DeskJet 2540

I have two desktops in our small office, both related to a wireless printer.  They have always worked great until today, when I can't print anything one of desktop computers.  In a Word or Excel document, it always says, "not responding".  Printing from other desktop computer works fine as usual.  Thanks for any help!

Thank you for your response. In fact, I tried something before the path of re - install. Something has I just restart my computer, and believe it or not, it now works fine. If have tried that first, but never even thought of before. Who would think that's all there is! Maybe this will help someone else... always do first the easy thing.

    Hello

I have a HP Deskjet 2540 printer which was working fine until today when I tried to print a PDF on the net.  I get a screen saying it is flattening, and then the printer makes a noise as if it will work and then nothing.  When I check the device, he says that nothing is waiting to print.  When I tried to print it directly from the internet (using Chrome) it just print plain paper!  When I saved the document to PDF and tried to print, nothing like as detailed above.  I am using Winows 7.

    Thank you very much

    Hi Alain,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see you are having a problem printing PDF documents from the internet.
I'll be happy to help you.

I have provided a document through the steps to see if it will solve this problem.

How to print Acrobat .pdf files? Some PDF files cause blank pages being printed.

If you're still having problems, then I would run the updates from Adobe.

    Updates.

If the problem persists, let me know.

  • DeskJet 2540 all-in-one

When you use "Scan to email" a window pops up "unable to find mail account" Although there are accounts of e-mail on my pc. the printer is connected to my pc with the usb cable and installed for use with cable and wireless use.

    Hello spoi.

Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand your concerns with the Deskjet 2540.

Unfortunately, "Scan to Email" is not available with this printer. Now, there is a solution. You can scan a document to your computer, open your e-mail account and attach this document.

What kind of e-mail do you use? If you check this, I provide steps to show you how to scan a document, then attach a file to your email.

This printer must really have a connection. You want to connect to this printer via a USB cable or wireless?

  • HP Deskjet 2540: Scanner Communication cannot be established.

My scanner does not work. I am connected by USB. I've tried everything suggested by HP print and Scan doctor. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the software for the device, but it still does not work. I'm very angry because it worked fine for 3 months. I went out of town for the winter holidays and took my computer with me. I left my HP Deskjet 2540 to my apartment. Now that I'm back it no longer works.

Here are the mistakes doctor analysis gives me:

    Driver error:

The scanning driver is unable to communicate with the product.

    HP Scanner Twain error:

I followed the steps, he told me but even after restarting the computer of the Scan Doctor is unable to solve the problem and he just told me to come here and ask online. I really need this scanner set as soon as possible for my work in the classroom. It is very frustrating that my HP Deskjet 2540 broke shortly after buying it.

Too bad. Solved the problem by changing a connection of 3 USB-a USB 2 connection. For some reason any Scanner HP Deskjet 2540 cannot use via a USB 3.0 connection.

I don't know why it is exactly, but that's what I did and now it works.

On the contrary, there may be one occurring problem of connection Wi - Fi. I'll run to configure you through some troubleshooting steps the network connection on the printer.

    • To clarify, you want to use Direct wireless with your computer or Wireless?

  • DeskJet 2540: cannot convert mac wireless usb printer

    Hello

I'm having a problem setting my printer all-in-one Deskjet 2540 on my macbook (osx El Capitan). After basic implementation through usb connection, I was able to connect my printer to my router, which makes possible wireless printing. I was then able to print wireless from my phone using remote control all-in-one app.

However, I now want my macbook to establish a wireless connection to the printer instead of the usb connection that is used for configuration. I can't find the option to convert a usb printer to a printer that is connected to the wifi. When disconnecting from usb, laptop computer notes the connection with the printer is lost. To install my printer, I use the HP Utility software, in which I can't find such an option. Also, when passing through Apple-> system-> printers and scanners preferences I can't find an option "convert to wireless. I also read a method via Finder-> applications-> HP and then an icon for installing the software & should be there? In my case, there is only the HP Utility icon which directs me to the same program in which I could not find the option.

What I was looking for, and where can I find it?

Might be a little exaggerated description, but I hope that this makes it extremely clear...

  • HP deskjet 2540: stop page print quality and 'use printer wireless without router' printing

After installing the hp deskjet printer 2540, all operating systems (vista, windows, mac os, windows 8) correctly printed.

I would like to prevent the printing of print quality page whenever the printer is on and to prevent print also the page "use printer wireless without router" (it would be better not to waste the ink).

Thanks for any help you can provide

    Hi there @lesart55.

    Welcome to the HP community!

I have seen your post on how your Deskjet 2540 prints a page of print quality every time that the printer is on, and also the page "use printer wireless without router" is printing.

I'll start with the PQ page that prints at the start of the printer, as it is normally a sign of a hardware problem with the printer.

Try to update the firmware on the printer. Here is the link to download and run the update using a USB connection to your Vista system: HP Deskjet 2540 series Firmware update

Try a reset of the power to the printer and make sure the printer is plugged directly into the wall, avoiding bars power and surge protectors. This ensures that the printer is full on and can help greatly.

Press the power button to turn the product on.
With the product, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the back of the product.
If the product does not light by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

If the PQ page always print after you are done troubleshooting, try the steps outlined in this guide below. I looked at the steps that I see would take place in the tent for your specific problem and chose the steps following, Please do not take account of the actual title.

An "Incompatible cartridge or"Missing cartridge"Error Message is displayed for HP Deskjet 1510, 2540 Deskjet, HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1510 and Deskjet Ink Advantage 2540 all-in-One Series Printer"

I hope that the problem has been cleared up for you at this stage. If this isn't the case, please call us directly to discuss your options of the printer!
