Detected CMOS battery failure

If after system start it shows "the firmware has detected a CMOS battery failure. Press Enter to continue. "It happens every day when the computer is idle.  When the computer is used, no problem.  But I'm tired to reset the date/time and disconnect the power.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If you have a desktop PC and then unplug the power and remove the left side cover, locate the size of coin lithium battery and replace it with another identical, available from supermarkets, chemists and computer for less than $5.00 stores, if you have a laptop that is a little more difficult, take a look at this you tube video :-

Make sure you get an identical, the height may vary as well as the voltage.

You will need to set the date and time to the seed first.

  • dc7600 PC CMOS not remember settings after battery failure

Re: dc7600 Convertible Minitowers, 3 GB of RAM, an 80 GB HARD drive and what looks like a power supply 365 w.

This PC is not used for several months and is not plugged into the socket to the wire while it is unused. When

I recently started it again, it will start automatically, without my press the power button. Rather than running

normally, before starting in Windows, he had a cursor at the top left of a black screen and counted through which

I guess is the MB of RAM, because he stopped counting when he got about 3000 MB. Two error messages appeared then,

the Advisor first of all that the system configuration has changed since the last start of the system, or loss of power for the real time

battery had occurred, and the battery may does not work properly and may need to be replaced. I had to press F1

    to continue.

The second message begins with the number 163 and advised that the time and date were not set, perhaps because of the loss

the on-board battery power and say once again the battery may need to be replaced.  I have once again pressed F1 to accept this,

and then it started and ran normally, allowing me to reset the date and time.

To try to solve the above problem, I have:

-install a new CMOS battery (twice, in the first new was doubtful)
-reset the BIOS to default factory settings (twice), using the F10 BIOS settings, I don't see a rider pass

    on the main map.

When I leave the PC plugged into the electric network power, after it was closed (quite rightly), it will be

Start with happiness and function normally without any problem when you press the power button.  However, if I shut the PC down

and unplug the electric network, when I try to restart, he always goes into RAM, count, error message and

Date audit/reset process again. The PC works perfectly after this sequence of events.

So far, the problem persists.  It is obviously not a HARD drive error or the operating system, so are there other things that can be done

to address the problem, for example. flashing the BIOS, or I'm looking to replace the motherboard?

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

    Concerning

    PS

I leave the PC plugged into the power supply, due to the fact that the power supply in my area is

subject to spikes, Browns and thunderstorms outs.

    Hello Paul

I tried all your advice, and I still get the same problem, so it seems that my motherboard is not detecting the battery for some reason any. Probably a symptom of living in the tropics - we just went through the season of more heavy rains on record.  I'll mark this as complete discussion. And start looking for a replacement motherboard...

Thank you very much for your help and for taking the time to respond to me!

  • Equium A210 - replacing the CMOS battery possible?

My Toshiba Satellite A210 - 1 4 seems to have a CMOS battery problem because it does not keep the BIOS settings.

I bought a replacement battery and a/c mains adapter to remove the a/c power problems but the POST beaps and CMOS keeps a checksum error and once in the BIOS and save the settings, it starts successfully, but if the laptop restarts or is off this all over again. I've also updated the BIOS successfully is not of the BIOS chip. The only thing I can think is to replace the CMOS battery - is it possible?

I read that some are soldered on? Would this laptop Toshiba service to replace the CMOS battery / audit failures - if so, how much would it cost, or someone else can do that the laptop is out of warranty.

    Advice please?

    Hi Emases2010,

As I know some batteries are fixed/soldered to the motherboard and t is no substitute, but I think that only a laptop computer technician can give you a detailed response.

Normally, you can load the CMOS battery if you leave the AC adapter plugged in overnight or in the best case 24 hours. After this, the battery must be fully charged.

  • Help for Satellite Pro M10 RTC CMOS battery replacement

    I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 PS630E-G206C-FR

I tried to charge my main battery in full and then leave the machine in charge while it is turned on (I said it is a method for the CMOS battery)-without any result.
    .
My questions: do I have to replace the RTC battery (ie: is it refillable welded or a CR2032 battery shows or similar).
If a specific type, the best source?
And also, where it is (I'm comfortable with disassemble my laptop having replaced the LCD cable already)
    Thank you
    David

    Hi David

Do you need help? What you mean exactly, step by step disassembly procedure? Maintenance manuals are not public documents and I'm really interested if anyone can offer assistance to you.

When you want to swap the portable RTC battery almost entire must be dismantled. Believe me that is not the procedure of 10 steps and to do something like this, you need the disassembly instructions. I recommend you to check how it will be service charges because that when they disassemble the laptop they can clean at the same time and the laptop will be as good as new.

If you want to do it yourself, it is very important to use authorized by Toshiba replacement batteries or real. Battery wrong installation may cause a battery explosion, or other damage.

    Please be careful about this.

HP dv7-3065dx Entertainment laptop.  Win 7.

Battery HP detected the battery capacity alert system is very low error 601 (internal battery).  So I changed to a new battery CR 2032 cell.  Showed the same error. I changed to another new battery CR2032.  The second time I did it, I got a new CMOS 502 error with error 601.  My clock back to 2009, I lost some of the icons at the bottom right and my WiFi was gone.

Now, I have two things that need to be corrected.

I turned on, immediately hti ESC, Fig. system press F2, battery Test:

Primary battery failed test (on the first battery I put in, does not check the second)

Control - device Mgr - HP power adapter - Batteries - Microsoft, Microsoft ACPI compatible with battery and Microsoft composite battery control method show that they work.

System CMOS/real clock shows his work.

Microsoft System Mgmt - BIOS Driver v. 6.1.7601.17514 from 21/06/2006 says it's the latest version.

I have updated manually my clock. I'll understand the wireless and the icons later that I guess.  Just need to know what to do about errors.

    As I said many times.

  • HP G6 series: what change the CMOS battery buy for my HP G6 Series?

I need to replace my CMOS battery. My laptop is a HP G6. When I search the product number sometimes like a G6-1b60us. One new replacement CMOS battery I see listed on eBay are for HP G6-2000. This CMOS battery works for my HP?  I see those listed that are for HP G6-1000, but they are all used. Is this the one I need to buy? Thank you very much.

    Hello

You asked for the CMOS battery. But the 601 error indicates that this is the MAIN battery that powers your machine. Now, pull, get the part # and order one for your laptop. But before that, you can test according to the following instructions.

    Windows 7:

    http://support.HP.com/au-en/document/c00821536

    Windows 8 and 8.1

    http://support.HP.com/au-en/document/c03325217

Case of failure, you need to buy the new battery.

    Kind regards.

  • Did I lose my settings RAID if I remove the CMOS BATTERY?

    Server Dell Poweredge 1600.

My server running, but I get no message, no video and no beeps because a disabled person the speaker in the BIOS.

I've heard to see if the CMOS battery is dead, but we have important things that has not been saved to disk.

I'm not an expert on server but I doubt that disabling the speaker in the BIOS, if these options are still possible, stop a post and video output. I do not see how a dead cmos battery stop post I have an iomega Server I play with dead circuits RTC so cannot keep time and I started successfully without cmos battery installed. So I would say there is something else with your hardware, you need to find flaws...

As a first step, I would take the minimum system needed to post (2 DIMM, 1 CPU and none of the cards or HARD drive) and see if you can access the BIOS. Then put back one item at a time in the system and get to see if you can get into the BIOS with each addition... The issue that causes post failure corresponds to the faulty but if cannot post a minimum configuration, it may be the power supply, dimm or mobo, cpu...

I also understand that the RAID configuration is actually stored as metadata on the HDD of the themselves, while the RAID card to know these specific HDD are inserted into the slots. As the RAID metadata is at the disk themselves, they can be moved to another (compatible) system where the HARD drive would be considered a foreign configuration. After you import the foreign configuration, you will have access to your data.

But I haven't played with moving HARD drive between the RAID cards in other systems, so don't know the intricacies of the compatibility. If something is not that you can always loose DataUn so do not have a backup is to ask for trouble...

(So now I should listen to my own words and go make a backup now )

  • Satellite Pro S300-120 does not start after replacing the CMOS battery

    Hello

    My friends laptop - a S300-120 - was having a few problems.

I replaced some parts about this before, including a screen crack with no problems.

However, he began to refuse to start saying "out of battery CMOS, Press F1 to enter setup". Of course you would have to do this, set the date and time, except & restart only to get the same message. We have replaced the CMOS battery with a with the same serial number and now the laptop will not boot.

It does one of two things.

It is one) seems to turn, turn to the top disk & CD player, cooling fan is 100%, then flashes the POWER ON led once, twice by orange, and then green to 1/2 second intervals, with no response from the keyboard or LCD.

Or (b) turns on, turntable, does not turn up to cooling fan, POWER ON witness remains stable, no response from the keyboard or LCD.

I re-assembled the laptop several times & can not find all the missing fittings or obvious signs of damage.

The only thing I can think is that the motherboard has been damaged - somehow find replacements is delicate.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

POWER ON led once, twice by orange, and then green to 1/2 second intervals, with no response from the keyboard or LCD.
Usually, if the voltage in abnormal feeding malfunctions when IN DC will be blinking orange.

In my opinion, it looks like a problem with the motherboard :(
Eventually, you will need to replace the mobo ;(

  • Portege A100 - where is the CMOS battery?

Can someone tell me where the CMOS battery is located in a Portege A100, please?

    Hello

Why, you want to know where is the CMOS battery? You want to exchange it?

I think this question can anybody answer here because it s only a user to user forum. Never saw here authorized technicians or anyone from Toshiba.

Regarding your question, you should contact the nearest authorized service provider. They can answer any technical questions and also to exchange the battery for you. ;)

  • Qosmio G20-106 - exchange of the CMOS battery

    Hi all

I need to change the battery CMOS of my G20-106. Is this possible without having to disassemble the whole laptop? Where is the battery? Thank you for your help.

    Best regards

    unclescrooge

    Hello

No, as I know it is not possible to do
As far as I know the CMOS is welded somewhere on the motherboard and you would need to disassemble the whole laptop. This can be really, really painful procedure.

But why do you want to remove the battery?
The CMOS battery is charged and it should be possible to load it again.

  • Re: Where is the CMOS battery in Toshiba NB100?

    Hi guys,.

I disassembled my nb100 and have been to look at the motherboard for centuries, trying to find the CMOS battery.
Basically, my netbook is not in the bios, it is just stuck on the Toshiba start screen.
so I thought I would try to remove the cmos battery to see if that could fix the problem.

So if someone could please tell me where I could the cmos battery?

    > Basically my netbook will not go into the bios, it remains just stuck on the home screen Toshiba.
    > so I thought I would try to remove the cmos battery too see if that would solve the problem.

I doubt that this will help you solve this problem
First and foremost the CMOS is soldered to the motherboard (in most cases).
I think there must be a problem with a motherboard if the laptop is unable to pass the POST (power on self test).
Basically, all that might be affected; RAM, etc.

I think you should check the RAM first, if that is not enough, then an ASP should try to reflash the BIOS, otherwise the motherboard needs to be replaced.

  • CMOS battery dead in Satellite M40. What should do?

My cmos battery seems dead as my date and time settings are not retained.
It is true that it is not easily replaceable part, only that it is soldered on the motherboard? If that is so the solution and the likely cost to replace it? (Im in the United Kingdom)

    Thank you
    Kieran

    Hello Kieran

You are right. Replacing the CMOS battery is not so easy on laptops. The whole notebook must be disassembled to gain access, but replacement is possible.
In any case, prior to do any start your laptop connected to the power supply and leave 24 hours to load the CMOS battery. Maybe it helps.

Check please the 112 page in user s manual RTC battery 24 hours (System).

    Good bye
