Different questions about Satellite L855

Dear community of Toshiba...

I bought a Toshiba laptop as for my study Mediadevelopment a year and half ago. I got Toshiba Satellite L855 edition.

When I received my order, I was very happy with it and I knew that I would succeed on this nice unit programming.

After 3 weeks of use, I already had a scratch right next to the camera. And I must admit I really handled the phone with care. I ordered a case of neck and he had with me in a laptop bag. Even when the lid is closed there is small scratches around my laptop and it started to worry about what would happen.

While watching an episode of the game of Thrones. I noticed a red dot... just in the middle of the screen. And I don't want to be arrogant, but I have to say that it's not cool when you already have a failure of pixel using a laptop as about 1 month.

I received an update of a driver of my DVD player tray. And toshiba TEMPRO told me there was a BLUERAY drive in my notebook... but this was not true... Just another point that disappointed me.

I ordered an upgrade for Windows 8... So I was able to develop applications for Windows 8. It's a very nice OS BUT I can't use my brightness buttons yet more... The display goes just in black, and aint there is no way to fix it, but to restart my computer and that is very annoying when you are programming.

The fan on my AMD card also gets really hot while doing nothing. I know how to check if there are a lot of processes running, but it heats up by simple same process (it's even my glass cool soda Cook until temperature hot lol!)

And now also the reason why I ask for your support here, when I close the lid of my laptop. It closes smoothly... There is a crackling sound and the back cover looks like it rises while I close the lid.

Now after all I lost a little hope in my notebook. And I repeat, that I really handled it with care... I don't even dare to walk with her while she is closed in my hand. But those things so much that makes me sad. Just because of I still need to study 3 years more and had to pay a lot of money for this... I'm sad that sooner or later things will just get worse...

I therefore ask you guys, you people don't know what I can do?

Kind regards

PS: Sorry for my English!
Jay

Hi Jay

In general the notebooks are not so sensitive devices so I put t know how all this can happen, I mean with scratches and clicking noise. It is logical that laptop may not always be as good as new.
I handle my books carefully, too, but they are not in perfect condition more.
Cooling fan: try to reduce the activity of fan cooling cooling method to change option.
Control Panel > power options > change the power plan settings > power plan advanced options > Toshiba power Saver saver > cooling method change for optimized battery
This should reduce the activity of fan cooling.

> Then I ask you guys, people you know what I can do?
It is not easy to give you the correct answer to this question. What you can try is to contact Toshiba service and ask for a tip. They should have experience with this, and they are in constant contact with Toshiba, so they should have enough information about the situation.

By the way: several people have reported on this message Tempro. You should not be disappointed on this matter. It is an automatic procedure and such errors may occur.

    Hello

I bought this phone a few months ago and im in big trouble!
First of all, my first problem is that when I tried to activate my mcafee trial he said he had expired even though I only started the laptop! But this problem does not matter anyway as I had more problems.
Finally in any way since occasionally my laptop seems sort of crash and freeze etil will say windows Explorer is not responding so then I have to restart the laptop and then something comes to the top of the windows saying check the "consistency" and she often does! whatever the problem, I do not know and also incase you think its virus or spyware or something like that, is not! because I had Norton 2010 on my laptop, and then deleted norton and tried AVG and still nothing was found. I also did a scan with malwarebytes and nothing was found!

Now, as of today, I got another problem.
I booted up the laptop and it says that windows was not genuine, when it is clearly authentic because it has been purchased by Argos and I even went in System Accessories, and he says it's activated and authentic but I was receiving messages saying that it was not authentic!

Since I've had this laptop I've had problems with him and im starting to think it's bad because I deleted everything out before because the system was not going to go right so I used the data used in the D drive.
Even when I did a clean install it always gives me problems! I think it's a guy from the fault, what can I do?

I brought to Argos and they kept during the night, but nothing happened I could have guessed! and they don't give me a replacement or refund because only they see there is no problem with the laptop when there is clearly because I had problems! Now it is under standard toshiba warrienty so what I have to do?

    Thanks please reply!

    Ryan.

    Hello

To be honest, it is not easy to say what to do in this situation.
When you have several different problems with the laptop, it is always best idea to reinstall the OS and test it with the factory settings. OK you've done, but I don't know how you did that. Maybe you started to install favorite software and all of a sudden he started again and again.

This activation with McAfee is already reported in this forum, but of course, there must be a problem with the connection to the server from McAfee. If this has nothing to do with Toshiba. In my opinion, you must remove McAfee immediately after clean operating system installation. I recommend you to use http://www.free-av.com/
It's free and excellent antivirus that uses less system resources and run extremely stable. I use it for years.

These freezing issues can be the result of many different things and it is not easy to say why this is happening.
    # Enter the BIOS and set it to default settings
    # Try please install new OS by using recovery image.
    # Remove McAfee and install Avira Antivirus
    # Remove Tempro system
    # Use own OS preinstalled for day or two to see if all of these questions will happen again

Let us know if all these issues bad happen.

BTW: what model of laptop do you have exactly?

  • Different questions about Satellite T130

Hi all - firstly, newbie alert. Just signed up. First post. Be nice...

Bought a T130 off eBay. Worked fine at first with the General navigation & stuff.
One day tried to open the Userguide PDF & everything started to go VERY slowly.
Finally, he opened. Smelt a rat. Start Adobe reader on it of own - VERY slow. I think that corrupted drive.

Try to uninstall - this is not okay.
All ice - popup eventaully saying "management console has stopped working" (or similar). Now, I'm worried.

A lot of disk activity - disk is maybe bad, maybe fragemented.
I defrag - it's nice. I have run chkdsk - it is slow, but ends (fixed a few things - probably because I had to power supply without stopping).

At one point, he wouldn't even boot & requires a stop. I think I'm fried, but when I turn it on to start ok... WTF?

I found a few other posts & Google suggesting corruption OS searches, & it looks like the deal for me.

But it is a laptop - I have no Windows 7 install media.
There is no installation of recovery partition (that I can see). So, how to reinstall the OS?

Hope someone can help me here.
My first experience with Toshiba laptops was not nice...

    Thank you
    Steve

    Hello

I think the system is corrupt and the operating system must be installed again. (as suggested by your own).
You didn t get the recovery disks because there was an option that allows you to create a clean recovery disk!
Try to start the new laptop and check if the Toshiba recovery disc creator is installed and that you would be able to create a recovery disk.

If this is not possible, then you will need to order a drive recovery right here:

  • Questions about Satellite P10 554

    Hello

I have 2 questions about my P10-554. I read on this forum but can't find anything that helps out me.

    First of all:
When I try to turn the unit off after working, using even the closing of xp function or the power button, windows normally quit, but when it needs to turn off just reboot again. If I repeat the closing down directly after this restart, normally it turns off.
This problem occur only when I use the power supply in battery mode.
I can't say that to me...

    Second:
I have a mini PCI Wlan card for my unit, works very well, but I wonder if it is possible to get the Wlan switch switch work whith it? Or is it only possible whith some special maps? It is not so important, but it would be nice to know if there is a trick or something to get the switch used.

    Best regards
    Gabbagandalf

    Hello

    Regarding your first question;
I'm a bit confused of m are sure you n t use the restart option?
I never noticed anything like that on my laptop

Usually, if I use the Shut down option, I can choose between standby, hibernation, restart and shutdown. If I use the stop that the laptop turns off as it should.
Maybe it's time to s for a reinstallation of the OS?

    On the second question.
The switch on the left side for laptop was designed and developed to pass on the WLan card antenna.
Usually, you should be able to use this switch and to toggle WLan card functionality

Don t understand why it should not work?  :|

  • Question about Satellite 5100

    Hi all..

I have the Toshiba Satellite 5100 and I have a small problem that is with the LCD sub that I have on my laptop... the problem is that the sub LCD should display 'welcome' when I start my laptop and "good bye" when I turn of and it should display the date or anything else that I have chosen to write for the use of the computer... but the problem is when I start my laptop... the LCD screen keeps displaying "Welcome..."
I know it's a silly question... but I love very much my cell phone and I want it remains perfect... so I'm annoyed by stupid little things like the problem, I wrote...
so, if someone can help me please... I would be very greatfull thaaaaaaaaaanx

    Hello Meisoon

AFAIK in Toshiba control properties, you can set that should display the SubLCD. It can be set to the clock or the own channel. It is unclear to me that you can use two different channels and that they can be displayed separately according to the market or off.

If you find out how it works, please write again.

    Good bye

  • Question about Satellite L40 and Vista 32 bit

Hey all, I have the following problem.
I have Satellite L40 series 2 PC and tried to install vista ultimate 32 bit, and they freeze only on the process of "complete installation."
I read in some other forums and found it is not only my problem. I tried with 64 bit ultimate, it's all OK. It may be, the main problem is that it is not possible to install VISTA 32 bit.
I only ultimate now, so my question is if anyone knows or installed to another type of Vista 32 bit on these series?

    Thanks before

As far as I know that all new models of Toshiba laptops come with Vista 32 bit. Satellite L40 is offered in three different models, and each one also comes with 32-bit operating system. If you have the recovery DVDs with your laptop is Vista 32 - bit OS. I assume it must be the Home Premium version.

I don't have a model L, but my model works well on Vista Ultimate.

  • A few questions about Satellite Pro P4600

    Hey ^ ^

I have a few questions on my Satellite Pro 4600

    1. How do I remove the keyboard of an intern?

    2. How can I open the laptop, to add a pci card? or watsch the CPU?

    THX!

    Hello

to remove the keyboard, simply remove the long plastic on top of the keyboard cover. Just take a flat blade screwdriver gently push the upper part where the F1 - F12 keys are under the plastic cover and the elevator that plastic cover.

Why do you want to open your machine? You want to install an additional WIFI card or what? And what do you mean with "watsch" the CPU?

    Could you please clarify it?

    THX :)

  • A few questions about satellite L10-186 and L10-102

Some stores in my city model offers a L10-186. The technical parameters are described the same L10 - 102 (only the amount of RAM is different).
I can't find detailed information because the L10-186 model does NOT exist on Toshiba pages (!)

    Nobody knows:
    1. what exactly are the differences between L10-186 and L10 - 102?
    2. If I buy an extra battery - universal battery fits all laptop L10 for example can I use it with L10-101 too?

Alternatively, if Toshiba has a support email address in order to write and ask? I can't find contact e-mail with Toshiba experts anywhere.

Thanks for your help in advance,
    Peter Thaler

    Hi Piotr

I guess satellite L10-186 is your specific country and you can't find it on the site of Toshiba Europe. If you find any information on the Toshiba site please try to find a dealer in your country that sells this laptop. I checked on Google Ant lots from the southeast of Europe.

The only difference I have found is the RAM. L10 - 102 has only 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of RAM L10 - 186.
As far as I know that the battery needs to adapt to the L10 series.

    Good luck!

  • Question about Satellite A200 - 13L

    Hallo,

I would like to buy a Toshiba laptop. The Satellite A200 - 13L series isn't already available. So a store told me that there are products of follower: Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 with 2 x 2.2 GHz!

But the new collection hasn t the best system the older one, and a black keyboard.
    What can I do? Pending?

The specification of it is very good, but I need the old box with a white keyboard and a system of his best.

    Hello

Sorry, but it is not easy to say what you need to do. You have your opinion and your own priorities. Inform you about all the models available and make a decision. Don't buy something if you're not 100% sure that you want it to be.

For me design is very important, but the hardware is much more important to me. Make sure that the laptop has graphics card good, enough RAM and all that you have to work for every day (WLAN, BT, perhaps of the webcam and so on).

  • Question about Satellite A30-power adapter

    Hello

I own a laptop Satellite A30 and my charger just died. I have looked on the internet to buy a new one, but can not find the same model of the same brand (delta ADP-90FB REV electronics. (E) and having trouble finding something on the site Web of Toshiba.
I found some Chargers compatible with laptops Satellite A30 on another site, but they are quite expensive (about £55). Another less expensive option?

    Thank you

    Thomas

    Hello

Believe me: it s better to use than stuff unnamed original equipment. On the one hand, you win money and if your machine is broken due to a power adapter that gives your machine
    a wrong voltage or whatever.

I had a great experience with my tecra 8100 a few years ago:

My old AC was broken, so I bought one in a store, which has been declared as "corresponds to 100% and blablabla".

    Cost: $ 37

After a while my machine freezes sometimes and for a day-> no boot.
Then I gave my machine to fix after they have made their diagnosis, they asked, what sort of AC, I used. Heh? They explained to me, I used the AC adapter was not a constant voltage,
If some capacitors smd-says 'goodbye '.

You can save money, but give you him another side, believe me.

  • Eco utility + a few questions about Satellite P855

Hi guys, I'm happy user of Satellite P855-11 q. Unfortunately, due to software issues, I had to reinstall Windows on my computer system. This resulted in the following problems:
-I can't use the software utility eco-, I downloaded the driver from the Toshiba website, but it is not working properly. An error occurs all the time, not to mention the fact that the eco utility button doesn't work at all!
-I don't know how I can use my backlight led (is there a driver for that?)
-FN button does not work for the dimming / brightening up the screen.

Thank you in advance for help!

Just a question at the beginning: you have installed original recovery image (WIN7 64-BIT HOME PREMIUM) that you got with your laptop or your own version of the OS?

  • Questions about Satellite M50 130

    Hi all!

I just got my first Toshiba NB - could not decide between them or another but heard so many horror stories about others, I went to Toshiba and I am very happy.

    However, two questions please:

    (a) the laptop is VERY hot to the touch - what is usual and it's dangerous.
    (b) my model has a 14 '' Trubrite screen, but the quality of the photos on it for DVD movies is poor compared with a DVD player - is this rare? and you can only watch the DVD from a certain angle of the screen - once again, it is because of the screen trubite?

    Thank you very much

    Congratulations on your new laptop.

    in response to your questions

    (A) the fact that you say it is to warm, although VERY is not a problem. If you said it was very hot, then I'd be concerned. Machines are designed to shut down and turn off if then become hot. Although I'd be worried if you said it was hot around the battery area. So, if you can let us know where it's hot?
    (B) when you say poor, how do you say. In theory, they should be better than a TV because of best image signals. Have you tried more than one DVD?

  • Questions about Satellite 1115-S103 upgrade

    Hello
There are Toshiba Satellite 1115-S103, configuration Intel Celeron 1500 256 MB 20 GB M6 ATI DVD - ROM 16MB 14.1 "1024 x 768. I want to do the upgrade and I have a few questions:
    1. What more powerful CPU could be placed in the laptop?
    2. What is the largest size of RAM?
    3. What is the largest capacity of the hard drive?
4 could replace the graphics card with a newer version?
    5. an internal Wi - Fi adapter could be placed in the laptop (not to mention that in the PCMCIA slot)?

Looking forward for your reply. Best regards.

    Hello

Don't expect too much! The laptop upgrades are limited and it is not easy or especially not possible to upgrade the laptop parts.
The Sat 1115-103 seems to be a mobile American.

1.) usually the CU upgrade is not possible. Seems that you can only use the Intel Mobile Celeron up to 1,8 GHz

(2.) the RAM can be upgraded up to 512 MB (2 x 256 MB). You can use the SODIMM, DDR PC2100 modules as Kingston KTT3614/256 256 MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM module

(3.) the laptop came with 20 GB. Am I wrong? In my opinion, you can use the 2.5 ", 9.5 mm hard drives up to 40 GB.

4.) graphics card cannot be replaced. It is fixed on the Board!

5.) I am not 100% sure if the laptop supports a Wlan minPCI card slot but worth case you can use a USB WiFi key to connect the laptop to the Wlan.

  • Question about Satellite C55 - has battery

My battery is never charged over 59%. It says "plugged in, load", but no. load more than 59%. C55 - A satellite

One of the reasons why the battery doesn't charge. could be activated Eco charge mode.

    More details:
    http://www.MyToshiba.com.au/support/items/FAQ/847

But I think that if you have already activated this option, the question might be linked to the failure of the battery.

The laptop is still covered by the warranty?
If Yes, you can try to contact a service center to verify and if necessary to replace the battery.

  • A few different questions with Satellite A80 116

    Hello

I'm having strange problems with my recently bought A80 - 116. I bought this computer in Germany a month ago, and problems seem to be showed up quickly after I received it.
    1. when the computer begins to start suddenly just for some reason, the hard drive light flashes and in light of the end, just burn for a long time. The system also is not responding to Ctrl-Alt-Delete. Then I push the power button for a long time, turn off the system. After this system tries to start almost in the same way, but Toshiba welcome screen disappeared and then spring Marvell Yukon bios messages that say that certain errors occur, and I need to check the cable.
    2. when I turned off quick boot in the BIOS, messages about control memory appeared, and stopped just before messages about hard drive found. Message on the hard drive is sometimes present, after starting this system.
Often, this problem appeared when recharging from a State of hibernation system.
    3. the system often does not recharge after sleep. It seems that the system is hang-ups or blue screen.

My suggestions were that the problem may be in the old BIOS 1.50, but I upgraded to 1.70 and steel of problem persists.
Another suggestion is that some problems may be in drive hard or network card.
    I'm waiting for practical assistance.

    Thank you
    SergK.

    Hi Sergey

I think you have a problem with your hard drive and you should contact the service.

The errors you get from Marvell Yukon - which is the network card - is just the information that the PC has attempted to boot from LAN, but he can't do it because maybe the most basic check - the one that a netcable is connected - failed. Don't think too much about now because it is not very related to your problem more that it shows that the PC has try devices more bootable can indicate hard disk problems.

I spend more time trying to locate the problem, everything you describe was told there is an intermittent problem with the hard drive.

    Good luck

    Tom
