Devices and printers empty

Divided between the thread: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/devices-and-printers-blank/1447d0c6-63f7-4638-88af-e977fae97ff5?page=3&tm=1405068851246

I had exactly the same problem. All my printers and devices work as expected, but no icons appear under devices and printers.

I use Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I followed the advice on a previous page to simply run the tool 'Fix It '.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2793718/en-us

I ran the "Light version" of tool Fix. It restart my computer now and all is good!

When I opened the window devices and printers, all my printers are now appear.

Thanks for the help

Kathy

I just tried this and this FIX works...

Click the Start button, type "services" in the search programs and files. This will display a list in the menu, select Services. "This should open a list of local services on your system..., Find ' Bluetooth Service" and make sure that it has begun, click right and put on 'automatic' (mine was already fixed), select 'Bluetooth Support Service' and start, set to automatic (mine was set to manual).

Really weird. Joel, can you please explain.

  • Devices and Printers dialog box empty

When I opened my "Devices and printers" dialog box, it is empty; nothing shows, and registration of the order of the day says "0 items.

Printers appeared in the devices dialog box and printers and devices box earlier, but now are gone from the dialog box.  However, they are still in the system, everything seems to work.  The problem of trying to define the preferences for the devices and printers, because they cannot be seen or accessed.

Anyone got ideas on how get the devices and printers will appear again?

Devices and printers will show a device when you set up multiple printers for the same device.   There is a passage outwards the menu to access all the other printers on the device.    Use teams of spooler UI, printmanagement.msc to display all local printers on Pro and Ultimate.

The old printers folder can be launched if you run Home versions.

Open a command prompt and paste this in.

  • Devices and printers is empty

    Windows 7 Edition Home Premium.

I read all the advice given previously, but still do not see anything in devices and printers.

Things arise in Mode safe mode but not in cleaning Mode.

Bluetooth and printer spool show as automatic.

I tried scannow but who told me only it were corrupt and referred me to the CBS logs that I can not open, not even the command prompt - I enter the string as shown on https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/928228/en-us and nothing happens, not even an error msg.

I did a check of memory, I've updated the USB driver which was presented as a problem in safe mode and nothing has worked.

  • All shot, "devices and printers" is empty

My computer has been updated from Windows XP to Windows 7 a month ago and is working fine.  I have a Brother printer connected to the computer with the cable.  Today, I added another printer that is wireless; I have printed successfully on this printer.  The problem: all of a sudden I can print is no longer my computer to brother, which is the main I want to use, and which I have been using all along.  When I installed the wireless printer, he became defined as the default value, so I thought that maybe it would be useful that I've changed the brother to the default - it's the one I use most often.  However, when I went to "Devices and printers", he appeared as foul, and I have so no way to change the default, as far as I can tell.

I skimmed the discussion, and it seems that a lot of people have this problem of "Devices and printers" being emply - but I have not found proof of a solution that helps!  I think that there is a kind of simple solution to this point - it clearly, in my case, has something to do with the addition of another printer.  I tried the simple solution to restart the computer and the printer - no change.  I also tried to reinstall the brother driving system.

If anyone has solutions they can offer in a simple language, I appreciate it!  I am quite advanced in my computer knowledge.

It looks like something has become corrupted when the wireless printer has been installed.

I would restore the system to a restore point before installing the wireless.

  • Windows folder instead of the Officejet 6500 icon icon has more E710n in devices and printers

Can someone help me get the OfficeJet 6500 has more e710n printer to display correctly in devices and Printers icon?

I have recently reinstalled Windows 8.1.  However, when I installed my printer, the printer icon in devices and printers, I get a generic Windows yellow folder icon.  The Fax icon is OK, just the printer icon is wrong.

If I double click the icon, I get a blank page with a message near the top of the page saying: 'information updates are available on your device.  Click here to download or learn more. "If I click on the notice, a drop down menu appears with 'Download update of information' or 'Learn' more.  If I choose Update downloaded information, a new printer window appears which is often empty except for a message in the center of the window that says "no task is available on this page" to learn the most fair option gives me info on the update of drivers.

The icon of the printer in the start menu is fine.

I used HP Print and Scan Doctor uninstall and reinstall my printer, but it did not help.  The program finds a problem with the printer driver and the fixed, but that has not changed the icon either.

I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit fully up to date and used the full version of the HP Installer for the printer (not the basic version) and HP Print and Scan v4.6 doctor.

When I click on the Start button, then click on devices and printers a blank window opens and a slo-o-o-seniors green progress bar makes its way across the top of the window. This can happen if some services (spooler, bluetooth etc) are not started correctly. See this article for detailed troubleshooting steps. One of the measures listed should help.

  • OfficeJet 5746: Why my printer does not record twice in devices and printers (direction)?

My HP Officejet 5743 presents itself as the default printer.  Also the appearance is HP649F6A (series HP Officejet 5740).  Why it appears twice with different BOMs?  Will it affect anything if I remove it?

    Hi @Metal1,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support with your request.

I understand that you use a HP Officejet 5743 e-all-in-one printer with a Windows 10 PC and printer appears twice in the file devices and printers in Windows, with slightly different names. I would like to help with that.

I was looking into this and found that there is a solution, concerning Direct eventually picked up by your PC if directly on wireless wireless signal the printer is 'On '.  Try the post with the answer of the @vthapa by clicking here.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.

  • Photosmart HP 7520: 2 printers appear on devices and printers

I'm not technical so need help to understand why when I look in the control panel under devices and printers 2 printers appear.  We're the printer default HP Photosmart 7520 series (network) and the other is HP96DC72 (Hp Photosmart 7520 series).  I've included a snapshort of the properties of the two printers appears under devices and printers.  I combined 3 pictures into one.  Point 1: shows the properties under the default printer with the menu drop down list 2 printers, reason why two of them?  Point 2: shows the properties for the second (HP96DC72) indicating that it is a printer web services.  Point 3: displays the properties of the default printer.

Can someone explain what the hell this is all about?  I have a printer, but defined it in my router as a printer for printing, although I him have not used for this purpose again.

    Any comments will be appreciated.

    Hello

Those are two logical printers, and you can use both:

    1. the first condition is connected to your WiFi network normally.

    2. the other is directly connected, you can print even when your network down.

    Kind regards.

Webcam is displayed in devices and printers, but can not get turned on?

    Hello

    ·         What operating system do you use?

    ·         You're using a built-in or external webcam?

    ·         What is the brand and model of the webcam?

    ·         Were there recent changes made on the computer before the show?

    Method 1:

I suggest you to check in Device Manager if you can detect the webcam. See the link below to open the Device Manager in windows 7:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-Device-Manager

    Method 2:

Try to update the drivers for the webcam from the manufacturing site and check if it works:
