  • Disable the touchpad with mouse connected in Windows 7

I have a Dell Inspiron 1420.  Recently walking from Vista to Windows 7.  In Vista, I had the Mouse/touchpad settings set to disable the touchpad when a USB mouse is connected.  Cannot find the menu/right screen now put back in Windows 7.  Cannot not even find any indication of a touchpad or software for this anywhere in the menus of the program or the material.  Don't want to permanently disable the touchpad, just at the moment where a mouse is connected. Looking for step by step instructions, please!

Contact Dell and ask where you can get Windows 7 software support for the touchpad that is adapted to your laptop. Dell tells you, it is possible that software exist on the Synaptics or Alps support pages, but you need to know who of the touchpad is equipped... Hello

Mouse configuration panel - look for the TouchPad settings - perhaps under the parameters of the device and your own tab
may be different (it is NOT the Scrollings tab which is for the mouse). On some, you can activate
and disable scrolling and/or define the size of the area and the sensitivity of the touchpad.

Some will have a TouchPad progam/control icon in the Notification area near the clock-
    at the bottom right.

Some models also have quick access to toggle the touchpad keys.

It was reported a problem with Dell Touchpads too sensitive - check with

    Thanks to all who responded.

I had this mess when I did a system update Dell routine and sent the new Alps driver, who immediately washed Select my previous settings.

Yes, I tgried to return to the former pilot, who worked flawlsly for many a yearf without success.

I finally solved the problem, at least on my machine.

    A. Click Start; in the RUJN area type: main.cpl

    B. click on the graph of a touchpad

    C. click DEVICE SELECT

    D. at the bottom of this window, you will see a "Disable touchpad" line preceded by a checkbox. Check the box and now the touchpad is disabled.

    TouchPad and sensitivity.

Also check the Notifification area near the clock in the bottom right as there may be a program running
    who controls the Touchpad.

Some models have shortcut keys that allows to control the Touchpad.

  • Impossible to disable the touchpad on my dell inspon laptop windows 7

No matter how I try, keyboard gets up in the middle of the text, I type.  have not been able to turn off on my computer dell laptop, windows 7

    Hello Joan.

You must have an application on your portable computer that governs your Touchpad control. To find it, go to control panel, click Properties of the mouse, find the Touchpad tab along the top row of tabs. Click on that and you should be able to find several parameters that allow you to disable the buttons, the buttons on pointing stick and Touchpad itself. In addition, it has a checkbox to disable the Touchpad when an external mouse is detected.

If you do not have this application, you must download it from the Dell site. To do that I need the model laptop, you have (all letters and numbers) or your number Service number (at the bottom of the laptop), as well as the version and color depth of Windows 7 you are using (Tip: go into Control Panel, click on system, the info is in the first box of information).

After back here with your results. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Kind regards

  • FN + F3 disable the Touchpad does not work. Dell XPS L702X

Hello, I am new to this forum.

The function FN + F3 that disable the Touchpad does not work, my laptop Dell XPS 17 (L702X)

I googled my problem and the only thing I found was this: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19454265.aspx

I think that my problems with the touchpad started when I plugged a mouse into the USB port. It didn't work (it worked well before), and in material-sound-mouse control panel, the system asked me to uninstall a driver or other. I do not remember, but later the mouse worked.

After this weird thing with the mouse, I noticed that the touchpad was malfunctioning. While I write, the cursor moves without touching the touchpad, it is annoying because it makes me write bad because he is moving in the middle of writing, as I write so it's a mess.

The second oddity, the Fn + F3 does not disable the touchpad, the orange light come on (the led on the top of the touchpad), but the cursor can be moved in any case, with or without a connected mouse.

I checked for driver updates, perform an audit of the system, checked for viruses, spywares and I don't know what I could do. I don't know if the problem with the mouse had nothing to do with the function Fn + F3 problem.

I have not formatted or re installed windows 7, never.

In Device Manager I have this:

-mouse and other pointing devices:-Compatible PS/2 mouse

    Help, please. Thank you.
