Desktop PC HP Pavilion p7-1414: Ram speed question

I just got 16 GB of Corsair Dominator 1866 Mhz ram. The computer is automatically set to 1333 Mhz speed. I went into the BIOS [I think it was the Bios] and there is no option to change the speed of the Ram.

Because the BIOS firmware is done to promote stability and security, I don't know if the update can do RAM reached 1600 MHz

    Hello

I recently bought your desktop HP Pavilion p7 1414, I am trying to boot from a CD to reinstall Windows 8 - I put the CD to start first in the BIOS, but when I restart the computer and I have the CD, "press any key to boot from the CD" is not displayed.  It starts just directly to the computer HARD disk in Windows to connect.

I have 64-bit Windows 8. 6 GB of RAM and a terabyte of HARD drive space.  I'm looking to reinstall Windows 8 for a new start.  Any ideas why it won't boot from the CD?

The card would be acceptable with your power of 300W. But - you will need to modify the UEFI BIOS to accept the new card.

  • HP Pavilion 15-ab234na: Ram compatibility

As topic says, I was wondering what it can take the RAM. I know that the vehicle currently has a 1 8 GB stick runnig at 1600 MHz C11

    The processor is an i3-5157u, I wanted to know if she can accept a 1866@C10 Module 4 x 2 or 1 x 8.

I also know, it's a new product but, when I go to the support page and look for the manual, I don't see any specific information in the user guide.

Also in the same page is the guide to leveling Star Wars Special etc. Which is irrelevant to this particular model as the gpu and the CPU is different. Please fix this.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

    Update on the RAM.

I bought a SODIMM 2 x scan 4 the other day, put them in and see how it would go.

1 wanted to channel and good 16 GB is too much really right now.

    2. more than ram speed = better speeds iGPU.

in any case go to the essential, it actually runs on 1866@C10 with no problems.

  • Is RAM speed issue?

    Introduction:

Hello, I ran some tests today to see if RAM speed really makes a difference when it comes to After Effects. In short, my conclusion is that, no, it makes no difference. At least not for the type of project I tested it with. Here are my conclusions, but first of all, my system specs.

    System Specs:

Intel Core i7 - 3930K (4.3 GHz OC) cooled water

120 GB Sata II SSD for the OS and programs

256 GB Sata III SSD for the files of project and after effects of Disk Cache

16 GB (4x4Go) Corsair Vengeance RAM (hourly stock are 1600 MHz @ 8,8,8,24)

1 GB Nvidia GTX 460 SE

    Test project:

The project involved 6 AVCHD videos played simultaneously and a few very basic effects such as corner pinning and cc removal of thread. The after effects memory and multiprocessing settings were as follows. 5 GB reserved for other programs, 2 CPUs reserve for other programs, 2 GB by heart.

    Results:

    1333 MHz, 12, 12, 12, 24 @ 1.57V

    Render time: 03:22

    1333 MHz, 7, 7, 7-24 @ 1.6V

    Render time: 03:17

    1866 MHz 9, 9, 9, 24, @ 1.57V

    Make the timer 03:14

    1866 MHz, 12, 12, 12, 24 @ 1.57V

    Render time: 03:19

    2133, 12, 12, 12, 24 @ 1.6V

    Render time: 03:15

    Conclusion:

So, in my tests, I found that RAM stpeed is not really play a big role in this situation. However, after thinking about this a bit, I realized that this is probably due to the fact that my RAM must load data from and data dump to my SSD in this project. Even if my SSD is able more 500 MB/s had R/W, it is still not even remotely near speed, were one of these RAM speeds.

So my question to you all is then as follows, can you recommend a type of project with effects that will mainly use the RAM without having to access my SSD? While my tests show a good example of 'real world' of the effects of the speed of the RAM, they do not show the full picture. With your recommendations, I'll create a new project that will best contribute to the effects of the speed of the RAM and add these conclusions about it.

Yes... just a little space to fit... you could literally get 8 + of my tricks inside of your and still have room.

In any case, I did a few tests more and discovered more interesting things on the search for the best speed of RAM.

    Test project

Just a rubix cube in rotation with 6 iterations of keylight to key of all colors. The AE memory and multiprocessing settings were as follows: 5 GB reserved for other programs, 2 CPUs for other programs, 2 GB by heart. See original post for the specifications of the system. NOTE: I increased the frequency breaks through a little following GHz 4,427 during this test.

    Results:

NOTE: Purged of the means I have "purged all" immediately before you click the record button.

    Purged of time 1: 03:45

    Time without purge 1: 03:20

    Time without purge 2: 03:18

    Conclusion:

These figures all seem to be pretty conclusive that the most important part for After Effects displays must have the total latency as low as possible. So if you're in the market for RAM, get some will give you the lowest total latency, even if it means the passage with the 1600 MHz RAM on the 2400 MHz RAM. The argument according to which the higher latency will consist in transfer rate does not appear to apply here. In fact, it makes sense because a single address in RAM should contain nearly 500 MB for just a difference of 8ns in total latency. (Actual capacity of a single address is probably considerably smaller than that. I sent an email to Corsair to know what the maximum capacity. I'll post here again if they ever come back to me). So in the example above, where cpachris can run either 1600 MHz to 24 777 or to 10,11,10,30 2133 MHz, it would be MUCH better off running at 1600 MHz.

    Other important details:

Intel says that the speed of RAM they recommend is 1600 MHz (Haswell of 1866 MHz however). I think it's because the hearts intel (at least those I did research) have a clock (bclk) standard base of 100 MHz. everything is based on this bclk. Your CPU frequency is generated by multiplying the bclk by a number. So for 4.4 GHz would multiply you a bclk to 100 MHz by 44. Pretty simple. RAM has now (I think) a multiplier locked which has the value 8. 100 MHz x 8 = 800 MHz, multiplied by 2 for Double data rate (DDR), which means, gives you 1600 MHz. If you try to set your frequency high that WITHOUT changing the bclk then you RAM may very well be running at 1600 MHz, just with worst timings.

Now, if you were to increase the bclk for 116.625 your RAM frequency would become 116.625 x 8 x 2 = 1866. The tests I ran support this. In the original post, I had my bclk of 100 MHz (RAM max of 1600 MHz frequency). This test showed that, if I went more than 1600 MHz there is no advantage. In the next round of tests, I tested only the values min and max for those who do not give a picture complete. In the last test I boosted my bclk to 116.5 who gave me a RAM of 116.5 x 8 x 2 = 1864 MHz frequency. It is at this frequency that I gave my best results. So, if you use valued at more than 1600 MHz of RAM I encourage you to try to increase your bclk to where it corresponds to the frequency of your RAM and then run tests to see if that makes a difference. I'll go back and try to run the same tests with 1600 MHz to see where that falls to help support or defeat my argument.

If someone objects to my statements above, please comment and let me know why so we can understand this stuff. All my findings are based only on some readings I've done and what my test results show.

    EDIT:

I just ran some tests more and got subsequent synchronizations during execution of 1600 MHz at the time 8,8,8,24.

    1st series of tests:

    1600-888-24 (latency total 30ns)

    Duration: 03:14

    2nd series of tests:

    1600-888-24 (latency total 30ns)

    Time:05:34

The time difference between 1600 and 1866 enforcement was minimal. It was exactly the same time for the first test and the time of 1600 in 4 seconds slower than the calendar of 1866 came. Compare the differences to run the same tests AFTER increase the bclk and this discrepancy increases to 15 + seconds. (by only comparing tests performed to the highest cpu frequency because that plays a very important role in the performance).

  • Impact of the RAM speeds on site/server

Hi and welcome to the Finland!

I am suppose to accuire new material and I don't know what is the most effective way to go.

I have two options at hand: the R900 and Poweredge R710/R910.

I just wonder, how much speed RAM (not the amount but the speed) affect a server that will host a website? The site/s is / are quite heavy and at least put a toll on the side of viewers of the performance, but since the R900 supports only 667 Mhz RAM, is really worth to at least double the budget and go for R710/910 supporting 1333 Mhz RAM?

The speed of RAM affect a server that much?

Overall the R900 would have a total of four 2, 94Ghz quad-cores and about 100 gigabytes of RAM, 15 k HARD drive of

The R710/R910 would have about one-third less the CPU performance and about 50 gigs of RAM, you would be 1333 Mhz.

    Think you folks?

This is an issue involving too variable. In the past, I've seen servers with slower speed ram perform easily out of servers with faster ram, in general, it is the reverse.

«The R710/R910 would have about one-third less the CPU performance and about 50 gigs of RAM, you 1333 Mhz.»

CPU speed trumps ram speed usually, especially 33% difference, even taking into account the web servers are mainly intensive reading.

Not sure how much disk space you need, but if it's a reasonable amount I would look in SSDS for extreme drive speed. If no SSD, and if you have the resources, raid 10 is fast enough.

Why my new performance as Corsair is defined by the hardware to work on the low clock speed, also is there nothing in the BIOS to change the clock speed of RAm etc.

Could someone help me in this regard?

    Thank you

    Hello:

I can't tell you why the performance of WEI memory went down, but he certainly wouldn't.

The faster the memory will run in your computer laptop is 1333 MHz, because it is the fastest speed of the processor i7-2670QM FSB can run to, so installation PC3-12800 (1600) memory provides no advantage.

The original memory regardless who did, should have been 1333 MHz.

You need a PC with an Intel 7 series chipset and the 3rd generation of processor core to memory to operate at its rated 1600 MHz.

    @sooperglew

Only using three DIMMs will force the PC to run in single channel mode.

Your first consideration should be Support HP or HP sales during the consideration of upgrades or replacement of memory. If you want to consider other manufacturers of the best way to avoid memory problems is to contact one of the leading manufacturers of memory. I would recommend that you try the tools of these manufacturers: Corsair, Kingston andCrucial. Once you have determined the DIMMs that you need, then contact commercial or technical support to check that you have selected the correct DIMMS. If you buy directly from manufacturers, then they will stand behind their products.

    Hello:

The specs say also that the maximum amount of memory you can install in each location of your PC is 2 GB, and since there are only two slots of memory, which is the maximum amount of memory, you can install your PC is 2 x 2 GB regardless of 32 or 64-bit.

HP tends to put this notation to OS 4 GB 32-bit on the set of their specifications.
