Dial up modem
I have a Pavillion laptop 113TU g6. I have a wireless internet reception shit and my telephone exchange can support ADSL, looking to dial up a backup. (Yes, I live in bedrock).
Can someone tell me if my computer has a built in modem dial-up, or how do you know?
Thanks, perplexed user.
Hi @Widgetinthewind ,
Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion Notebook g6 and wanted to know about a dial-up modem. This unit has capabilities wireless and Ethernet only, sorry.
But you can buy an external Dial - up 56 K * USB. If you Google what it will show you different devices that connect USB.
Thank you.

Windows could not detect a dial-up modem
Win 7 trying to get the dial modem to work. When you try to set up a connection from the network and sharing Center numbering, I have 'Windows could not detect a dial-up modem.
Modem is properly installed in the Device Manager and power light is on. I know that the modem works because I tested it on a backup system.
My research of troubleshooting led me to check Remote Access Connection Manager, which does not start and causes error 1068.
Hello
I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.
Method 1:
Disable the security/firewall software and check if it helps.
Disable security software: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Disable-antivirus-software
Warning: If you need to temporarily disable the security software, you should reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Enable or disable the Windows Firewall:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
Note: Please make sure that you enable the antivirus software after the test to keep your computer protected.Method 2:
Try to activate the Remote Access Connection Manager dependency services and check if it helps.
Follow the steps to enable the Remote Access Connection Manager dependency services:
a. Click Start, type services.msc in the search box and press ENTER.
(b) in the services window search for addiction services:
Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol Services
Telephony
Internet connection sharing
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Routing and remote access
c. right click each service one by one and start the services.
d. make sure that the problem is solved.

Thanks for any help ;-)
Hi LaVidalerie,
Set up a dial-up internet access, you need an external as modem [THIS | http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zoom-56k-V-92-External-Modem/dp/B00294EQ5U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1302532267&sr=8-1] a. You can connect to your computer via the USB port and then you can plug the phone cable.
Regarding the WIFI connection: I put t know what you mean with MacD's, but you should ask the local system administrator how to set up the WLAN connection and what settings are needed.

Lost my offices of broadband (DSL) for Intel Dial-up modem. Microsft or Dell?
Installed Samsung laptop computer to my service (DSL) wired according to the instructions it uses Intel. My two Dell computers use modems to broadband in the CP. They went to Intel and lost my broadband. Went through the ISP (At & t) and IP (aol). They said it wasn't their problem. Talking with Microsoft and Dell to fix this. No router, using a single connection to my DSL modem and swap Ernet cable that CP would use. Remove the portable system will heal it because I am convinced that this has started my problem. Suggestions for solving this predicumet would be appreciated.
The other post:

DIAL-UP Modem is not working properly in the Satellite A200 - 1 GB
My A200 - 1 GB modem does not work correctly. It tries to connect, but at last he said computer remote does not respond. As I noticed it has a modem 56kpbs of "I agree."
It is shown as Toshiba Software Modem.I tried so many times it does not work properly. I tried changing the COM ports assigned to several other ports like COM1, COM10 COM, COM 4 ext... same thing happens.
When I diagnose the modem via the properties of the modem without issues considered.
Even when I'm component via the modem to a telephone line (I mean as a call) it works fine. I mean that he can call on a mobile phone or phone of the Earth. But the same phone line works fine with my desktop modem as same as another modem of HP laptop.
It seems that there is a fault on my modem 56 k.
I tried even uninstall and reinstall, but the issue still exists. Can someone help me in this case?
Please check this thread:

I installed a 56 K PCI Faxmodem and am on dial-up, it says com12 that my dial-up service says it must be a com 3 How can I change it?
Hello
Unless you use a communication software that was provided by the service to access remotely and has been designed to work specifically with COM3 it shjould not matter.
The number of COM is selected by the operating system according to availability, it could be that COM3 is already active. Boot into the BIOS and check if COM3 is affected.

I try to install ver AOL 9.5 on my neighbors computer and get the error. I looked in services, and when I try to change some of these areas are greyed out. They (Neighbors) have problems with AOL before. I try to type in the info for AOL, telephone # s and it just keeps going in a loop to request the same information. I'm not familiar with Vista, I used XP and now 7. I tried to change the service remote access, but in vain.
Go to start / Control Panel / administrative Tools / Services and scroll to REmppte Access Auto Connection Manager and Remote Access Connection Manager. In both cases, click on them and set it to automatic, and then start the program. Then restart. See if you can now connect or if the error message changes. Be absolutely certain that the remote access settings are correct.
Go to start / Control Panel / Network and sharing center / network and sharing Center / Firewall / Windows Firewall / change settings / Exceotibs / and make sure anyting about AOL and the remote access Services is checked. I don't think that's the problem - but it does not hurt to check and make sure.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!
