  • Malware 'Vista Internet Security 2010'

My wife's computer uses Vista Home OS and installed Panda Internet Security (updated).  I used this antivirus / firewall for many years without any problems.  An app called 'Vista Internet Security 2010' literally took over the regular computer pop ups saying that it has detected the main recorder software and lists a large number of another virus which he claims to have detected.  This application is not visible under installed programs and I found impossible to remove it or disable it.  Constantly, he asked at registration and of course a payment and blocks all access to the internet.  Another popup when opening internet explore request permission for a file named "av.exe" to access the internet.  I looked for this file (System and hidden files visible), but it is not visible in the given location.

My main computer with this particularly vicious malware infected family member.   I followed the instructions in a post on this site about MalwareBytes, but who has failed for me.

I was finally able to disable temporarily by running the Windows Task Manager.  Use this, I have found the application of 'Vista Internet Security 2010' and kill a few minutes both pure and simple.  Then, right-click on this entry for the purposes of ' Vista Internet Security 2010 ", I could then click on 'Go to the process' to find the name of the rogue processes involved."  For me, the process of thugs was appointed AV EXE.  Then, I was able to find and remove the AV. EXE file.

However, it was catastrophic in terms of my computer in general, since I've found while the rogue malware had also changed my registry.  In fact, some. EXE registry entries had been modified to refer to something as "DRY".  My general for registry entries. EXE, were damaged as well.  For example, after killing AV. EXE, my computer had almost ceased to exist.  I could run any. EXE to all programs.

But, finally, I have found that I coulld run. EXE by right-clicking on them, running programs 'run as administrator '.  I was then able to repair my broken registry by setting the. EXE file association link, by the use of http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/165/1/Restore-the-exe-file-association-in-Windows-Vista-after-incorrectly-associating-it-with-another-application.html.

The procedure described above may not be perfect [there should be managed independently by someone else].  But it can be useful.  This virus is particularly nasty.

PS by the way, I have to admit that I was also a little irritated by the people of Norton AntiVirus.  Their software, I paid a few dollars over the years to use was useless.  I called support.  Rather than use my case as a way to improve and fix their software, they wanted to charge me $99.  The end result is that over time, I intend to go to MalwareBytes.

  • Phone call suspect on malware virus. Should I have one?

I received a phone call from "Gary", who said he was from Microsoft and that I had a malware virus on my computer and it should be supported until my computer became free.  He took me to the beginning/right clik on my computer/manage/event viewer/application where a long list of files with the information/error/warning in the left column came with files etc in the other columns.  He said this had to be cleaned and he could do but my Windows Security had expired and I need to restore WS for $129 for 2 years or $199 for 5 and then it would be "clean" my computer for me that would take an hour or two.  I told him I had no money and asked his phone number call at the time where I did.  What I always if Microsoft wants.  Anyway, I went to the MS site and ran the malware software and nothing came as a threat in the analysis.  I have McAfee running and nothing comes it of scan either.   In any case... is this guy legitimate?  My computer has a problem of malicious and ready to come out of the blue screen program?  How will I know?  My computer seems to work OK, but he said that when I go on the internet that someone is trying to hack in.  I know that this potential is still there, that's why I run an antivirus program.  Some programs are better than others?  Help me please to clarify all this.  Thank you

  • Norton Internet Security 2010 automatically close Windows Defender? __

    My set up:

Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium, Vista SP2

    HP Desktop

    Modem DSL Connection

    Norton Internet Security 2010

I just installed Norton Internet Security 2010. I get a pop up notice of Windows indicating that Windows Defender is disabled. When I had Norton Antivirus/spyware 2008 (that I used until the installation of Norton Internet Security 2010) Windows defender was on, but not in real time.  Then, when I'd go to

The Task Manager > click on the Services tab > click on the Services button in the lower right

This will display a list of Services. I scroll down and find the Windows Defender Service

It shows NOT on and manual start

Before the instalation of Norton Internet Security 2010, it has shown as Started and startup type automatic

Is this the right setting with Norton Internet Security installed? I do not use Windows Defender, but I read that the Windows Defender Service is responsible for other things in addition to anti-spyware scanning.

So should I change the startup type?

    and start the service?

Or, as I said if I don't use it. leave it alone?

    Q. "Norton Internet Security 2010 automatically closes Windows Defender?"

    A. Yes.  It uses its own antispyware software.  Having two different types will result in conflicts and compatibility issues.

  • Local access only after the Network Systems Security 2009 malware removed

I'll try to put all the details that I can here, but my laptop that has the problem cannot connect to the Internet so I won't be able to copy paste n info. Last week, I was struck with the 2009 malware security systems. It was a pain to remove because it stopped all the work programmes and I could not install malware removal software. Finally beat him by renaming the main program folder 2009 for the security of the systems. That he has stopped working when I restarted the laptop and then I was able to install the malware removal software and took remoped.

Here is the problem. Now that he is gone my network connections wireless and wired no longer work. I get local access only on an unidentified network. I have Windows vista Home premium and use internet with a modem model Cableone cable Motorola Surfboard SB5101.

Then I called a cable tech support first and they could not help and after all the service works very well on my desktop the same modem and connection. So I called Motorola tech support and they had me do a lot of things for hours (including reinstalling the drivers for the modem) on the phone without effect. Finally, they suggested that I have re-download all ACER Aspirion z9410z drivers and reinstall them. So I did it. Copied to a flash of my desktop drive and reinstalled them. No luck.

The respectable and sharing Centre, explains that the modem works correctly when you look at the status. But the auto for windows diagnostic tool says to check the IP settings automatically and reset the network card. The two fail to trouble when ran. Here are all the parameters of the network connection.

    Physical address: 00-1A - 66 - AA - 64cB
    Active Yes DHCP
    Autoconfiguration IPV4 address 169.254.195.250
    IPv4 mask subnet 255.255.0.0

    FEC0:0:0:FFFF:3 1%

IPv4 and 6 are defined automatically detect the IP address and the DNS.

Hope that gives enough information. There no mater if I use eithernet and USB to connect or wireless. I have the same problems.

Another thing that can be part of the problem.

It started after removing the systems security 2009 malware as well.

When loggin, turned off the laptop, a blue error screen appears. Here are the details generated for it. I'm working on the research of which the question is to be set by the online search.

    Event name BlueScreen

    OS version 6_0_6000

I hope I will get this fix as well.

Any help will be greatly apprieciated. If more information is required only, let me know and I'll get it.

    Hello Oxilas,

I suggest that you use a friend/co-worker Vista DVD and do a repair installation.

    Repair facility:

You can reinstall your copy of Vista while keeping your files, settings and programs by performing a repair install or an upgrade on the spot with the following steps: (Note: this still does not resolve all problems, especially if the corruption was caused by a 3rd party program or service, you may need to do a clean install) (if this is not successful.)

    <><><><><><><><><><><><>

Please make sure that you back up all the important data before you continue. Please visit: methods for your backup files.

Always make sure that you have the means to reinstall your programs, or by an installation disc or access to the installation files.

    <><><><><><><><><><><><>

    1. Insert the Windows installation disc in your computer's DVD or CD drive. You must start Windows installation while running your existing version of Windows.

    2. on the Install Windows page, click install now.

    3. on the get updates for installation page, we recommend getting the latest updates to help ensure a successful installation and to help protect your computer against security threats. You will need an Internet connection to get the installation updates.

    4. on the Type your product key for activation , we strongly recommend that you type your 25-character product key in order to avoid problems during activation.

    5. on the page Please read the terms of the license , if you accept the license terms, click I accept the terms of the license.

    6. to the which type of installation you want? page, click upgrade to begin the upgrade. You can see a compatibility report.

    7 follow the instructions.

Note: If your installation disc doesn't include SP1, and you are updated, then you must uninstall it before proceeding with an update install. Start-> Control Panel-> programs-> see installed updates, then select Service Pack for Microsoft Windows and click on Uninstall.

Note: Tit the following settings is reset by default:

    Its computer system

    Device drivers

    Visual effects

    Windows Mail

    Windows services

If you notice missing files after the upgrade, look in the following folders:

    C:\Windows.old

    C:\$INPLACE.~TR

    C:\$WINDOWS.~Q

These files can be eliminated with disk cleanup as "records destroyed by upgrade to Windows".

    Delete files using disk cleanup
