wall socket. An explanation that I found is this:

"Most of these supplies is called"switching"supplies. Basically, they apply the voltage to the output and turn it off very quickly when desired pressure is reached. This type of operation tends to distort the waveform of the incoming line. (Harmonics).
To minimize this effect, a capacitor is placed in the entrance. If initially energized (connected) a capacitor is basically a short dead. This causes a huge inrush current of current for a VERY short period. So the spark. "

The Toshiba manual says first connect the adapter to the laptop, then plug the adapter into the wall outlet.

This procedure is recommended for security reasons, IE. fears that a person will get a shock when you plug the adapter into the laptop? Because that first connect the laptop eliminates any risk of this power connector, and then plug in the wall socket is a common experience that people learn very early to be careful with.

So is it only for purposes of security, or are there technical reasons for laptop to do first and then taken?

Is it possible to plug in the wall outlet first and then the laptop gives better protection to the electronics of the laptop?

  • Telenet service should run in order to connect via telnet?

    I'm a developer.

In my Windows XP Pro SP3 I service windows (in services.msc) TlnSrv (full name: Telnet) Description:

    • Allows a remote user to connect to this computer and run programs and supports various TCP/IP Telnet clients, including UNIX and Windows-based computers. If this service is stopped, remote user access to programs may be unavailable. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on will initially fail *.

Also, I read various articles that telnet service is required on the host to be telnet-ted.

In his comments to my answer to the question "connect SQL Server 2008", the "militants" serverfault.com squillman and MarkM wrote several times:

    • "Telnet on a host does not require a telnet service on the remote host. This requires an open socket, that's all. "

After that, I was banned by serverfault.com in 2 min without warning or notification

Well, I've never used before telnet. Now I see that the telnet service is stopped on my Windows XP, but opening cmd and enter 'telnet localhost 1433' open 'telnet localhost' window, i.e. telnet session (?), without any error with my MS SQL Server local default instance.

Telnet-ing require the telnet service to run on the remote Windows host or not?
What is the telnet service for?

Telnet is now obsolete, but Microsoft is to keep shipping with Windows for some reason. Nobody knows why?

Function of Telnet in the era pre-IPv4 Pre-internet, was to connect your modem through a limited number of ports available (1023) on the server side. Is that a connectivity based on characters is one of the oldest protocols package-transfer, with packet as a byte. Telnet is mainly used to make the connection, and then a large part of the transmission of data would take by transfer of UDP packets. If Telnet would allow quick "handshake" or equivalent authentication on the server. We are talking about the end of the 1960s - mid1970s lead-time. Since there was no viruses or Trojans at the time and most of the work done was by researchers across the Atlantic, it became easier to telnet first and then transfer UDP packets, because you know that the UDP that will reach the destination.

In the early 1990s Telnet was preferred to how to hack computers, which basically confirmed the status "online". Thus, we could send viruses to macro-type via telnet. Still, firewalls have not yet discovered.

You don't need Telnet Service to send and receive packets through port23. However you can send a datagram UDP on port 23, without need to Telnet, being UDP, confirmationless data transfer protocol sense... If it reached the sender does not know that this receiver has received. In Telnet, the sender knows what telnet transmission moved not, by the non receipt of confirmation.

So, for purposes of security, disable the Telnet Service (most modern firewall prohibit connections port 23 by default)

  • Order of connection multiple Windows Live e-mail accounts

I use Windows Live mail on Windows 7 computer. I have two accounts installed. He who tries to access his mail server first is unreliable from time to time and when it cannot connect to the server I can't to the second account. Is it possible that I can do on behalf of failure are the second to try to connect instead of the first?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

You can try to change/add e-mail account names in alphabetical order, according to the account that you want to synchronize first since synchronization follows an alphabetical order of Mail accounts. You can do this by following these:

1 right click on the name of the account in the left pane.

    2. click on Properties.

    3. under email account, rename the name on the box it.

    4. click apply and then Ok.

Kindly do it with all accounts. For example: you will rename Outlook (* address email is removed from the privacy *() to A Outlook (* address email is removed from the privacy *( ) and the other using the letter B comes from to put in alphabetical order. After the name change, please restart Mail and click send/receive button to check if the accounts will be synchronized by alphabetical order.

  • [Issue] Is it possible to change the order of connection of the network through the powershell command or back?

    Hello my dear

I would like to ask how to change the binding of the network through the powershell command or back order.

I know it could be changed as below.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows/change-network-protocol-bindings-order#1TC=Windows-7

but I want to change it via text command. Because sometimes, I change it many servers via GUI and then happened a long time depending on the amount of servers.

If it can be modified it using the command text, or registry, it will be useful for me.

    Thank you.

  • Internet connection through different VLAN

Could someone help me here please.

Have a cisco SG500 2 (mode layer 3) configured with 3 VLAN connected to a modem adsl (Trendnet) - vlan voice 1 data, vlan 2, vlan 3 tests.  Routing between VLANs is ok I can ping any device in any vlan and have access to the internet through the vlan 1 but no internet access on the other vlan is the vlan 2 and 3. No ping to adsl, if I plugged in a device in the vlan 2 or 3. My question is do I have a router or firewall in order to provide internet access through all my VLAN or is it possible with the SG500 connected to adsl? a turn on ip Routing and the default route in my SG500, but still no luck. need internet connection for the PC as well as voip devices.

    Thank you

Hi Paul, the switch performs no NAT function so if your modem is only a modem giving public IP addresses then you would need a router to support the NAT function and support the vlan or the static routes.

If your modem works as a router, need you a static route on the modem to point to the SVI to the switch to allow the clients of vlan connection to connect to the modem to turn, what makes the internet work.

  • Will be CC work offline, if the PC does not have an internet connection?

My photo club uses a laptop to demonstrate techniques using Photoshop and other photo editing packages - in this case once a month.
The laptop is used in a place without an internet connection.
It is sometimes taken off-site in order to connect to the internet and run updates/maintenance.

So we bought the program of photography, with the monthly payment, what would happen if the laptop was not connected to the internet for more than 99 days? Apps would go?

Since the demos take place every month, I suspect that we could operate for 3 months and then on the 4th month not to be able to run.

If we connected to a mobile phone, the applications would be able to login and update their status quickly?  or is it a large number of data transfer?

    Hi Phil,

Applications will not run if the subscription is not activated after 99 days, activation also requires no heavy data transfer and internet connection via a mobile phone does not work.

  • Help! Vista problem WRT54G2 connect

I connect to the Internet via my router wireless for the last month with no problems. I used the default linksys SSID. I decided to change the SSID to make it unique in my house. I went to 192.168.1.1 and changed my SSID name. As soon as I did my wireless connection is down, not to my surprise. I searched my new SSID name in order to connect and found him. I tried to connect to the SSID and could not connect. I used a pen to reset the router to restore the default settings. I can not connect to the Internet on Vista via the WRT54G2. It is not my ISP either because I can connect from my cable modem directly to my computer. I believe that there is conflict in the workplace somewhere between vista and the router. I don't know so well. Please help this is driving me crazy!

Since you have already reset your router, then your router is to return to the default settings from the factory... To make all your computers go online through the router, you must reconfigure all the settings on your router...

If your Internet Service is cable follow this link

If your Internet Service is DSL follow this link

Open an Internet Explorer browser on your computer (desktop) wired page. In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press ENTER... Let the empty user name & password use admin lowercase...

For wireless settings, follow these steps: -.
    Click on the Wireless tab

-Here, select manual configuration... Wireless network mode must be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the name box of the wireless network (SSID) in order to differentiate your network from your network of neighbors...

-Set the Standard - 20 MHz Radio band and change the Standard channel to 11-2, 462 GHz... Wireless SSID broadcast should be enabled and then click on save settings...
Please take note of the name of the wireless network (SSID) because it's the network identifier...

    For wireless security: -.
Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...

Change the mode of WPA wireless security, encryption, select TKIP. Password input your desired WPA key. For example, MySecretKey, this will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and do not forget the key.

NOTE: The password must be more than 8 characters...

    Click the settings advanced wireless

Change the interval of tag to 75 > change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2304 > click 'save settings '...

Now let's see if you can locate your wireless network and try to connect...

  • DeskJet 3070 unable to connect to the ad hoc network

    Hello

I'll put up my new HP Deskjet 3070. This printer has wireless capability. I would use it wireless with my laptop Macbook Pro (OSX 10.6.8).

I don't have a wifi network or router at home. That's why I created a wifi (one to one) on my mobile ad - hoc network, named MyPrinterNetwork. This is the type of network used to connect a computer to the other on wifi. MyPrinterNetwork is then visible to other devices compatible wifi (other computers, smartphone,...), and devices can connect to the network (and share files or Internet by wifi). This thread http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Connect-Deskjet-3070A-wirelessly-to-my... suggests that this printer is able to connect to ad hoc networks.

I then launch the HP utility to configure the printer. But when the screen appears with the list of available wifi networks, MyPrinterNetwork is not in the list. The list contains only the other wifi available through networks points (values in wifi mode column are all infrastructure) access. If I try to enter the name of a network manually, the software indicates that the printer cannot see or connect to this network.

    Executive Summary:

-Someone would confirm that the printer Deskjet 3070 is able to connect to the ad-hoc wifi networks?

-If so, why my adhoc network isn't in the list in the configuration utility?

    Thanks and greetings

    Johnny

    Hello Johnny.

Deskjet 3070 Network Infrastructure support only, it does not support the ad-hoc connection.

As you can find in the user manual:

    Traditional wireless connection (requires router)

To connect the HP All-in-One to an integrated wireless WLAN 802.11 network, you will need the following:

    - A wireless 802.11b/g/n network that includes a wireless router or access point.
NOTE: 802.11n will only support 2.4Ghz

A desktop computer or laptop with either wireless networking support, or a network interface card (NIC). The computer must be connected to the wireless network that you intend to install the HP All-in-One on.

    Page 33:http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02887357.pdf

As an alternative, try feature that allows the mac to act as a router in Mac OS X internet sharing Infrastructure mode:

    http://docs.info.Apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mchlp1540.html

A limitation, you should be aware, the Internet sharing security supports WEP in shared only authentication mode that is not supported by the printer you can find below:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02871178

Therefore, you should keep sharing without security password in order to connect the printer to the network.

    It will be useful,

    Shlomi
