Difference of motherboard Satellite P10

Hello, can someone tell me what is the difference between motherboards K000010230 and K000010240 part number please?

Well cordially

Both seems to be designed for the Satellite P10/P15 series

I have goggled and discovered that the K000010230 is a motherboard with CHIP 865PE and as far as I know, it can be used with the P4 CPU.

That s all I know two mobos

    Hello

I think that you need the same motherboard that is already integrated into the Satellite P10. ;)

I put t know the exactly part number, here it s just a forum from user to user and you it should ask an authorized service provider. They can order all the original Toshiba parts and if you call them, they will tell you the part number for the new motherboard, I think.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite P10 - sometimes it will not be running

    Hello

I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite P10 (bought in 2004).
Sometimes it will not be running (no air conditioning, no battery) and sometimes the "Shut down" - the dialogue appears as if I had pressed the power button (really, I have not). Then, he died instantly, and I can't turn it on. Rarely turns without touching the power button a few minutes later.

First, I assumed that the reason was the envelope, but recently the same problem appears despite the case open.

Finally, I think that the problem is caused by a defective power controller chip. So, I read that I could at least try it deflexing by a hairdryer. This is why I would like to know where the power controller chip is located on the motherboard and how do I recognize it.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

[If your notebook won power t on sometimes you check out this article: what steps must be followed if your Toshiba laptop does not start? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=21]

But I think that no one here can tell you where the power controller is replaced and if you can fix it yourself or not. Here he s only one user to user forum and if you have these technical questions should ask a technician for laptop (authorized service provider) for help. Guys have access to all the databases of Toshiba and can order spare parts Toshiba and it would be no problem for the guys to repair the device for you. ;)

  • ATI Radeon Mobility Core/memory clock speeds - Satellite P10 873

I have a portable Satellite P10 873 using 64 MB Radeon 9700 Mobility GPU, the base clock is set at 400 and 200 memory. The chip must be run to 450/260 so if anyone from Toshiba is reading this can you tell me if the cooling of the Gpu is sufficient for these speeds (judging by the traces of burning on my thighs could well be unlikely)?

Is also the 64 MB expandable to 128 MB of VRAM?

    Hi Carmel

First of all the graphics card is a small chip that attaches to the motherboard.
The graphics card has no own cooling system. Only the CPU has a cooling fan.

Toshiba recommends to use the graphic driver Toshiba because the drivers are changed and support an overheating protection. In this case the graphics driver controls the heat produced by the graphics card.
In this case, it s undesirable to overclock the graphics card. If you want to overclock something so do it at your own RISK

  • Satellite P10-792/833: what is the chipset? IMPORTANT!

    Hello everyone,
In order to successfully install Windows 2000 on a Toshiba Satellite P10 792, I need to know which is the chipset of the motherboard.

It is impossible to find information about it on the Web, and Toshiba is VERY inefficent: is it possible that Toshiba sells laptop without specifying the specifications?

Please answer me what chipset is installed in the notebook; IT IS NOT AN INTEL CHIPSET!

    Hi dieresi,.

I found some technical characteristics of your SAtellite P10 792. Visit this link:

  • USB 160GB HDD - Satellite P10-304 doesn't see 127.9 GB

Can someone help please, I bought a new 160 GB Seagate Momentus HDD.

I put in a USB enclosure and connected, but when I go to Paragon Disk Copy he can see a disc unformatted 127.9 GB.

If I right click on 'My Computer' and use 'Manage', it says I have a unknown 128 GB drive connected.

I updated my BIOS to the latest available from Toshiba (2, 00 - WIN) dated 27/04/06 (on the Toshiba site "last updated on 27/04/06"). However, in the information system, he says: "BIOS Version/Date TOSHIBA V2.00, 28/12/2004", correct version but date looks old? on the site Web of Toshiba the last BIOS (V1.60) is listed as: last modification 15/12/05?

Does anyone know if the Bios allows more than 128 GB of disks?

If the answer is no, what are my options? If I go ahead and copy the disk it will work as usual, but as a 128 MB drive? Later if a new Bios is published, allowing disks of large capacity will be the full space available or should I take a disc image, reformat the hard disk and then copy the image (only have a record of this great would mean that I have to use another PC to achieve this).

Its a real pain, ideas or thoughts?

    Many thanks Tony

    Laptop: P10-304 running XP Home.

    Hello

I m not 100% sure if it has something to do with the BIOS.
I think that it s simply a matter of calculation.
HDD dealers calculate with 1000 and they must calculate with 1024. But the difference is still to oversized

Please also check the size of the HARD drive in the other sense. After the fixing of the external HARD drive, you could right click on the HARD drive and check the properties.

    BIOS:
Y, please read the more info section. You'll find info that the 1.60 BIOS update is only for the satellite P10 series models that contain "PSP13E" or "PSP16E" in the model number and version 2.0 of the BIOS update is only for the satellite P10 series models that contain "PSP10E" in the model number.

  • Satellite P10 - start/stop down do not work

I hope someone can help me. My Satellite P10 problems start and stop.

When it starts, it goes to a black screen with white wording, asking if I want to start windows normally or in SafeMode etc - he doesn't let me start normally, so I choose the option "last good start of files" (or similar wording).

The pc then door on commissioning. I did a system restore, but it made no difference. Once it is started, it's a lottery if she going to be ok, or if he's going to crash.

Stopping down, I have to press the off button, there is no other way it will stop.

I ran avg, spybot, adaware lavasoft, xsoftspy, registry mechanic, spywareblaster etc but it doesn't seem to be something "wrong".

The only thing I installed recently is the new avg 7.5 and legacy family tree software - I downloaded both programs on the sites of manufacturers. AVG is free, but I just could have visited a site of crack for the Legacy code :)

I would really appreciate it if someone is nice to give me some advice :)

You didn't describe what happens exactly when you want to turn off but I imagine some don t want to be off process and maybe somehow, blocks, unity. When you force the unit turns off after that put on it is nothing unusual that start menu occurs.

In your problem, the only problem is the unit of decommissioning, correctly of course. I recommend you to check all running processes before you turn the power off and try to identify some of them. You can check what happens if you change some of them manually from the Task Manager.

  • Satellite P10 - laptop off suddenly during application

My Satellite P10 has a problem for about 1 month. In many applications (for example games) he died suddenly, without message or similar warning.

Is it possible, that it's getting hot?
It worked without any problems for over a year half!

Could it, that it is only some dirt in the ventilation? And then I clean it myself without any problems?

If I had a PC I just opened and clean. But this is my first laptop and I don't have too much experience with the intereor of it.

    Hello

I normally clean any dust from my A30 on a weekly basis, by blowing through the outlets on the back of the notebook, or using a vacuium domestic cleaner of the hose to the fan intake grills oin the bottom of the unit. This avoids having to remove the heatsink from the CPU that might invalidate your warranty.

I also make sure that the notebook is never directly placed on the carpet or pillows or other soft surfaces because it either block the air inlets or provide a source ready of dust and debris that will be sucked into the unit.

It is a setting in Device Manager to allow cooling for 'maximum performance' or 'Noise Minimum'. The effect of the first is to allow the CPU to run at maximum speed (which may involve fans to their maximum, while the latter will cause the CPU to slow down when it gets too hot, allowing fans to run much more slowly. I think that the post of 'Heaven', associated with a chip fauly on the motherboard that was the fans run continuously.

  • Satellite P10 switch randomly between battery and AC

I have a satellite P10 who had some problems of strange power for about a year now.

My laptop switch to the power of the battery even when it is plugged. I will then either use the computer until the battery runs out and turned it off or Hibernate in until the battery may charge.

I thought that I had fixed by downloading and installing a new Bios from the toshiba site, which seemed to work for a while, but now it the problem seems to have returned.

I also bought a new battery and the bar of power, thinking that was the problem... but it does not solve the problem.

Someone else out there with similar problems, or a method to solve this?
    any thoughts would be great.

    Hi man,

I had similar problems with my machine, so you can check some things:

-When the CA is connected, then move him soft in all directions, there are maybe a few micro cracks on the AC connector.
-try to boot your machine without the battery, your motherboard charging system is may be defective
-Discover an another AC adapter, maybe the CA is defective

If you encounter some strange phenomena as power cuts or no charge while you perform this action above, then you have definitely a hardware problem and you will need to contact your local dealer or the service partner for the other instance.

So I had to do, and it's a faulty motherboard.

Hope I could give you some ideas.

    Welcome them

  • What are the cards Wi - Fi are compatible with the Satellite P10-304?

    Hello

Please can someone tell me what mini-pci Wifi cards are compatible with the laptop Satellite P10-304?

I tried a broadcom 4318 with no look.
It installs the material as seen in the Device Manager, but can not find all the networks (think there is a conflict with the motherboard)

Tried an AW-GM100 Azure that has a conflict as soon as the computer message cell phone messages.

    As in advance

    Mark

    Hello!

Theoretically, most of the WiFi cards should work, but the best way would be if you take a WiFi card that was delivered with a computer laptop Satellite P10.

I put t know what cards shipped with this laptop, but I have a little search here in the forum and I have created a thread that might be interesting for you:

  • Replacing a graphics card on Satellite P10

I have a Satellite P10 554 for more than 2.5 years (warranty expired). But now the display start to Flash (sometimes some horizontal strips as refreshing disorders, sometimes turns completely black,...).

Meanwhile, the laptop is frozen until the view retrieves. After flashing several times, the screen can not recover more and sometimes restart the laptop (with sometimes after a blue screen of death). If I'm lucky so far, WXP tells me that an error related with the NVIDIA driver and switch to 800 x 600 resolution asking me to restart.
This usually happens sometime after Windows XP starts, usually at the age of 5 minutes. I did not notice any software related issue and he persisted after full format and reinstall Windows XP.

In addition, the most annoying part is that when I reboot after that, the screen is still bad for the Welcome startup screen (some horizontal strips down because it was a problem refreshing). To solve the problem, I let the laptop for at least 15 minutes. When I restart 'cold', the problem is repeated after some time.

My guess is that the graphics card is broken. My laptop is installed with a 64 MB NVIDIA FX Go5600. I updated all the drivers. The same problem also appears even if I use an external monitor or TV.

My question is if I can replace the graphics card. In the specifications of the laptop indicating that the graphics card uses a port AGP 8 x. Pourrais then replace the problematic graphics card?

    Thank you

UH... maybe the question was too complicated?

Is there a way that I replace a damaged nVidia FX Go5600 64 MB in a Toshiba P10-554?

I guess that it is integrated into the motherboard, but it does not check for myself.

    Thank you, people

  • Satellite P10-304 power until now

    Hello

Got the machine Satellite P10-304, which won't turn on after the 2nd attempt. What happened: -.

Machine power of cold - booted Windows XP ok start. After 5-10 minutes, the machine screen is dimmed (resembles backlight is gone) and couldn't turn off the machine by pressing button, so had to remove the battery to kill machine power.

Now machine won't turn on (same battery fully charged), when I pressed the power button, I get a light flashed orange once inside the circle of blue light around power button / stop.
Leave the machine shut down for about an hour and machine started in the BIOS screen, then after 3 minutes the screen is dimmed. Machine unbootable. Checked AC adapter and get 19.3Volts and 6.1Amp for power unit ok.

Looks like the motherboard plays up and needs to be replaced? Dose - that someone has encountered this problem before?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

    > Sounds like the motherboard plays up and needs to be replaced?
    Yes, it seems so :(

Maybe it s not the motherboard, but another part of the material. But to be honest, you should go to an authorized service provider. Technicians can check the laptop to determine what the problem is exactly.
And here, you can search the nearest ASP:

  • Satellite P10 - problem with grafic card

    Hello

At the start of my Satellite P10 - 554 today, the display shows not sorted pixel color around the screen. The message of the BIOS seems completely normal. After the start in graphic mode, from windows XP, the screen keeps being black.

The hard drive works fine. I checked the display. It works very well.
I guess that the graphics card (geforce go 5600) is damaged. Any chance of getting my phone fixed? Do I need a new mainboard, or is it possible to replace the graphics card? Where can I get the parts needed, used or unused? How the 'spare parts' cost? Better to buy a new laptop?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Steven from Germany, Duisburg.

    Hello

    > Any chance to make my phone fixed? Do I need a new main Board, or is it possible to replace the graphics card? Where can I get the parts needed, used or unused? How the 'spare parts' cost? Better to buy a new laptop?

Are you sure that the graphics card is dead at 100%? This can be checked easily.
You could connect the external monitor to the laptop and could check whether the same appears on the external monitor too. If the same failure would appear on the external monitor then the GPU could be really faulty.

In this case the whole motherboard must be changed and such procedure costs a small fortune, because the motherboard is on expansive parts laptop. You should calculate 300-350 euros

Then maybe a Council of second hand could be an alternative.

    Greetings

  • Can not use the USB ports on my Satellite P10

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P10 3 years computer that has 3 USB ports. None of them works although the power is coming from them than my external mouse upwards but lights does not work. In Device Manager it says that everything is working ok IE all the drivers, etc. I was told that it's probably the motherboard?

Maplins it's a software problem. I tried a PCI card with USB port but they no longer work. The PCI location is fine but as my wireless adapter card works from there ok. I restored the computer 3 times and each time the USB ports do not work.
Any suggestions? I want to add an external mouse drive DVD etc...

    Any help appreciated... Mark

    Hello

Did you use the clean Toshiba Recovery CD to restore the operating system on your laptop or have you installed the operating system from the original Windows CD.
I advise to use the Toshiba Recovery CD because all the driver and patches installed on this CD.

The USB ports provide a current of 500 ma, and it is a standard. If several external devices connected to ports needs more power as 500mA, then it of possible that the laptop does not detect USB devices several.

In Device Manager, you may turn off the power save the unique option to the USB ports.
You can do this in the properties of the USB port

Additional I advise to use a USB hub with external power clean.
These devices are not very expensive and will allow you to connect and use several devices together.

  • Satellite P10 PSP10E shutdown and the light stays on

    Hello

I'm having some problems with my old man (2004) Satellite P10 PSP10E-0SCM7-FR

One day he simply closed (as if power, no BSOD) and the power and the led for WIFI and the CD/DVD button remains lit.

Most of the time I can't activate it under as the power button is still on. (Power button, WIFI, and CD/DVD are on).

I tried to remove the battery and unplug the computer for at least 30mm
I tried to press the Start button for a period of time (one minute) then disconnect everyting (battery and power cord) at least 30 minutes before to turn it back on
I have reinitialzed the computer using history CD provided with the computer
I removed the radiator cleaned as well as the fan and then replace a new thermal grease
    I changed the memory

Yet I still have the same problem, for some reason, the computer simply shutdown and the light stays on. Occasionally, the power light start, and I am able to restart the computer. But I'm unable to understand what makes the computer is shut down, or when that happens, what makes the power light turns off and make it possible to start the computer again.

    No idea what's going on?
The Start button / stop and led market would be an error message?
    If so, what that means?

Any help is very appreciated. Thank you!

    Hello

Usually, books closed due to the high temperature and in this case, the unit must be disassembled and cleaned professionally, but it seems that you already have what I read in your post above.

    Probably its a motherboard problem.
The RAM modules appear to be checked and is not RAM issue.
    So problem mobo is possible
