  I am trying to print the darkest possible black, but simply by using the black ink cartridge. How do I get there?

  You can use the mode single-cartridge:

  Use single-cartridge in the HP printer with a single cartridge. Mode single-cartridge begins when an ink cartridge is removed from the distribution of the print cartridge. In the mode single-cartridge, the product can only printing from the computer.

  You will not be able to make such, HP will only reset the printer to the region that you located, and not for a different region.

  There is no USB connection and no movement of cartridges as in the past?  I changed cable, USB location on the back of the computer, unplugged, rebooted printer win 7 computer.  Also works with Mac book pro. DeskJet 1000.  A ran doctor HP and only could get 'no link '.

  My little Deskjet 1000 prints beautifully, but here's the problem I have: it prints with a border around the sides.  I don't want a border.  I put photo paper glossy 4 x 6 print in portrait, and there is a border of white half inch around all sides and a border of 2 inches on the bottom.  Why is this?

  hp deskjet 1000 printer is about 5 years old and has been under the back seat of my truck. I printed about 25 pages when it was new and not the have not used since then. out of the printer and now I have a dell inspiron laptop computer m531r. connected the printer hp with a usb cord and downloaded the latest update from hp. When selecting "print test page", the printer works perfectly as if it is printing, but paper comes out of the Virgin. I have cleaned the ink cartridges with paper towels soaked in alcohol, to run each test and head cleanning hp offered on the troubleshooting section. ink level indicators show the ink to about 80% full. and I updated all the parameters. I rebooted the printer and the computer. I checked and any document, when selected for printing, the printer thinks it is printing. He's even going the correct speed with spacing appropriate, etc. just comes out blank. There is nowhere any dried ink on the print cartridge heads they are clean!   the printer receives data and think it's printing. Therefore, the system does not give messages of any problem. I am concidering buying new cartridges of hp61, but it is a risk not knowing not if the problem is in the cartridge.   TS

  You are right that there is a risk to replace the ink cartridges. In all likelihood, the cartridges are dried up and the sensor is defective. New cartridges may not solve all your problems of printer. Honestly, printers are not designed to roll the shotgun in your truck. Personally, I would take the money spend you on the new cartridges and buy a new printer.

  I quite accidentally deleted the driver for my printer.  Repeated attempts to download a new driver from the HP website have failed.  As far as I can tell it is saying that it only works for Windows 7 and more.  Apparently, I have but can't find out what Windows I have other than Vista.  I can't find any disk that could be with the printer when it was purchased several years ago.

  Please help me find my printer use.  The program on my computer to make documents seens someone else has (Microsoft Works word processor), it seems that I can't take my documents to be printed anywhere.  A place called save them in pdf format, but is not an option my computer gives.  I considered buying a different document program but I don't know that this portable 8-year-old is to put $65 in new software.  I have also considered buying a bu new printer that I have worked very well until I lost the drivers.  Help!

  We will first determine if the Mac sees the printer. Please use the System Profiler to see what is listed in the tree of USB devices: OS X: identification USB ports on your Mac.

  If the Mac sees the printer, try the following:

  Reset the printing system
