Error when you try to install Acrobat XI on a new PC
I'm trying to install Acrobat XI on a new machine at home (it is installed on my laptop since last July). During the extraction process, I receive one the following error message:
I run the installation as an administrator, and place the extracted files in a folder with full access. There is plenty of space on the hard disk. The PC running Windows Enterprise 8.1 and has the latest patches from Microsoft. No idea why I get this error or how to work around?
Thank you
CCM
Thanks for the quick response. Running as an administrator was one of the first things I did when the problem arose. Sorry, I would understand that in my original post.
Since writing the post, I downloaded a free trial of Acrobat and then entered my key. Worked well. Here's my theory on what was wrong.
1. I bought this software in July last and immediately installed on my laptop Windows 8.1. Installation worked fine. My home computer was running Windows 7 and a previous version of Acrobat so I had no reason to install my copy of 'extra' on this machine.
2 just bought a new PC running Windows 8.1 and home that I'm going through the process of your travel time. When I tried to install the latest version of Acrobat on the new PC, he produced the error described. Most likely, Microsoft changed something that makes my original installation of incompatible. Meanwhile, Adobe fixed the incompatibility later install works.
Of course, this is strictly theoretical, but of course, it seems to fit.
Please consider this case closed.

Windows error when you try to install Adobe Flash
I get an error everytime I try to install Adobe Flash on my PC. I'm running Vista 32 bit with IE9. I try to install Flash player and I get this message:
Adobe Flash player 10.1 to install/uninstall r85 has stopped working. A problem caused the blocking of the program work properly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. »
I tried to install & uninstall, both in mode ADMIN I have never make it past the installation attempt, it goes directly into the error message. Adobe Flash installed before, I had, but Youtube and other sites Web ask you to update and since then, no flash. I think I've tried almost all suggestions of troubleshooting the ADOBE forums and even displayed in the Adobe site and they said:
" I contact Microsoft and let them know what is happening and the message you receive. Something wrong with Vista IE8 or both. I wish I could be more useful, but the problem is bigger than Flash Player. If it's Flash Player and an installation problem, you will receive a message from Adobe Flash Player. »
Any ideas on this subject?
Use this special IE9 beta of Adobe Flash:

1290 error when you try to install Media Center extender for X 360 in Win7 Pro x 64
OK, here's one for someone who knows Win7 Kernel internals.
I am trying to connect my XBox 360 to my PC MC with Windows 7 Pro x 64. When I type the code 8 digits of the Xbox in Media Center, I get an error "Setup." Check the system error log, I found that it was a failure of the Media Extender service to start. Stop of is an error 1290, that says "service start failed because one or more services in the same process have a service SID inconsistent type parameter.» SID type has something to do with the core permissions or somesuch. WAY out of my League. The only thing that I could find online is that this error occurs sometimes in what concerns the time Service Windows, and that a registry edit to fix it. I tried a similar "fix" on this service registry entry, but it had no effect on this error, so I changed the return register.Someone has an idea of what I might try next? I did all the standard things that are recommended for problems of Media Extender, including uninstalling and reinstalling all components of media. Re-installation of Windows is NOT an option at this stage, this computer is used by all my children, and there would be a mutiny if he became unavailable for a long period of time (especially for as "lame" reason like this). I'd really listen to my media to my XBox. I hope that someone with some knowledge of the works of this service lies this question one day. Thanks for reading."Bottom in Phoenix.Hi Ken Nichols

I am running Acrobat 9 Pro (9.5.5). Do we not have to buy the new version if we have never updated? Or we have the right to upgrade to the latest version.
I'm not really clear on the intent of your question. If you can get the latest version you want to buy it. When you go to buy, you should be able to see if it has an option to buy an update of the version you currently have. I can't find the purchase page to check it out myself... I can only find the subscription option.

Installation of Adobe met an unexpected failure when you attempt to install the first instance of AdobeAcrobatPro DC. It is the exact error message and seems to be the case for a number of users. I am running Windows 7 and was already able to install Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and have Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX installed successfully. It's the exact error message, there is NO error code! It seems as there is no support number to contact Adobe to, and the only way to receive the 'support' is through the forum. PLEASE ANSWER!
Hi tracyes31040766,
If it you please run this tool cleaner Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat cleaning - Adobe Labs tool to remove the old Acrobat, retsrat your system plates & then try to install it again using this link Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat Pro DC.
