desperately slow iTunes

For awhile now, my iTunes works very slowly to the point where the slightest click on a song or a playlist takes sometimes 15 minutes for the whirly disc to disappear.  I am running the latest version of iTunes with osX on an old 10.9.5 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo with 4 GB 667 mhz ddr2 sdram.  My library is huge at 150 k elements, with many playlists.  Any advice on correct this please.

I used the same iTunes version on the same computer for 10 years now. He got slower and slower and the only thing that has changed is the increasing number of items. I've added almost any playlists. So experience:

(1) reduce the size of your library.

(2) increase your RAM. 4 GB is relatively low for any modern use.

(3) reduce the number of playlists, including smart playlists.

iTunes recalculates all whenever you do anything so the more things that you will need to recalculate and calculations operations have more than you should be.

Hi, I have been asked to Toshiba USA this post here because my laptop is a European model.

I recently received this laptop, if it is still new and so is the installation.

The laptop is TOSHIBA SATELLITE C55D-A-149. I realize that it is a budget laptop and processor is quite low. But still, it came pre-installed with Windows 8.1 and as much as I know Windows 8.1 is not optimized for laptops / tablets slow but mine is a very bad performance.

Startup is slow, file manager is slow, reducing a window takes to always and so forth.

To determine where the problem is that I ran a cross-platform of reference on my machine, which is on Windows and on linux Ubuntu. I used a live CD to run Linux without installing it. The reference tool used was Geekbench3: http://www.primatelabs.com/geekbench/

The benchmark results can be seen here: http://browser.primatelabs.com/user/87755

And we don't know how Windows 8.1 is trolling.

What is the reason for this poor performance?

If Windows 8.1 is really the problem would it be preferable for me to remove it and install Windows 7? But I don't want to lose my authentic copy of 8.1 because it is what guarantees the next Windows 10 free update. Is it possible to partition the hard drive and does not lose the recovery partition?

    What are my options now

Well, the Satellite C55D-A-149 was equipped with the fast processor 1 GHz AMD Essentials E1-2100

This processor does not provide the best performance... so its necessary to change the system to obtain an appropriate return for laptop.
First first of al I recommend you clean the system using the CCleaner. Its freeware software and it allows you to clean the registry, as well as to remove "garbage" and the files stored time.

In addition, you could disable some background processes and tasks that are not really necessary...
I think this should help you to get the system working well.

With regard to the installation of Win 7:

If you want, you can install Win 7... the new installation of the OS can be useful, but all additional software would not be installed automatically, you can choose between the unique utilities...

  • PCI-4065 desperately slow

Straight out of the DMM examples. The acquisition rate faster than I can get is about 1 per second reading. PCI? This is not acceptable. I get more quick purchase of a serial device. Someone knows how can I speed things up?

I forgot before but a mode of the LCA of default wait time is 1.5 seconds and the Cycle of Measurmeent DMM will wait for the break-in, and then the opening time. The path is AC coupled and could take a bit of time to settle if the DC component changes.

You can try to reduce the Configuration: Advancedes time property to something more reasonable than your input signal.

  • MacBook running slow

    Hello

Nearly six years ago, I bought a MacBook 7.1.   The operating system is Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10 K 549).

I noticed in the last few months he began to run quite slowly.  Web pages will take much longer time to load, and switch between different programs on the MacBook can be desperately slow.  This beach ball was appears much more frequently and recently that I've known a few kernel panics, never having had one before.

I understand that my MacBook is old, but what I can do to help speed it up?  I don't want it to become unusable, but I fear that that is the position in this way.

    Thank you

First question is: how much free space is left on your hard drive?

  • Satellite U400-177 with the slow start of vista

About two weeks ago, I bought a computer laptop satellite U400-177, with an operating system installed vista Home premium. Since the first moment, when I turn on the machine, the operating system startup is desperately slow! It takes about five minutes for the laptop end the beginning to start working! Is there something I can do to compensate for the departure faster?

    Thank you!

    Hello

    I m U400 owner.
I must say that a lot of apps is preinstalled by Toshiba and this could affect the startup time

First of all, you must either update the Tempro tool or you should remove it (if you need t n).
Second, you must start the msconfig and in the Startup tab you could disable some not important background processes.
I put t know what is important to you and you want to use applications.

If you n t know the meaning of some process then google for that in most cases, you could get a few details

  • MacBook aluminum agonizingly slow

My aluminum macbook is desperately slow. I run an application called own memory that shows around 500 MB of ram of 4 GB is generally available. If Safari is not running. I have about 30 GB hard disk of 160 GB available. I restart, but it doesn't help much, or for a long time.  This computer is just too old? (end of 2009) I ran the first aid on hard disk utility after a few months. Am I missing something?

First of all, get rid of 'own memory' and any other optimization or clean the software you are trying to run. These are garbage.

Second, stop looking at the amount of RAM available. OS X, like most modern UNIX-based systems is designed to use as much RAM as possible as cache to improve performance and will release RAM as required for some applications.

    Finally, download Etrecheck from http://etresoft.com/etrecheck.

  • slow internet connection in Windows xp

I am running Windows XP on a computer advent portable Version 2002 SP2, processor 1 .50GHz, 224 MB of RAM with Norton Antivirus 2010. Connection to the internet is desperately slow. It comes to any Web site. If I boot with the internet cable already attached it may take up to an hour to connect; without cable, another application such as a spreadsheet or Word, to the well, program then work mudra stop just when the cable is inserted. Once logged into a site, I often get the message no response or slow response. Sometimes, after a certain time, improves the response and I can use internet as usual, although this fair deteriorates again. Manager tasks indicates nothing is pounding the CPU during this time, although there is a noise suggesting that the hard drive is very active. Any ideas would be appreciated.

224 MB of RAM isn't really enough memory to run Windows XP.  What is probably happening is that your RAM is get used to the top and you're overflow "Virtual memory" where the computer drive hard is used as the necessary RAM, it didn't.  This leads to an almost permanent access hard disk and slows down the computer to a virtual crawl.

Really, you should spend your RAM to 1 or 2 Gigabyte if it will manage your computer.

  • WRT54GL: Fast cable internet connection; very slow wireless

I have been chasing a problem for months and I am at the end of my mind.

I started with a cable modem Motorola SB5101 and Buffalo bison wrt-hp-g54.  For years, we had a (intermittent) desperately slow wireless connectivity.  Recently I started to run through Speakeasy.NET speed tests to try to find a motive.

Wire speed is consistently running 15-16 Mbit/s, compatible with the speed promised our cable package.

Wireless speeds were a different matter.  From multiple computers, they would sometimes as soon as the wire speed; then all of a sudden (from all wireless computers) the speed would fall to 0.5 Mbit/s or less, then the speed measured on our single wired computer remained at 15 Mbps.

Restart the router would mitigate the problem for a while, and then the wireless would fall up to 0.5 Mbps.

Wire speed would remain stable at the nominal 15 Mbit/s.

Well, looked like a bad router.  I replaced it with a WRT54GL hardware version 1.1.  I've updated the firmware to the last - v4.30.16.

I selected a channel (2) wireless network what inSSIDer 3 watch is not used by any neighboring router (i.e., no interference).  I have that checked regularly and am sure that interference is not the problem.  The router is configured for the wireless G only; WPA - AES.

The same problem occurs with the new Linksys router.

In desperation I replaced the old modem SB5101 with a new SB6141 cable, not believing there could be everything possible that could help but, this what the devil - we will eliminate it as a factor as possible and go to DOCSIS 2.0 to DOCSIS 3.0.

    The problem persists.

Thus, new router, cable modem brand new, constant wire-speed, without strong signals wireless, channel interference all around. but the problem persists. There has been no improvement on the old hardware I used.

All computers, but a (XP Pro) is running Windows 7 Pro.

The problem is not predictable, except that the speed degradation will happen sooner or later - and this is not progressive.  Suddenly, he fell like a stone and sticks to 0.4 to 0.5 Mbits/sec.  Reboot the router (usually) will fix it for a while, and sometimes it will clear up on its own, given enough time.

I ran inSSIDer several times while this is happening, but he sees no other no signal on the channel I use--in fact, none on adjacent channels either.

I checked from wireless to the router table and there is no other than our device, so it does not appear that the network has been hacked.

Does anyone have an idea what might be going on or suggest an action plan?

The only thing I can think is that there is something between the router and the computers wireless in the House which is eating up 95% of the bandwidth wireless - a sort of voting out of control.  But what?  I'm completely stuck.

Follow-up.  I changed the channel 1 wireless; After doing some research I realized that sharing a channel (as long as your signal is at least 20 dB louder) causes fewer conflicts overlapping channels.  I have not changed anything else.  I'm tempted to allow the break-up of the frame but implementation of that seems to be somewhat specific to the supplier so I'll let it be.  In any event the wireless speed now as fast as the wire speed.

The result is that since the re - install the Linksys firmware and do a hard reset that I saw not a single instance of the speed problem.  So I still don't know exactly what caused in the first place, but I'm glad that the problem has disappeared, so I'll just let things be.

    Thank you!

  • Very slow performance with Windows 7 on i7 Quad

I bought my wife a Lenovo E530 i7 quad with screen 1600 x 900 and running Win 7 in September 2012. Previously, she had an Asus Core 2 Duo also with Win 7. The laptop is used to picture (scanning, editing, cataloging) work, family, the navigation and email history.

The E530 was desperately slow at the beginning. Not better, not faster than the Asus. Performance seems to vary from slow to excruciatingly slow.

    Features include:

    -very slow to open programs

-slow to react to the choice of menus and clicks

-slow to react to the touchpad

-scrolling is not smooth, vibrates, much worse than Asus

-often distorts the sound and video, audio stutters

-IE9 make often video has properly - green band across the bottom with the rest of the colors shifted upward - change the video quality will fix it sometimes

-very slow internet response compared to the other machines on the same network of navigation.

However, startup speed seems to be OK.

I spent weeks (months?) through the forums, verification of updates, deletion and restoration of various programs and drivers looking for driver clashes. I tried the clean boot with only Windows drivers and various other combinations, and it made no difference.

For a long time wifi would be max 54 Mbps but somewhere through the process he begins to operate at up to 300Mbps.

Nothing seems to stand out in reports on health of the system and the event viewer. Windows experience scores seem to be everything I expected from my older i7.

Resources and performance monitor reports a problem with the hard drive:

The average disk queue length = Max 16 = 106

    %Idle = 0

    Disk read/s Ave = 0.093 Max = 3

    Disk sec/Transfer Ave = 0,067 Max = 1

    Disk s/write = 0.022 Ave

Even when the computer runs slower the CPU usage, and memory usage is not mounted and ceiling ever.

SFC report any breach of integrity.

FixIt MS - slow performance does not detect any problems.

The disk check is not a problem any.

It's so frustrating that my wife threatens to throw it in the trash and buy a Mac (the horrors :-)).

Any ideas on what I might have missed or what I should look at?

    Thank you

We believe that we have made changes both in the application and upload it to our server during the summer that improve performance.  If someone reading this thread continues to have performance of download problems, please post a reply or start a new thread in the forums for Revel here.

  • After printing a page, when I try to print again it says print function is not available

I have a Canon MG6250 connected via USB. I run Windows 7 with all latest updates and the version of Firefox is currently 38.0.5. Since some time, probably about a year, starting after a new version of Firefox, I think, I have problems printing. (Sorry I don't remember which version it started happening.) Unless I'm waiting for the printer to prepare completely, although the print dialogue box appears and I click on print, often (not always) nothing happens. If I try to print again I get a pop-up window indicating that the print function is not available. If I then close Firefox and try to restart it, it tells me Firefox is already running. I have to put an end to its process through the Task Manager. Often, I want to print from several tabs already charges with the pages to print. Even if I managed to get the first tab print, somewhere along the line the same thing often happens: before I printed the tab page from the last I get the box pop up again and I have to end the process of Firefox to make it work again. I can generally prevent his happening if I monitor the activity of the CPU of my computer (via System Mechanic) and make sure that all activity ceased after printing a tab until I try to print on the other. This makes printing of desperately slow Firefox!

I don't have any problems printing of any other application.

Note that relatively recently, due to a failure of the system disk, I reinstalled Windows and all my software. I was hoping that a by-product of doing this can solve the problem with printing from Firefox, but it didn't.

I would be very grateful for a solution to this problem.

I continued to use IE with no problems printing. But then after Firefox 3.0 came out I gave it another go - and the problem seems to have been resolved. No matter how much time I spend in another tab and select print, it behaves as it should. Thank God - Firefox is so much better than IE.

  • iPhone 6 s photos not sync form iPhoto

I created several albums in iPhoto after syncing my phone. When I try to transfer them to my iPhone via iTunes 6s, it synchronizes only a few photos in albums and not all of them. I also have events to see if I could solve the problem, but when I sync my phone, the same problem persists. How can I solve this problem? I contacted customer service and they couldn't help me.

I use a powerbook OS 10.9.5. I don't want to upgrade to the new system because the last time my computer started running very very slow. iTunes and the iPhone are the latest available versions.

I'm going crazy trying to fix it. Help, please!

    Thank you!!!

Go to your pictures folder and find the iPhoto library here.

Right (or control), click the icon and select "Show Package Contents". A Finder window will open with the exposed library.

Look there for the iPod Photo Cache. Trash. Start iPhoto and try the sync again.

  • Equium L40-10 X: need details on memory

I think to upgrade the RAM on the above, but can't find the model or specification on the UK site (other members of the family range Equium are in the "Portable computers" section of the Web page, but my model is not frustrating!).

I am particularly interested because I want to get the right type of memory (original or generic) - users can help me on this?
My main reason for increase the RAM memory, is that the laptop seems desperately slow with 1 GB of ram standard which I think is mounted 2 x 512 MB.

If all users have other tips to speed up the laptop, let me know.

By the way, turning takes about 50-60 seconds and shutdwon 40-50 seconds, is this normal.
