Describing the text in illustrator

Hi I would like to underline the text as in the attached photo if the outline is to the right - which seems to be behind the text.   I would also like to know how to do hanging out the "Lounge" L - any help would be great - thanks!Screen Shot 2015-04-17 at 11.53.00 AM.png

To extend the L, draw the extension with the tool feather, secret the L in vectorised text, then use pathfinder to combine the forms. For the shadow effect, first add a glimpse behind the word, the same color as the background. Then place a copy of the word behind the word original and recolor.

    How did you choose your text?

    With the selection arrow, you should be able to choose the Type > vectorize.

    When the text tool is used to select text, you do not have this option.

    How to describe the text in a different color?

    No need to simplify the layer - which causes the text that becomes uneditable as text.

    With the layer selected text, use the layer... Layer style... Style settings to open the settings of a dialog box for the text layer where you can select "Stroke" and choose your options for size, color, etc.

  • Change the text in Illustrator?

    I have a logo which I believe was created in Illustrator by someone else. I need to change the date on this image, but don't know how. The year in this logo has a shadow, so need to know how to change it too much.

    Unfortunately, I don't really know anything about Illustrator. I use Illustrator CS3.

    It is possible, even likely, that the text of your logo has been converted to sets out and is no longer editable. If this is the case, you will need to recreate it.

    You can enter easily by selecting the text. Entexte will look like the top line; underlined text will look like at the bottom.  (but without all the bullseyes-they are a characteristic of a newer version you have)

    Regarding the shadow: effect > esthetics > Drop Shadow you will get the dialog box to create that.

  • How to change the text in illustrator

    I am pretty competent with Photoshop and muse, but only to learn illustrator, I'm fighting. I have a Logo and I want to change the text, but cannot me. It does not show in the art Board, writing will show a compound path, not as text characters. All thoughts

    You must create a new text object. Your text has been converted to paths.

    you have a point 60 applied to your text - select the type and then go to your contour palette and select a 0 (zero pt) race

  • How to cut the text in Illustrator?

    I am lettering my comic in Illustrator, and I'm pretty new to Illustrator.  How can I cut or obscure the text?  For example, if I have the lettering on a book that is partially shot on a shelf, or lettering on the side of a semi trailer, but it is blocked by an object in front of him.  How 'block' it with an invisible object, or slice, or something?

    I realize that it involves probably change my text in a chart so that it is no longer editable.  No problem.  I just need to learn how do.  I don't know there's a great tutorials on it; I don't know how to find them because I don't know how it's called.  I thought it would be masking, but everything I tried had no effect.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    EDIT: I thought it might be useful I showed exactly the situation I have here.  I circled the two spots where I need to be able to edit the text.  As you can see on the yellow triangle, I was juggling with masks to try to understand this.

    These four panels is arranged as cards to play, with the name of each participant and the suit of the card at the top and bottom.  The problem is that you map overlays another, so I need to be able to cut name Thaddeus of the Sultan on the left and the J (for Jack of hearts) on the right.

    All the texts of four cards are on different layers, with works of art and the word balloons and text on layers separate as well.

    I THOUGHT ABOUT IT!  Trial and error, I just kept going through the possibilities until I found a combination that worked.  Thanks, Silkrooster, to show me the right path!

    Here's what I did (just for someone else who finds this and needs the solution to a similar problem).

    1. I put my yellow triangle ON the part of the text I wanted to keep in this case, the curvature of the J and the symbol of the heart.
    2. I selected the triangle layer so the layer J/heart.
    3. In the window of transparency, I used the pop-up menu corner (I'm in CS4) to check "new opacity masks are clipping" and make sure that the "...» are reverse' option has not been verified.
    4. I chose to "make opacity mask".

    That's all!  Ta - dah!

    Thanks a lot for all your help!

    (Apologies, it's really Silkrooster who had the right answer, but I am marking this as the correct answer just so that future people have a little more guidance step by step it spelling.)

  • Lights of Fireworks MX (oldschool) - how to describe the text several times, without jagged edges

    Hi pros FW... I hope it's always OK to ask questions about the MX version...

    What I'm trying to do is to create a text with several layers of contours, different colors. An example of what I am trying to learn is like this creation of logo here... http://thunderfuel.com - the logo is the text THUNDERFUEL, which has a drop shadow, then an outer edge surrounding, then another shade.

    When I create a text - no problem.

    When I do the shadow - no problem

    But when I select the text and the increase of the marquis of selection to create the external environment of color (like the outside of this logo plate) - filling becomes jagged. I tried feathering of the selection before choosing, after selection, the fill property feathered - but there always is by stairs, or too little sharp.

    Someone there advice how to use fw - mx to create this kind of described multiple text effects, or do I have to use something else like iilustrator or PS, or something else? (if all goes well no cause I have not either, but whatever...)

    Appreciate very much all the advice, or even some links tutorial for this effect in fw - MX would be perfect - thanks!

  • Keep the layer names when describing the text

    I would like to know if there is a way to keep the names of the objects/layers of text when the text is converted to text outline, using scripts.

    I create files with dozens of text layers (player names on the back of the jerseys of sport) and send the .ai file to manufacturers. This means that I have to expose the text, but when I do, the layers all lose their names and everything becomes "< Group >.

    Can anyone think of a way of naming these layers with the text they contain?

    Hi openbracket,.

    It is impossible, if the text is underlined.

    But it is possible for the text and the outline of the text via script (don't forget that the selected text is only filled with no effects or stroke)

    You can try something like this:

    // required: an opened document with one selected text frame
    var aDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var aSel = aDoc.selection;
    if (aSel[0].typename =="TextFrame") {
        if (aSel[0].characters.length < 40) {
        var newName = aSel[0].contents;
        } else {
        newName = aSel[0].contents.substr(0, 39);
        }
    aSel[0].createOutline();
    aSel = aDoc.selection;
    // name of the new Group = contents or part of contents of selected text frame
    aSel[0].name = newName;
    }

    Have fun

  • Creation describes the text using filters

    A month ago I was experimenting with the application of text filters. I managed to make the black background and the text converted to a white outline. I think I did it with the help of artistic / watercolor. I made a series of five images using this process, and now I can't recreate the effect. I have used certainly not strokes or one of the other common ways to create text: it's really quite accidental and made entirely with filters. Here is a sample. No idea how recreate it?sample.jpg

  • Describing the text for printing with effects

    Hi all

    I create a design that includes a (inner shadow) effect on a part of the text.  When I "Vectorize" to export the drawing to the PDF format (to be sent to the printer) the effect of inner shadow is denied.

    Is there a way to create outlines that will keep the effect?

    The files are attached - the original, that's what I would like, with '_outlined' at the end is what happens when I saw.

    Thank you-

    Sara

    You can do a flattening of transparencies custom which includes convert text to outlines, and who should do the conversion for you when you export as long as you export to Acrobat 4 compatibility to force the flattening, but the big question is why you think you need to convert to text converted to outlines for the printer? Built-in correctly fonts should work perfectly.

  • What is the best way to distort the text in Illustrator or Photoshop?

    Hey all;

    What is the best way to get this blurred typography, distorted, like the one above.

    I used the envelope distort tool in Illustrator. but it doesn't really give this effect; like the one above.

    Thank you

    Design of an object.  Use the Warp tool , place it on top of the object (your text)

    Navigate to the object-> envelope distort-> do with the top object , add a blur

    Here are the steps of a snapshot, hope this will help you

  • I have a book in MS Word which is all the text (no illustrations) and I need the text in the pdf file to be 100% black for our printer. How can I do this and make sure it is?

    Additional information: I use a Mac, Adobe Acrobat DC and output PDFX-1 has.

    Forget the creation of PDF/X - 1a . Use the high print quality setting.

    Then, in Acrobat, use the Color Conversion feature to convert the colors in the document U.S. Web Coated SWOP (v2). Make sure you do not check the Embed option to the profile. Check the options of Black to preserve and promote gray to black CMYK . Then press OK and recognize that the changes are permanent.

    Save the resulting. It will be exactly what ask your editor.

  • presentation of the text composed of shape of gradients

    Forgive me if this has been already covered, I couldn't find anything in an existing thread.

    I recently upgraded to CS5, but the shape comound tool has changed. I want to do full text with a horizontal gradient (orange on the left) and the yellow on the right. in previous versions, I would describe the text, convert the whole word in a compound shape, and then apply the gradient. for some reason any illustrator doesn't let me do the whole word a form composed only of individual letters. This causes each letter to have a gradient applied to it (vs the whole word).

    When I select all of the text and right-click, he didn't give me the ability to create compound path, only group them. When I click the icon of the compound path (any of them - I tried all) it also includes the text. If I put a rectangle on top the Word as a whole that it allows me to make the compound shape. Why adobe would win a feature? There must be a way to do it.

    Help?

    I don't know what you mean by the "compound shape tool." I guess you can refer to the Pathfinder palette and some of its options, but that's just a guess.

    In any case, here is a simple method which retains the live text, so you can change it if necessary.

    Select the text with the Selection tool or direct selection.

    In the appearance Panel, click the new button fill in at the bottom of the Panel.

    Apply your gradient. Move the (gradient) fill above the element in the Panel.

    Take the gradient tool and click-and-drag the direction wished your gradient to go.

    There is no need to outline the text or create compound shapes in order to apply a gradient through a Word.

  • Click on the white space of the text and to respond to the event listener?

    Not sure if I as formulated properly. I have about 6 pieces of illustrator described the text. imported into flash as symbols with the works and the set fine event listeners. but I notice that I can only click on the plan itself, if I click on the inside of an 'o' or 'R', it does not work.

    I added white boxes behind each of the symbols and that fixes the problem, but now I want to make a change of color on the symbol (text only, of course), but when I apply the transformation, but the background area and text that have the new color applied, leaving me with a rectangle. I gave the box a alpha to 0, if I did not affect alpha in the transformation of hope, the pointer would read again the box, but not go, he can't even see the box again.

    no work around for this sort of thing?

    You can try mmaking text of a movieclip object separated from the box inside a container movieclip and assign events from the mouse to the container, but the transformation to the text inside movieclip.
