Desktop.ini file is automatically opened with notepad, during windows startup

Op system is Windows XP.  I had a type virus recently that has been taken by Mcafee antivirus and eliminated.  However, since then, whenever I connect the computer notebook automatically opens DESKTOP file. INI.  Not sure why he's doing this or how warn him.  I'm afraid to SAVE the file, so I just shut down every time.  I used Windows Explorer to browse to your DESKTOP.
