Device Manager still shows my drive with a flag and error 10 (driver may not load) are 2 separate issues but I have listed both, because they may be related, I want to understand the thumbdrive, firstly because it is a new problem, and I use my allot USB drives to save all my important files. The problem with the drive, I tried all the suggestions so far, if someone has any ideas to help I would be very grateful

  The CD/DVD software burning should be uninstalled to uninstall or change a program and not Device Manager.

  To my knowledge a registry problem was detected. This can occur when more than one service is defined for a device, if there is a failure at the opening of the service registry entry, or if the driver name cannot be obtained from the service registry entry.

  As far as I know Microsoft provides these options of solution:

  Click on uninstall and click Scan for hardware changes to load a usable driver.
  Restart the computer using safe mode, and then select last good known Configuration. This cancels the last successful configuration of the registry.

  In addition, you can try to remove the Upperfilters and the LowersFilters of this registry entry:
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4 D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

  What model laptop do you have?

  Try to remove the CD/DVD filters in the registry.
  When the associated CD/DVD (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), the software is installed, they install filters in the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.

  2) navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

  (4) restart.
