Desktop memory

I have a desktop HP a540n with 4 GB of memory and running Windows 7 64-bit professional. If I can extend the memory beyond 4 GB with new chips of memory and if so, should which tokens I buy?

Thanks for this reply, it confirms what I hoped would be the case. I had looked on the HP for the specs on my A1540n and stated that the mobo support a maximum of 4 GB that I have now with 4 sticks of 1 GB. It would have been absurd would that limintation 4 GB, but hey I know how think a manufacturer. A couple months ago I have rehabed my load and machine Windows 7 64 bit for the simple reason that I wanted to put in more memory and now you have confirmed it is going OK. And you'vd offers a good solution, same fins has... how cool is that. I shoot all the current memory and one (or two) of these babies from 8 GB to stick and get a few years in addition to this machine. Thanks again.

BF13, I don't think that memory in the link you provided will work.  The motherboard supports Dual-Channel memory.  It is faster than the modules in the link.

  • HP p6310f pavillian: desktop memory

My daughter lives in another State and has visited a week before and dropped off an HP computer, p6310f.  I plugged in and turned it and it has 2 problems.  I will only address one at a time. The computer would not start.  I used my computer to search online to HP for the p6310f features.  I took a mental note on the specs.  I lit the p6310f and press F - 10 to look over the bios settings.  The profile for HP for the p6310f indicates the memory module DDR3 M2N78 - motherboard "is supported.  The BIOS tells me there are (3) memory modules DDR2 installed.  I checked the MB model number and that's okay.  I read the info on the memory modules and they are DDR2.  Is the spec HP p6310f bad sheet when declaring the M2N78 - THE motherboard only supports DDR3 memory strips, or are the memory modules DDR2 badly installed?  I don't know the history of this computer and my daughter she recently obtained a military person being transferred abroad.  I would appreciate any information anyone can provide on this issue. Thank you

    Hello:

It seems that the info attached to the support page for this model may be incorrect.

Here is another page, the same motherboard having demonstrated that it has DDR2 memory.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01635734

If you have confirmed that the stickers on the memory of State it's DDR2 and so not the BIOS, then it's DDR2.

It is physically impossible install memory DDR2 DDR3 slots and vice versa.

The notch in the memory is divided into different locations on DDR, DDR2, and DDR3 memory.

DDR types operate with voltages different and incompatible with other DDR type.

That's why the notches in the memory are cut in different places.  To avoid shorting the motherboard or memory modules by installing the memory of the wrong type.

  • Failed to upgrade memory Presario SR1800NX desktop PC

    Hello

I have a Presario SR1800NX desktop PC, for 4 years.  The HP "Product page" Web page for this computer shows installed at the factory 512 Mo PC2-3200, 240-pin, DDR2 SDRAM.

I removed the 512 MB factory card and installed a Crucial 1 GB DDR2 PC6400 800 MHz card ( http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Crucial+Technology+-+1GB+DDR2+UDIMM+Desktop+Memory/1359891.p?id=12182533... ).  Immediately after switching on machine beeps continuously and the screen remains black.  Tried another but idential Crucial 1 GB card and got the same failure.  Removed Crucial and card of 512 MB factory reinstalled and it works very well.

HP driver download webpage, I installed the update of the BIOS & update driver for ATI chipset.  The Crucial RAM still does not work.

This PC has a known issue with RAM PC6400?

I'm sorry, my brother, is not correct.

  • HP Pavilion Media Center a1440: HP Pavilion Media Center a1440n Desktop PC ram compatibility upgrade

    Can I replace the ram (1 x pc-4200) original with 4 x1GB 240-pin DDR2 667 (PC2-5300) ECC SDRAM Desktop memory?

    Eastvanray, welcome to the forum.

This is memory that is supported by the motherboard:

    Four connectors DIMM DDR2 240-pin

    Supports PC2-3200 (400 MHz), PC-4200 (533 MHz) and PC-5300 (667 MHz) DDR DIMM

HP/Compaq approved maximum memory is 4 GB *.

Note: * actual available memory may be less

The memory that you want to install says it is ECC.  I think that the motherboard use more memory non - ECC.  Furthermore, I believe that your OS is 32-bit.  Therefore, only 3.25 GB of memory would be usable.

The trick to this is to only buy and install memory modules memory major manufacturers that ensure compatibility of their modules with your PC. Crucial memory, Corsair, Kingston, include the well known memory manufacturers.

Try to upgrade by matching with the published desktop memory module specifications [specifications is, as you know by now, a shot in the water and a financial risk.]

  • Helps control memory

    Can you help me?

I have a HP Pavilion Media center m8277c. This is an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6750.2.66 Ghz, 2.66 GHZ.

RAM and 400 GB 2 GB drive. With a max. Cap. RAM to 8 GB. O.S. 32-bit Windows Vista.

    I bought windows 7 32-bit and 4-bit. I also bought 8 GB Kingston HyperX T1 series RAM (4x2Go).

My question is. Have I not the right stuff to memory. I want to run the 64-bit windows. Here are the reference numbers for Kingston.

    240 pin DDR2 SDRAM 1066 (PC28500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model #KHX8500D2T1K2 / 4G?

I just ordered, but now I'm not sure I got the right one.   Can you help me? Thank you

    Here are the specifications of your HP m8277c desktop. According to the specifications, the following memory upgrades are supported;

    Dual channel memory architecture
    Four connectors DIMM DDR2 240-pin
    Supported DIMM types:
    DDR2-800
    DDR2-667
    Memory non - ECC, unbuffered
Supports DIMM DDR2 2 GB modules
Supports 8 GB on 64-bit PCs
    Supports 4 GB * on 32-bit PCs

It is for your HP m8277cKingston system specific memory. Kingston KHX8500D2T1K2 / 4G you have prescription is DDR2-1066 and is faster than the speeds of memory support for HP. It is possible that faster memory will be relief at DDR2-800 when it is installed in your system. The memory that you have ordered may or may not work depending on a number of factors. If you bought the memory of a blade to purchase a large political return, try it and if it does not return. Normally, it is suggested to get the upgrades of memory support.

    Hello

The memory that you have selected

    "G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) 240 - Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) desktop memory model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL.

works perfectly according to the configuration of the memory of your PC.

Memory Must select one of the following options:

    • 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 (turns the PC3-10600 with Sandy Bridge CPUs)
  • HP dc7100 SSF, XP Pro, Mem: DDR PC2700, DDR PC3200 non - ECC, 512 MB memory

I gave this computer in a family member to replace another computer, she has 256 MB in each of the 2 locations. the other 2 units are empty... The old computer is a HP Pavilion a610y with 512meg memory on a memory card. On the label, it is identified as: 0425 PC3200U-30330

    HYMD264646B8J-D43

    512MB DDR 400 MHz CL3.0

The dimensions of this card are: 5 1/4 inches long and 1 1/4 inches in height.

This will agree and will work in the computer of SSF series HP-Compaq dc7100?

Dimensions desktop memory are a standard size, only the notches in the memory stick changes depending on the type. PC3200 notches are the same as pc2700 & it "should" work in the dc7100, but will operate at pc2700 speed since all the memory will operate at the speed of the slowest in the machine.

Only way to know for sure if it is compatible is to try it. Support white tabs at each end of the slot memory to open it. Match the tab inside the slot the memory stick guts to be sure that it is oriented correctly. Press firmly until the memory is seated and white paws nearby on the ends. Turn on the power and start. If you get the boot and no beeps error, you should be good. Once in Windows, check to see if the new memory is recognized. (You can also enter the BIOS to check before Windows starts)

  • Windows 7 memory 64-bit dump blue screen while playing the Star craft 2 and Battlefield 3 in and out of sleep.

Original title: 64-bit Windows 7 memory dump blue screen

    Specifications of the computer

OS: 64 - bit Windows 7 Home Premium
It's a new generation and I have all updated drivers, bios, and Windows updates. I set my virtual memory for two hard drives (min: 8000/Max: 24000). I run PrecisionX in the background with stock settings, and Asus II HAVE suite and my CPU is overclocked to 3.8 (recommended turbo). I run CNettoyez on a regular basis to solve registry problems.
I had my new blue screen of generation of dumps from memory, about four times since I built it. It comes into play, i.e. of Starcraft 2 and Battlefield 3, and once when he came out of sleep. I ran a memory test, and he says that he has no problem. Suggestions or anything like that, I need to test again?
On a side note: don't suck my HDD or is it decent? 1 TB, 3 Gb/s, 32 MB cache. My OS is on my SSD as well as Torchlight 2, and the rest of my stuff on my disk HARD of Starcraft 2 and Battlefield 3, media and stuff.

Thanks for your help. I think that I thought about it. The "timing" on my ram is disabled, so I manually set in the BIOS and see what happens.

Also, it would cause W7 to freeze coming out of sleep? I had this recent problem where when my computer out of sleep and it wouldn't wake up and my CPU LED should blink slowly. After turned it off, I will re-start and it would be nice, but now it is that whenever I put it in sleep mode.
  • Upgrade memory - this computer does he?

I have a Pavilion XE783 desk top. It's an old computer that I would like to use for my children. I don't know how many GB of RAM, it came with but I would add more if possible. Could you tell me what is the max RAM upgrade for my machine? If necessary. I opened the machine and it has two empty slots, but I don't know if they are for memory or something else. Exactly what kind of RAM would I look online or in a store?  Is there another suggestion to improve the overall speed of my machine? Thanks in advance.

Max Ram is 512 MB and it has 2 slots, so you would need 2 x 256 meg PC100 desktop memory modules.

    Online memory store

Above is a link to a picture of the memory and a place to get it for about $50 for 2 x 256 sticks. I won't answer from this seller, but at least it shows you what you need. If I remember this model memory is hard to get, being upwards under the power.

It has a processor Celeron 700 so with 512 memory he would go quite well Windows XP and Windows 2000 really well.

He came originally with Windows ME, which is a train wreck, an operating system, but for children to school stuff and some simple games that would work. I just would not ME on a computer to the internet.

    Hello

My e9280t (truckee mobo) originally shipped with 9 GB (four DIMMs of 2 GB and a 1 GB dimm memory) with an open slot.  I pulled the one 1 GB dimm and installed two DIMMS of 2 GB to stimulate the system to 12 GB.

I have used CPU - Z to check dimm specifications and purchased the corresponding DIMMS exactly as the original 2 GB DIMMS.

Your case is slightly different, but you need to match the timings of 4 GB with what to avoid potential problems. Generally faster DIMMS will clock down to the slowest DIMM, but there are no guarantees in life.  Find out what the return policy is before you buy.

If you need to go ahead and buy three 4GB DIMM and remove all DIMMs and install the new DIMM Bank 0 of each channel and the everything works.  The diagnosis of HP memory startup made a reasonable job to test the DIMMs. Or you can download the memtest86 iso and burn to disk using the Imgburn.

Once you are convinced that the new DIMMS are good then fill in the blanks with three DIMMs of 2 GB. Re-run the diagnosis.

BTW, Windows 7 Home Premium will limit memory 16 GB , so you will need Pro, company Ultimate addressing more than 16 GB.
