DeskJet 2540 software does not open

I recently bought a HP Deskjet 2540 and it was fine for a while. It still prints well but I'm not able to open the software to analyze things more. It asks me to choose if I want to use the wireless or the USB option, and then he said: it is "recovering the device information", but then it just closes and nothing happens! What should I do?

Try power cycling network devices:

Turn off the printer and the computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press the buttons on the router).

Plug the router back in and wait another minute, turn on the printer and the computer.

Also, if it isn't already, plug the printer directly into the wall, avoiding bars, surge protectors, etc.

If the power of the cycle does not work, uninstall the printer software and reinstall the printer using the printer HP install wizard for Windows.

    You won't see anything happen after about 4-5 minutes waiting, restart the computer, and then try again the printer Assistant icon.

I generally use the date as a reference. Printing software would have all been installed on the same date.
    4. Once the uninstall is complete, reboot the computer

    I have a Photosmart 6280 all in one and once the software is installed, the program will not open. Was on the phone with a guy from HP for an hour and he couldn't help. Time to work with Win 7. Anyone has any ideas. Done an uninstall and still does not. I like Win 7, but sure would like to get my printer working.

  • HP psc 1315v software does not open

    OS is xp 3, computer dell 510.  Could not update installed software then followed to uninstall information and do a reinstall.  When I tried the cd version 4.2.0 I used before (a few times) it does not open regardless of the method that I use. I have the software loaded HP 1310 series in order to have a working printer but I wish I had the complete package (ie the scanner etc.) from the cd.  I know that this cd works because I can put it in another xp system 3 and it will start to install on this system, it does nothing.  I have uninstalled and installed the software several times over the years and had no problems before.  I wonder if there is something HP on the system that may be stopping the cd to open up. I can open the cd, but when I click on setup it flashes for tw seconds, but does not open. Shut down my antivirus and windows firewall, although she does not open.  Would like to do a complete cleaning of the remains of HP and start again because I find a lot of elements HP when I do a search.  Had to wipe the OS several weeks ago and reinstall everything, including the printer and there is no problem until I tried to see if there were updates HP.

    I see that you have a problem with the installation. It seems you have a problem with the filter upper and lower in your registry, if the CD works on another PC. Which basically means your CD/DVD drive can be properly reading the disc. I suggest do a L3 uninstall and then the registry cleaning software.

    Hi Ifound this file which seems to solve the problem you are experiencing. I don't see a way to attach the file, but you can copy the content and paste it into Notepad and save the file as fix_hta.reg. It's got to the registry > file > import file in the registry (fix_hta.reg) once done close the registry and open the graphical user interface.

    I see that you have connectivity problems.  I would like to help!

    I would recommend your computer off.  Once the computer is down, unplug the power cord from the printer and the electrical outlet and remove the power of your router for 60 seconds.

    After 60 seconds, reconnect the router.  Once the router has started broadcasting, reconnect the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

    After that the printer is turned on, run the wireless configuration.

    With respect to Mac OS 10.6... the main reason, I see that the error is if you have installed HP scanning and ICA solution at the same time.  The two solutions cannot be used on the same computer.

    I used the hp 8600 pro all-in-one for some time now without any problems.  I have windows 8.1.  the other day I tried to open the hp printer also from the desktop scanner and the software does not open.  I am able to print anything on the desktop and scanning to the desktop of the printer.

    I deleted the software and drivers and reinstalled everything.  Always the software does not open.

    The problem seemed to start after I caught the binkiland virus.  I bought spybot to remove it.  I have used spybot before and didn't have any problems later.

    Any ideas?
