Is it possible to connect my Mac mini to my Mac Pro laptop using the memory on my mac mini for installing software Ableton as I don't have 3 GB available on my Mac Pro.

I want to download Ableton software, but it requires 3 GB of free memory that I have available on my MacPro laptop not because most of it is used for my library of music because I'm a DJ.

I'm not sure how I can do it or not at all.

    Thank you very much.

    1. a Mac Pro is not a laptop. Its a big desktop computer.  You probably have a MacBook Pro, which is a laptop.

    2. No, you cannot share the memory (live RAM) or storage (disk space, which is not memory) like that between computers.

However, it is very very bad practice to have so little storage space available for your computer.   If you have less than 3 GB, you should seriously consider an external drive. and unload some files on the outside. Its best not to leave your hard drive to go below 10 GB of free space because it can seriously affect your computer's performance.

    Hi all

Can I connect my MacBook Air to my Mac Mini so that I can use the display of the Mac Mini?

The Mac Mini is the end of 2014 with 2 ports thunderbolt model and is connected to a mini display port monitor.

I'm just fed up of having to pull on the cable of the Mac Mini to connect the MacBook Air.

    Any ideas? Suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Ethernet port on the question of mac mini 2014?

Hello I recently returned from a trip, I was away for about an hour and when I got home I turned on my mac mini and BAM without ethernet connection, Ive went through the router and the settings constantly, other computers in the House connect to ethernet, I can connect to wifi with the Mini. When I plug it in ethernet, there is no anything, except for the light on the router on that its plugged in < < < < < < Ive checked the port for obstructions. everything seems peachy from outside, no indication in this regard, Ive reset the router, reset it to factory default, done everything I could think of, checked the DNS settings, I can choose any connection until the router without wifi however. Pls help.. I don't like horrible wifi download features, and I pay a good price for a 100 mb a second connection, which I can only achieve by WAN/LAN

  • Mac Mini (2014) blurred or central off-screen

    Hello

I'm having a very difficult time for my Mac Mini to 2014 appears correctly on both a small Magnavox (2008) HDTV (that I'm trying to 'reuse' for use with the Mac Mini) and my 46 '' Sharp Aquos. When I use a HDMI cable to HDMI (sold by Apple) the text is extremely blurry. After some research on Google and read many articles, I decided to concede and buy everything just a crush on VGA cable on Amazon. The problem with the crush to USB is that it works in 50% of the time without problem, but the other 50% of the time, I wake up the Mac and the screen remains black, or the desktop 2 "to the right and down (leaving a strip 2" black on the left and the top of the screen). The problem is solved by unplugging the shape of love at first sight on the back of the Mac and reseating the cable (with Sharp TVs both Magnavox).

I prefer not to spend money on a new monitor if possible. I have friends and family who use TVs as displays for their mini Mac or other Mac that do not have the problem. I tried to turn the sharpness all down on broadcasters suggested in the number of threads without result (using the HDMI cable).

This post seems useful (and I found his humorous commentary on Apple), but a little complicated, and that's a MacBook Pro to monitor Dell.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. My preference would be to use the HDMI cable if possible.

    Thank you!

VGA is a horrible connector often must set the position on the screen itself because the computer it is analog have no idea

DVI - i (d) is much better in this respect make you you set the native resolution display it is or it will be always blurred (unless you define in a resolution of modulo 2 as 800_600-> 1600_1200 and visa versa)

TD; Dr. If hdmi is blurry that you use the wrong resolution, so vga is off center so it's the pet peeve of the vga and there is no real cure apart from setting in the view menu / distance

  • Need to buy a Mac mini (2014) AC (2 pins), urgently supply cable.

Where can I get one? They are not on the Apple store website at all. I called Maplin and PC World (I'm in the United Kingdom), they do not their stock. In fact, I was told that I have to make an appt on an Apple Store to get one. I really hope that's not true that I do not drive and my nearest Apple Store is more than 70 miles away. I lost my cable and need to get on the mac mini really soon to get important work done. Can anyone help?

It's a power cable that looks a bit like a coordinator of the kettle, 2 pins with ideally a UK plug. I am located in the East of Kent.

The current and for the last years the mini computers Mac have used a type of power connector officially called a C7 but more commonly called an "eight". It is a completely standard cable and is not special to Apple or Mac mini.

    See http://www.amazon.co.uk/White-Figure-Mains-Power-2-5Amp/dp/B00DT4LRQK/

While that the foregoing would be Amazon VPC's most of the electrical stores will sell this type of cable including Maplin.

    See http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/2m-power-lead-with-figure-of-8-connector-white-n46da

Note: I chose the Amazon above an example because it's the white color of the an original Apple provided with the Mac mini. Most stores will probably only have black, but of course, that work just as well.

  • Issue of Mac Mini 2014 SSD

I'm not too familiar with the configuration of current storage of the Mac Mini. If the reader of the merger is not a true merger but combines a PCIe m2 with a HARD drive. However, I would like to know if buy you one that comes with a PCIe SSD out of the factory, will there still be a SATA port to add a spare hard drive?

Yes, the logic board of 2014 has two connections. One for the PCIe and the other for a 2.5 "HDD or SSD.

    See > https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Mac_Mini_Late_2014

If I had to shine up to a 2014, I'd go with the Fusion model.

    Why, because

    1. the only model of HARD drive won't have a PCIe cable and support.

    2. the single PCIe model won't have a SATA cable, and maybe not a disc tray.

  • Did someone met with trouble with gel CC first 2014.2 when you try to import? No window opens again.

What he says in the subject really

Sometimes, it works as it is supposed, sometimes it just freezes, and when you click on the window of the program I hear a winows: 'PLING', not the error, just the sound signal.

I have seen this time, but during the process of exporting rather than importing.  PP called a window of dialogue Windows, but for some reason Windows is not open this window, and PP will not let you do anything until this window is closed.  But since its opening ever, you cannot close it.  The only thing you can do is to close PP by using the Task Manager and lose all the work that has not been saved.

I reinstalled Windows recently, and it has not happened since.

  • Is anyone aware of the use of STAAD.pro on mac?

I want to use a software called staad.pro on my mac. Did someone use and how can I make it work on mac?

If I have to install windows, it slow down my system and drain the battery faster?

Check with the producers of the program as to whether or not they can a Mac version.

If they do not have a Mac version only a Windows version, you need to install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant or a virtual machine, Parallels, Fusion or VirtualBox. Windows Boot Camp works as well as Windows on a Windows PC. It will be slower because it uses all the resources of your system. If you install Windows using a VM it will run more slowly because of your system resources will be shared between OSX and Windows.

  • Mail of the Mac Mini, iMac with the migration wizard

I have a mac mini (2014 - El Capitan) that I have used for some time now and I have many mailboxes (30 +) with many stored messages (100s maybe 1000s).

I recently picked up a 2011 27 iMac which is running OS X Sierra Final Release Candidate due to vision problems.

Both units are working well but I would like to transfer my boxes to the letters, messages, and the account settings from the Mac Mini to the iMac using Migration Assistant to take advantage of the larger screen.

Am I able to select only the data for e-mail (boxes letters, messages and settings) to transfer somewhere in the Migration Wizard interface or will it just to start the transfer of all?

I use iCloud for note, calendars and contacts, but prefer not to use for e-mail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    WN

The simplest option would be to use Time Machine to restore your data.

    Other Options:

You can export the folders you want to transfer the mini using export of Mail under mailbox function in the Menu bar > export a mailbox... Drag to the folder on the desktop on the new iMac and import in Mail. File > import boxes mailbox...

You can also use a third-party application, Emailchemy to export your Mail on the mini and pull only the folders you want and import. If you have many files, it would be a faster option.

    http://www.weirdkid.com/products/emailchemy/

Otherwise, you could drag on the whole Mail > V3 folder let Sierra update data. This assumes that you have already started using Mail to Sierra.

You don't have to use iCloud email to use Apple Mail. I strongly suggest that you use IMAP to service what ever you choose to use.  Comcast, Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, Hotmail (other)

  • With the help of Mac Mini like laptop?

    Hi guys,.

Can I use a Mac Mini as a laptop? I mean go to work every day and carry it in my bag, and then connect to a screen. What I mean if a Mac Mini is of solid construction, built to withstand move it every day. The life of a portable device, haha.

I just got a Mac Mini 2014, 1.4, 1 Tb Fusion Drive. Moreover, it's my first time with the merger in car. I don't know if they are not intended to transport around or as solid as any player.

    Any ideas?

    See you soon,.

Carry a Mac Mini is really not unlike a laptop computer with regards to damage. Don't resist not to serious abuse, a rotating hard disk is probably the weakest regarding damage due to jostling normal.

  • Mac Mini 4K Ultra HD Display Support - 10.10.3

    Hello

The current Mac Mini is now 4K ultra HD displays 60 Hz by Thunderbolt? I know that she has no use for but he has done some suggestion with the 10.10.3 software update now. I'm looking to connect it to the monitor Philips BDM435OUC/75 (3840 x 2160) which has a mini port.

Thanks in advance for your help. There appears to be some contradictory information.

    Apple says only 4K@30Hz.

Uses here reported that they got only 30 Hz connected via the Thunderbolt and HDMI port

Yosemite 10.10.3 allows now Mac Mini 2014 to disk 4 K OHS displays at 60z?
