deterioration of the health of the battery

Is this normal?

I have a mac book pro mid 2012 that I recently replaced the battery. The battery has a theoretical capacity of 5770 mAh, with only 9 load cycles, the maximum load capacity is spent at 5301 mAh.

It worries me because the battery replacement is not cheap and I want to make it last for a long time.

Installing a third party in a MBP battery is like playing Russian roulette, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.  Several third-party batteries are prone to early failure, in particular the negotiating those can cost more in the long term than Apple.  To date, based on the experience of former members of ASC and mine, only two brands of third parties, the batteries have shown to be acceptable with Mbps, Anker and NuPower.

Download CoconutBattery.  It will show you the ability of original battery for a new which can be compared with the results that you are experiencing.

Ciao.

If I leave my machine "off" for a week or two the battery capacity decreases by 20%. Assuming that the battery capacity is 2.5Ah (it takes about 2-3 hours to load 'off') this means that it uses at least 0.5ah / SEM, which equals a minimum continuous drain of 3mA.

I have had the machine a few months and would have not waited any deterioration of the battery for this technology (in a former existence that I spent many years in the search for the battery)

    Hello

Sorry that I have to repeat that, but it's really normal that the battery loses 20% capacity if the laptop is off for a long time. Even on the night stack ability goes down 2 to 5%. I don't want to talk about batteries for mobile phones or other products, but for mobile phones is really nothing unusual. The same thing happen on my laptop Tecra.

  • sudden loss of the battery?

I'm a X201T, two year old battery 8 cells. I had certainly noticed a deterioration of the battery life, up to about 2.5 hours of active work. But suddenly the battery won't charge at all and I am informed the State of the battery is low, time to replace. Interestingly, this occurred after that the machine has passed a couple of weeks off, not used at all.

Should it? I had assumed a gradual decline to zero, not a sudden death of the absolute. Would it be a problem in the Power Manager software, or something like?

Thanks for any help you can give me. Greg.

It is not unusual for one or more cells in a Li-ion battery to fail after a couple of years. The result is that the battery is completely dead or suddenly drops a large amount of reported load, for example going from 80% to 40% in a few seconds. This can happen if you leave the battery at 0% for an extended period of time.

One thing to try: go in Power Manager battery information tab and click on "Battery maintenance" to try to "Recondition" the battery. If this does not work the first time you can try once or twice more. No guarantee that it will work.

  • How to protect the health of your battery on the t420

    Hey,.

What is the best way to protect the health of your battery? When my laptop recharges and 100%, will again be the discharg and charg battery upward or the laptop gets its power directly from the power supply?

    THX in advance

My recommendation is to install ThinkVantage Power Manager. Then the battery tab, and then click maintenance of batteries. This allows you to set the Mode of Charge to something like min 40%/max 80% in order to avoid charging the battery to 100%. Keep the battery at 100%, while the ThinkPad is on AC for long periods will hasten its deterioration.

  • PC Health Monitor - assessment of the State of the battery on the L50T Satellite - A (2)

I'm not allowed to add to the previous thread on this topic... it turns out that my question is not answered as monitor of my laptop is, after two days, returned to showing the battery in "fair" condition... because he did evidence the battery as in "good" condition I've charged the battery completely twice and always allow discharge to sub 10%... not partial at all.

Someone at - it bright ideas?

I guess you are referring to that another thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//thread.jspa?threadID=77775

From my point of few PC Health Monitor software work properly but probably the battery is in good condition and as a result, you should check with a new battery.

  • PC Health Monitor - assessment of the State of the battery on the L50T Satellite-

Last week, I bought a brand new L50t-A-145 8.1 Windows running. Beautiful machine and apparently everything works perfectly.

However when activating the PC Health Monitor, he recorded the drums as being in a State of 'fair'... which means that there ' a loss of capacity, but it will meet the needs of most users. For a new machine, it is simply not good enough... I have a P845t that is over a year who never recorded the State of the battery as in anything other than "good" condition.

I did a number of things (which, I hasten to add, I never had to worry about the P845t or also any other Toshiba laptop)... (1) I charged the battery completely and let run for sub 10% at least 6 or 7 times; (2) I uninstalled PC Health Monitor and downloaded the latest version on the Toshiba site and reinstalled (3) I completely reset the computer. All to... nothing is done, the battery status still shows as that 'fair '.

The reason for which I got a number of options, is that it seems to me there is nothing wrong with the battery... it does not seem to take longer than usual to load and I appear to get the proper use of the machine as she throws... my little finger tells me that there is nothing wrong with the battery.

However, in contrast to previous cell phones, this one comes with the sealed battery (one wonders who the nutter who thought about this or has it been done to overcome the concerns of airport security and other?). Therefore, if it turns out that something is wrong with the battery, it would mean the withdrawal of the front rear and associates of concerns. Or is it strange reading symptomatic of another potential problem with the computer?

So I am sending you the machine backwards, but requested, before, if anyone out there can think of something else I can do to check the situation?

Please keep in mind, I'm not particularly bright when it comes to computers, so any advice must be specified for a layman to understand!

    Thank you very much.

    Lindsay

Thanks for the comments. I don't know what went wrong, but the essential is that everything is OK again.

Discount to zero has been the good method to check the hardware and software features.

  • Satellite A660-17 t - PC Health Monitor shows the problem with the battery

I have an A660-17 t I've had since November 2010, I used a good amount, but not always on the battery, I believe that the battery has between 10 and 20 on this charge/discharge cycles.

I have updated the BIOS to v1.80 when I got the laptop, everything seemed to go well. Recently, in the last 2-3 weeks health monitoring software reports that the battery is in poor health, showing that the capacity is reduced to 40% of the original capacity. I do not believe this like when I work on battery I get several hours of use.

I have today updated BIOS v1.90, although there is no changelog that I can find, he says just "enhanced features" or similar.

Is this really a faulty battery, or it is somehow that the software correctly reads the value of the capacity of the battery due to a change in Windows or another change in the system? I don't see how a battery can work for the same amount of time it has always done and actually have a fault.

Any thoughts? Should I return it to the retailer and report an outage, or is it worth the wait to see if a future update of operating system or driver solves this problem?

    Thoughts welcome!

    Hey,.

    > I do not think this as when I work on battery I get several hours of use.
This means that you have the same time remaining on battery as before you saw the error of the integrity PC monitor?

In this case, it seems that the battery is ok and it's maybe s simply the wrong tool of Toshiba information. Then I recommend to reinstall PC Health Monitor, which you can download from the official website of Toshiba:

Hello. I think you have to "train" your new battery to the load sensor give real information about it. You must make a minimum 5-6 charging cycles. For this you need full - charge it and unplug the AC, wait for the battery to go until your portable computer shuts down (you can work on it as usual) and then full - charge again. The repetition. If you have used your new battery for a while, then, perhaps, you would need more charge cycles.

PS-once I had a message on the State of health of my battery in L - 50. I've done full-load/full discharge for about two weeks. Now the status of my battery is still good.

  • How can I check the battery on 4S?

I have an old iPhone 4S.  Lately, it seems the need to run down like its drain more, but little or no running applications.  I have try to disable wifi not at home so that it tries to connect to those that I can't use.  But the battery I don't know maybe just petering.  How can I check to see how healthy is it?  I'm in iOS 9.3.5.  I'm not running the location Services for ex.  But ask how can I see how many times he's been charged, or there at - it a good free or paid software that will tell me his health?  Sounds to the purchase of new phone 5 or higher at some point, but cannot yet.

Try the 'Autonomy' application or make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple store. They will test the battery for you.

  • Replacing the battery?

Hello everyone. First of all, I'm sorry if this question has already been asked... I need your help, so my 6Plus will turn into 1 year in June, and I noticed that my battery only lasts not even one more day, I reinstalled iOS several times thinking it might solve my problem, but does not, so I was wondering, is it possible to ask Apple to replace my battery while it is still under warranty? I do not if I have to pay to replace it, I just want to have a battery that lasts at least a full day. Thank you in advance,
    Kind regards
    Theo

Make sure that you restore like new (and no backup). You will then need to reinstall your applications and your digital content all over again; no backup. If that doesn't help, take the phone an Apple Store or authorized service provider. They will tell you if the battery has deteriorated or not.

  • Portege Z30T.-a. -from the battery shows "fair."

    I recently bought a new PORTEGE Z30T-A PT24CE-01600EN5 a few days ago

It is pre installed Win7 and I upgraded to:
Microsoft Windows OS Version 8.1 Pro 6.3.9600 with their CDs

In any case under PC Health monitor battery health shows always fair.
I just bought it and I'm a little leery because I had TOSHIBA PORTEGE Z930 before and even after a year, he showed for the battery.

What is a normal situation? Could check you your if you have a similar model?

A new laptop and I take the battery isn't calibrated correctly and therefore it does not reach the full charge capacity.
You will need to calibrate the battery charge and discharge until it would be entirely empty.
Repeat this procedure three four times in the line and then check the status of the PC monitor once more.

Also when I do an análisis of the health, the update of the internet does not work although I am online!

    Hi Brahma

You can create a detailed report on the State of the battery to double check the battery status.

    1. go to Start / all programs / Accessories. Click on the command prompt and select run as administrator.

2 in the command prompt window, copy / paste the following command.

    powercfg-energy-output %userprofile%\desktop\energy-report.html

    Press ENTER.

This create a file named energy - report.html and place it on your desktop.

3 go to your desktop and double-click the file to open.

Scroll to the bottom for the battery: battery information section.

    You will see:

    Rated xxxxx

    Xxxxx full last Charge

    (Where xxxxx is a number)

Copy this article and paste in an answer here, for analysis.

  • Laptop battery only charges to 79%. Think I've changed the settings earlier to save the battery of thea, but now want to 100% load again.

My laptop battery is ok, but still only charge up to 79%. And stop there. What should do? I changed the settings as soon as possible to save the battery, but now wants to load 100% again. I can't find where to change them back.

If you start in System Setup (BIOS) - before any loading of the operating system - and look at the section health and charge battery... What percentage watch battery is charged it?  What status?  If leave you it in the BIOS and let it load this way - it's 100% top?  If so - what happens when you start in Windows?

(Trying to confirm this, it is an error within the OS and not a hardware problem).
