Disable the touchpad on laptop Dell Inspiron 1501 with Vista

I have checked the BIOS and can not see anyway to disable the touchpad from this location. When you use XP, I was able to disable the touchpad easily, but have not been able to do it under Vista. I was on the Dell site to see if it is a question of laptop. I have not received response to date. Please help I don't like the concept of the touchpad. I much prefer a mouse and do not use one. Please help if you know of any way to disable the touchpad. TKS

AllisoninMN,
Here is the link to the information you need on the site of Dell:

http://support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/DSN/en/document?c=us&CS=19&DL=false&l=en&s=DHS&docid=EFB3FA8537BFDD4DE030030ABD620900&doclang=en

Hope that solves your problem.
