  I did several searches and can't seem to find a way to turn off my touch pad on my laptop Lenovo. I recently updated my laptop with Windows 8, so I don't know if this has anything to do with it.

  My computer laptop lenovo I had to install the driver Synaptics support pages of Lenovo to my Fn + F6 combination of keys to work & turn the touchpad on or off but quickly discovered that it reactivates each time it starts so I had to open the mouse in the control panel and Synaptics window, there is a big disable button that permantly disables once connected to this user account , but otherwise his license... which is a good thing if a problem at the start.

I have a serious problem when you type in will I suddenly find I type in a place far behind the cursor. All THREE so-called solution have no effect on my keyboard. To the right of F12 key ejects the CD. F3 provides details on the battery and Fn + F1 does nothing - in other words there is no change at all.

  You must have an application on your portable computer that governs your Touchpad control. To find it, go to control panel, click Properties of the mouse, find the Touchpad tab along the top row of tabs. Click on that and you should be able to find several parameters that allow you to disable the buttons, the buttons on pointing stick and Touchpad itself. In addition, it has a checkbox to disable the Touchpad when an external mouse is detected.

  If you do not have this application, you must download it from the Dell site. To do that I need the model laptop, you have (all letters and numbers) or your number Service number (at the bottom of the laptop), as well as the version and color depth of Windows 7 you are using (Tip: go into Control Panel, click on system, the info is in the first box of information).

  What is the brand and model of your laptop? What version of Windows 7?

  Many laptops have a key that will enable/disable the touchpad - mine is on the top row of keys where the function keys.

  You could also open mouse in Control Panel and look for an option here.

  You see Synaptics tab? In the affirmative, please use this tab to disable the touchpad, if no, you must use the tab settings of the HP control area (for the newer machines). And in both cases, check the box "turn off internal...." 'and 'Apply'.
