Desktop won't start no-of faulty power or motherboard?

Compaq Presario SR5000/Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit

I had this problem for a few months - the Office doesn't turn back on when I unplug and plug it back and the green light of the power cord blinks. Based on the troubleshooting guide from HP for this flashing light, I was able to isolate the problem to the connector 24 pin main that feeds the motherboard. Whenever I got in this regard, the light was stable. Thus, the last two times I've been able to bring the office back to life by unplugging / plugging the 24 pin connector.

This time, of the power supply does blink everything as long as the motherboard is powered but puts constant green when I get this connector.

I tried the hairdryer mentioned here http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware/Desktop-won-t-start-blinking-green-light/td-p/4467 but stuff that no longer works.

As the POWER light turns off when I have the motherboard power and turns on when I win, I don't know which replace - block power SUPPLY or the motherboard but obviously one of them is the question.

Power supply model #: Bestec ATX 250 12Z

Thank you!

Power supply failures are much more common than the failings of the motherboard... and less expensive to replace. I have a machine now sometimes, which flashes and takes a few coachig at startup if unplugged for awhile and anticipates a new power supply in the near future.

If you check the specifications and dimensions, you can buy a replacement WHAT PSU to many points of sale, or online at places like Newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com pretty cheap.

You could also first remove the power supply and take it to a place that makes the PC repairs and ask them to test it. I bought a tester of POWER a few years ago that saved many hours of troubleshooting.

I have a 1318NX Compaq Presario SR which will not start!  There is a green light flashing on the back of the power supply; which is normally green 110V AC is plugged into it.  I tried the trick of the Start button while not plugging the power cord... no help.  I also opened the case and carefully got rid of any power cord of all internal devices... the light turns green only when I pull the main power of the motherboard!

I need to replace the motherboard?  Troubleshooting on hp.com site would indicate that the power supply is OK if the light is solid green.

My wife's computer had the same problem several times. A solution I found that worked before was to unplug the power cable from motherboard and the power supply cable to the back of the PC and then connect the power cable and plug the motherboard power cable while holding down the power button. Scary, to say the least, but it worked, until one day I accidentally spilled the bad circuit breaker and then spend two hours trying the same solution with no luck and the Google search again. And here's what I found. It is the simpler solution even more cruel. It is simple and noninvasive and no matter how tech savvy you are. Take a blow dryer and turn it on to blow air at the rear of the power supply for a few minutes. When you see the light turn green, you're ready. It's worked for me after that it worked for a hundred others, maybe more. A look at the testimonials on this site: http://talk19.wordpress.com/2008/01/13/hp-m7088d-power-supply-led-blinks-green/. It's a shame that nothing like that appears on any site of HP. So don't waste your money on a new MoBo or PSU. All you need is dry hair of your wife.

  • Satellite L550-1CW does not start by pressing the power button / stop

I have a Toshiba Satellite L550-1cw that won't start, lights up when I press the power button all the lights at the front, the fan starts and he is looking for a HARD drive for about 2 seconds and then stops.

I tried a new HARD drive, but the same happens.
I was told that all this must be ignored and buy a new one that is not an option.
I love this laptop and want to run again as this is the best I have ever owned.

Can you give us more information on this vulnerability?
You see something on the screen after pressing the power button?
You can access the BIOS by pressing the F2 key immediately after switching on the device?

Despite this whole issue, I think that if nothing is visible on the screen it could be a serious problem with one of the following: RAM modules, motherboard, CPU/GPU.

From my experience the RAM memory modules are not very expensive (2nd hand might be good enough) and the replacement isn t very delicate in the case where the faulty memory causes this problem, the laptop could be set for a little money.

But in case of problems of motherboard, laptop repair procedure could be very expensive.

  • Computer won't start; 3 long beeps, the fan turns

    Hello

I have a desktop HP equipped of Windows Vista that does not start correctly.  When I turn it on it looks like it is starting, I hear the fan, the computer will beep 3 times in a row (I would say long beeps) then stops and beeps 3 times in a row again.  Then nothing on the monitor, fan always running.  If I didn't get anything I think that the computer and the monitor's energy-saving.

Before I turn it on the screen says no signal so I think the screen itself works.  I don't quite see the HP splash screen.  Pressing F8 during startup seems to do nothing.

I created Vista backup discs (food?), but I don't think they are bootable.  Some back story: a few weeks ago, I tried to download Windows Live.  After installing the updates, I could never Live DL and the next day I got the blue screen of death.  I rebooted, you press F8 repeatedly and Windows started normally.  Although it worked fine for a few days I felt nervous that I did a restore of the system around October 31.  Everything seems to be ok for over a week but now I have this problem.  I thought to upgrade to Windows 7, but do not know what to do at this point.  I've never opened a tour - answers Google talk out of ram or certain types of error of keyboard Bios (3270 keyboard card).

Help, please!  Sorry to be so long.  :-)

  • Dimension 4700 desktop will not start

I have a Dimension 4700 desktop computer that has been sitting in storage for a while. I wanted to start and see is there something to this subject that I had to save or erase the hard drive. As far as I know, it was working fine when it was put away. Now it won't start at all. Here is what I know-

    Dimension 4700

Service etiquette: ADMIN NOTE: Service tag deleted by privacy policy >

    running Windows XP Home Edition

Power light turns on and remains lit (green). DVD players do a rotation test (but will not read a boot disk). The hard drive light comes on and stays on.

Does NOT display a Dell spash screen. The screen is blank (black) with the exception of a simple white flashing cursor (line underscore). It crashes in this condition.

Does not meet the keyboard commands (ctl + alt + del, esc, f8, f11... etc.). Does not respond to reset (press power button in disable).

Diagnostic lights are lit on the rear panel. A, B, C are all stable and green. D is amber and regular.

All inner and peripheral cables seem to be properly fixed.

When the power to the hard drive cable is removed, it does NOT POST beeps (the condition is the same).

I can't get to the Setup screen. I can't boot from a cd. I don't get any sound signals (beeps).

It is out of warranty, and troubleshooting knowledge base sent in a recursive loop items that never exceeded the step #2. Someone at - it suggestions?

Because it has been stored for a while, first stage, with the PC off, is to reinstall (unplug then plug back in) all the memory, PCI cards such as video, sound, etc. and all cable connectors.  Make sure that when you plug the points back in that you get fully and correctly reinstalled.     Back off and see if that makes a difference.

  • Qosmio G20 - won't start, error ATA #1

I have a G20-102. Today I opened my flash drive and files all showed them as shortcuts. I tried to connect to Firefox 4 and a warning from AVG threat came pointing to C:\windows\system32\mssrv32.exe (Tr/Crypt.xpack.Gen3) as a Protection of identity. I opted for the "Move to vault" option and asked to restart

Now my pc won't start - I get the Qosmio screen, ATA error #1 (CD player has been removed) and then the screen "rolls" - looks like random pixels flashing on the screen. I'm trying to start safe mode, but F5, F8 or any Fkey is not doing

To make things worse, the CD rom has been removed, faulty, so I can't boot from another device. I don't have a USb in the BIOS, only FDD option which I did not

    Help, please

    Hey,.

To me, it looks like a serious hardware malfunction

You could try to load the default settings in the BIOS. Enter in the BIOS, and then press the F9 key to load defaults. Then save & exit the BIOS and try to start again.

The HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS? If so I try a recovery disk Toshiba recovery installation and check if the problem is hardware or software partners.

  • MacBook won't start - completely back screen

    2015 12 '' MacBook

My MacBook won't start. I put on various points of sale and even changed on the brick of cable and power (I have an extra).

Nothing happens when I press and hold the power button.

Any suggestions before I take it to the Genius Bar?

Here is some information that might be useful.

After I press the button for a few seconds, the trackpad does not haptic feedback, confirming that this is the start.

However, if I press the power button once again, I get haptic trackpad. It tells me that it is on, but I always get a black screen. And if I press the caps lock key, no green light appears.

  • 4600 won't start

    Hi, community,

my pro sat suddenly won't start. only power led flashes. Got out of the car, a piece of metal appears to be noise. But - if the drive is broken - shoulnd't the laptop will start anyway? Thank you for your help in advance. Wolfgang

    Hi, Wolfgang

Yes, the machine must be able to start up indicating at least the TOSHIBA logo without the optical drive and fixed.

Some background info: flashing DC-IN means that you have a problem of power supply to your machine.

Please delete what you can without using a screwdriver. PC card, battery and so on. If you have 2 mem cards remove one.
When everything is there, try to restart the device. Keeps blinking? If you had 2 plates of mem, remove the still inside and install another one in another location. Try again. Always the same?
So I guess that there is a physical problem with the machine.

If the machine starts normally, try turning off and to reconnect one removed items at once turn on the machine after each reconnection.
Test them one by one and see if you can find out if there is a specific that causes this problem.

    Good luck!

    Tom

  • Satellite P300-156 won't start or by MAIL

    Hello

I have a Satellite P300-156 I bought a few months as damaged. The screen has been damaged and the case slightly cracked. I replaced the screen and hard drive and main card seems to have no physical damage. I've been running this system for 3 months now without any problem but, today, for some reason, it won't start or even POST. It powers on and the CPU fan starts to turn then stops and does nothing. No display (I tried external). CD player works. No beeps.

I tried reinstalling RAM even open completely and reinstalling all connections, nothing done. Does anyone have an idea what component is gone? (CPU/GPU/RAM)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you

Did you update the BIOS or something?
For me, this is a normal behavior when the BIOS chip is faulty.

  • Equium u400-124 won't start

    Hello

After 4 butterflies guaranteed my laptop stop work. Fine charger work, also the battery is fully charged.
I have no drop anything on laptop (water or drinks) even not to drop on the floor. Just after the closing won't start again

no lights, nothing. Any suggestion that is the problem?

    Hello

In my opinion modules RAM must be verified in the first place.
Remove a module and test the laptop with each module in each slot.

But the diagnostic procedure would be more difficult than if the laptop wouldn't start even check the bars of memory in this case, the problem could be related to any part of the motherboard, theoretically the problem could be related to faulty CPU, motherboard, etc.

So in this case a laptop technicians aid would be necessary. :(

  • New Satellite P300 won't start.

I hope you can give me some advice. This week, I bought a new Toshiba P300 GU with Vista Home Premium. It worked fine for about 3 days, but now it won't start at all.

    Symptoms:

    * - Some LED lights blink for a second, then they stop again.
    * - No fan or drive noise.
I tried to remove the battery and power cables and left the computer for a day before trying again. There is no difference except for a few plus-lumieres LED flashes for a second, the first time I try to start the computer. The next time I try, only a few lights flash again.

After I discovered the startup problem I noticed that food is quite noisy. I also noticed that the machine has a small mark RENS in the plastic in the upper left above the screen. (Looks like a defect of manufacturing error or transport) You hardly notice the 1 cm small inconsistency in the plastic, but it doesn't look like a normal scratch.

As I thought that food could be the cause of the problems because of the strange sounds, I brought the maschine to a PC technician today. He tested the food and said it was working normally, but he also said that this should not seem like that. He did not open the laptop, to not cause trouble about the Toshiba warranty.

I bought the computer to the Denmark I wanted a Danish keyboard. However, I live in Portugal, where I use the computer. Where is the PC now.

Do you recommend that I contact an ASP to the Portugal to fix the PC or do you propose I have return the PC to the merchant at the Denmark?

The ASP will be able to exchange the screen and power supply that are not in the State, they must be good obviously both?

    Thanks for the tips!

    Hello

First of all I must say I never had problems after 3 days of my new Toshiba laptop but these things happen and no manufacturing activity is perfect.

In addition, I agree with you. I would bring the laptop to an ASP because it seems that this motherboard is defective but I do not know Mr. it's only my personal opinion, and therefore the laptop should be checked by a technician for laptop.

As far as I know that the laptop is covered by 1 year international warranty and so I would contact the ASP in your country. Ask them if they can fix your computer laptop and if not, you must communicate with other ASP where you bought the laptop.
I think this is the best solution because they can tell you what to do exactly.

Good luck and I m sure that your laptop will be repaired as soon as possible.

    Welcome them
