development of 2D/3D games for playbook

Hi all

I'm looking to do a game app (possibly 3D) 2D for the playbook, but I trying to figure out what game tool would be more appropriate. It seems that there are a number of options, such as AIR, javascript and HTML5, native development kit, etc.

How do you make the most of the games graphics in 2D for the playbook? For example, what API do Angry Birds (for the playbook) or similar usage? I am trying to understand who performs best on the playbook and has the richest API and load active community. I prefer AIR/ActionScript 3, but I'd be open to C/C++ or anything else.

I looked in Starling using AS3 and tried to make it work with the playbook, but did not succeed. Is it supposed to work with the playbook?

Thanks in advance!

Until there is support Stage3D in the AIR (and it does seem like we are going to see any time soon) the native SDK will probably be your best option to build a smooth 60 fps game. That said, games like Dillo Hills are are using the GPU of the AIR rendering mode, but which has its own set of issues. Your example, Angry Birds, was done with the native SDK.

  • FlashBuilder is required to create AIR for PlayBook games?

    Hello

I have a client with some games to AIR that is interested in them to publish on the BB, but they are done with Flash. With Flash CS 5.5 I can convert it to AIR and deploy on Android.

But if I go to the page "Download the SDK" of BB (https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/air/download/sdk) and it says that I need Flash Builder. Is that absolutely necessary? Is it possible to publish Flash games for PlayBook?

    Thank you!

FlashBuilder is not mandatory for creating AIR applications/games for the PlayBook.

I personally built several apps/games for the PlayBook using nothing more complicated that a plain old text editor and tools of command line to build, sign, package, deploy, etc..

There will probably be a BBM API for AIR, as RIM told me that my IM applications should integrate into BBM to stay in App World. A few months ago they said it would be later 'this year '.

  • Games for windows live cannot connect

Games for windows live cannot connect to the internet, this problem started last week when I tried to play Dawn of war 2 online. At that time I was running Vista Ultimate 64 bit and after exhausting all existing boards on this site and many others, I decided to completely format my PC and start again with Windows 7 64 bit, but I have the same problem exact. only now my profile is no longer stored on my PC because I formatted so I can still play offline.

After trying to connect, it says "the profile could not be connected to LIVE. "There may be a network problem or the Windows Live ID service may not be available" option on the GFWL client network status says:

    NIC: Local 2 network connection

    Internet IP address: not connected

I have made the following recommended to others in similar situations, has passed all the recommended ports (TCP 53,80,443,3074) and UDP 53,88,3074, installed and running Windows fix it, Microsoft.Net 4.0 update, installed and run Winsockfix, disabled windows firewall (I have not installed any other protection software yet) compatible UPnP on my router, changed my static connection type and still no progress. My router is supported and I am in a country supported direct (UK). This my independent being, but I also experience certificate errors when you use Microsoft sites, which is strange as I said that the Web site of the company that developed the program that I use is dangerous. It's my totally finished in guys any help would REALLY be apreciated. Cheers.

I can't believe ive finally resolved, hours after validation. the button on my motherboard battery had been dislodged and my date and time have been reset in 2009, whenever I stop my PC. everything is working fine now GFWL working and no more certificate errors.

  • What is a video game for Windows XP always run on Windows Vista?

My sister wants to buy a video game for the computer. But the game says that it works under Windows Me /XP/ 98. This game will always work when used on a Windows Vista?

Not a guarantee. Changes in technology and sometimes on the way, old programs break. The reason why many do is simply because the way in which they were written. Some programs are hard coded to check the version of the OS during installation, if Setup program fails to find a suitable BONE, it was designed for (XP = 5.1, 2000-5.0), it refuses to install. It is a bad practice on the developers part that Microsoft is working with third-party developers for the development of Windows Vista to discourage.

  • Submit for playbook

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Hi downloaded my file with the + button under the heading of liberation, it was a generation with the SDK for QNX 10.0.0 Marmalade + and now, I would like to submit a version for the playbook 2.1 +. How should I present this new version of the same game.

Also he accepted select me read book when I chose QNX 10 +, there are rules with 10 OS version? There is only 1 OS? Or I have to uncheck the playbook is Marmalade requires two separate playbook and blackberry 10 buildings.

Sorry if my question is confusing, I'm confused myself.

I didn't thing BB10 OS is available for playbook yet, I think that you will need to download 2 separate releases, one for BB10 and one for the playbook.

  • Cannot download BAR file for PlayBook. "Transfer error".

I tried to download my file .bar for playbook for 3 days now, but I keep getting errors. My .bar file is 50 MB in size, I don't know if the size is causing this problem. I tried several browsers: IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

What happens when the upload 100% or I get an error message saying "Transfer error has occurred" or the progress bar jump down to 1% and stays there until the site times out and I have to log in again.

I tried both my click "Add filebundle".bar file buttons 'Import Batch files. "

I tried to download my app as a .bar file and also compress the .bar in a zip file. . Bar or .zip worked using "Import Batch files" or "add a filebundle.

I know that my .bar file is not damaged and that it is signed correctly because I am able to deploy in the PlayBook and it works perfectly.

If I use Firefox, I always get the "transfer error occurred" error and when I use IE bar always jumps to 1% of the increase and the Web site times out.

Has anyone of another been able to download a file of 50 MB ot more high? I see the game to PlayBook that are big more than 300 MB, so I guess that 50 MB is OK.

Is anyone else able to download a file to all .bar the anysize?

    Thanks in advance

Ok. I put in a ticket and received a response from Blackberry that there is currently a problem with the download of large files.

If the person supported offered Blackberry download my file for me and my game is finally approved and live on the PlayBook. Thanks to all for your responses.

Blackberry support said they are working on fixing it so if someone runs into a problem of downloading a large file (don't know the size limits, my record was 50 MB) don't forget to put in a support ticket, so you don't waste a lot of time

  • Scale of BB! 0 app for Playbook

Hi all, in excess of what can be described as sillyness, I created a game in webworks for my z10. I used fixed assets to the z10 resolution. now, I decided to port for playbook and obviously changing resolution is a bit problematic. is there a way I can use a tag of viewport to simply reduce the demand to adapt to the playbook? or do I have to do a lot of recoding and change the sizes of the assets?

    Please notify.

    Thank you once again,

I did some functions rather fancy mathematics and just placed a large div behind the screen with a black background color and voila it worked.

Thank you for your help. This issue is now closed

  • Documentation for config.xml for playbook

    Hey RIM,.

When you're you going to get out of the documentation for the file config.xml... all that right with a graphical interface for us in the web plugin eclipse...

I don't expect the same for the playbook, but really I don't know what should be the content of this file... No documentation would be not good (or if someone could tell me that would be great).

Right now, I'm just coding in the dark... I do a little better comments about what I think should be allowed in the XML (such as adding other areas...)

    EC

Here's the documentation you request: technical - grade Configuration Document .

This document is in the section BlackBerry WebWorks Developer Guides Web site.

Note: there is at least an inconsistency with the supported elements.  The element ' rim: transitionEffect "is not supported by the SDK WebWorks for PlayBook (but is for the Smartphone SDK).  I have a pending request with our documentation team to provide details on the other gap analysis.

  • Incompatible game for Windows 8 (Minecraft)

Minecraft is a block developed by Microsoft Studios game
I played on Windows 7 and decided to move to Windows 8, and it gives the following error:
    BAD VIDEO CARD DRIVERS
This game is my favorite and it seems that Windows 8 is not compatible with my video card.
Do not think that they could release an update for this? Or can not?

    Hi Matheus,

Minecraft works on Windows 8 (see for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXYN2OtQJtY where they mention - almost at the end - the potential update your video card driver) and has even been certified.

One of my sons had the same error (BAD DRIVERS of VIDEO CARD) under Windows 7. After updating the video card driver, he was able to play Minecraft...

Last but not least: Windows 7 drivers usually work under Windows 8 so much worse of cases you can install your Windows 7 video card driver to solve your problem.

    Hope this helps

  • Game for the Satellite L300-1BW.

    Hey!

Has never really been a PC Gamer if im this announcement at the request of a former veteran to help me. I've already lost nearly £ 30 tent of the game that I thought would go on my laptop, but unfortunately none did.

Can anyone suggest me some good FPS games that would go well on my laptop.

I would be grateful thanks anyhelp.

    Hello

    That s very simply.
Every game needs certain hardware and software requirements.
Just check the requirements that are associated with a game that is interesting for you and compare it with the specifications of laptop computers.

I can't recommend games for laptop because I've got and use the PS3 for games ;)

  • Satego X 200 - 21u + Win7: freeze all playing a game for about 20 seconds

    Hello

installed win7 a few weeks ago and I need help.

as long as I have used default displays the drivers of toshiba (~ 1 year) windows7 tends to freeze while playing a game for about 20 seconds, and everything goes normal again.

After searching the internal pool, I discovered that most recent nvidia driver could solve this problem, so I downloaded the latest drivers for your laptop from there. now windows freezes over, but rather a huge amount of pixels displayed for fractions of seconds. could someone help me? is it possible that toshiba will bring display drivers compatible win7?

What are the changes accurate toshiba brings to their drivers? I cannot repeat this manual?

    * edit *.

SRY for the bad language :).

using the version of 32-bit win7

    Hi mate,

The point is that you should only use the Toshiba display drivers directly because are pre-tested on the on the laptop. Other drivers don't have overheating protection, which means that you can display errors and damage to the graphics card. So I advise to use Toshiba display drivers.

I don t know the difference between display drivers, you should ask this Toshiba directly and not here in the forum of the user.

Maybe there is another solution for your problem like cleaning your laptop with a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans.
