    Hello

How to disable UAC in Windows Vista using LabVIEW Control window?

I did this VI (see attached). This VI works, if I have manually disabled the UAC window (regedit: "Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System - EnableLUA = 0 [DWORD]) of the control panel or regedit.

If I run my VI on a computer that has ON UAC, I can't open the registry key. Although, if I manually go to regedit and
change the variable windows EnableLUA to zero and restart the computer.
Then, I'll be able to control this LabVIEW registry key.

    Is
It's kind around to disable UAC only with LabVIEW. This means,
is it possible to change the EnableLUA variable Windows when I
    previously, I have UAC running?

    Thank you

    Hi JPLO,

If you run your VI as long as limited or in admin approval mode user, I expect not to be able to disable admin approval mode. Try right-clicking on the LabVIEW icon in the Start Menu and select "run as Administrator" and then run your VI.

    Hello

Yes, it is true that turning off UAC does not affect when the installation of applications or programs. Usually the UAC prompts the user when you try to install programs from unknown publishers or third-party Web sites. UAC for the security of the system.

    Hello

My son just download this new game, Star Wars: The Old Republic. As it is on a separate user account which is password protected (I am the administrator), whenever it will open up this game, the UAC asking my password, and it really gets on my nerves, because every time I'm dragged more to put in it for him. Be able to disable the UAC for a specific application would defy its purpose which is to prevent programs do things behind your back. If you can turn it off then that would create a gap as rogue applications exploiting immediately. You have two options:

    • See the FAQ for this game in order to see if it can be changed to be compatible Windows 7.
    • Get a compatible version of Windows 7 the game.

  • How to disable the VirtualStore in Windows 7?

Tell me why I should leave it or what it does. I know what he does. It prevents my application to work correctly. The application must be able to read/write files in their ACTUAL location, not in their virtual store. Disable UAC on Vista it kills, but in 7, it isn't. How can I disable this feature of AWFUL bug [s] [s]?

The application is shared on the network and have the machine hosting on windows 7 means that the host cannot run the application because it won't work 'live' data.

Thank you microsoft, again, you know exactly what the program or the user wants to do better than them. >:(

The way to disable in vista and 7 (which does not disable the UAC in vista) is to use the TAKE OWNERSHIP permission (google it and get the reg file to add it to your right click menu) to take charge of the case. Then give desired of all users full access to the folder, windows will be stop duplication in and working outside your store.

No, thank you to everyone who came and told me I didn't know what I was doing / did not feature (BUG) / should not turn it off.

I write the answer to help those who agree with me that this virtual store is nonsense. And this happening to a computing device rather than a computer is also ridiculous. I want an OS, not a computing device. If I wanted a computing device I would buy a mac.

  • UAC prevents the use of the specific command

I recently decided to add a password for my user account on my desktop computer.  I have windows 7.  After doing so I was not able to use my main storage successfully drive.  Everything on my SSD w / windows7 installed works fine but no matter what on my drive larger capacity of storage does not work.

    • All the games that I have backed up on the storage drive will have errors trying to load/run them.
    • I can't save new files to this disc, because I don't have permission.
    • I can't move files from the drive because I don't have permission.

I tried to solve the problem by removing the password I created, but I still get the same errors trying to do things from above.  I also disabled all UAC only by moving the cursor to "never notify" but that did nothing.  I don't know what to do next, the other, a running system restore.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Chris

There is no magic to this. Here are the basic steps to give a specific account to access a folder:

    1. Open the Security tab of the folder.
    2. Add the specific account name to the list of existing accounts.
    3. Give this account full access to the folder.
To give this account full access to the child folders, continue with 4.
    4. Click the Advanced button.
    5. Replace existing permissions with the permissions of the folder subfolder parent (as determined in step 3).

Add your account name (FLang in my case) to the set of names that have access to the selected folder. I numbered the steps 1 to 3.

Give this account the rights of 'total control '.

    4 click on "Advanced".

    5 click on "change permissions".

6 check for permissions to percolate in the subdirectories.

  • How do I see what changes, UAC prompts all?

When I run shareware or a program downloaded recently, I worry about what "changes" or UAC is prompting action.

For example: Pixeur selector of color (http://www.veign.com/application.php?appid=107)
I don't expect really a pipette to give me the UAC guests - but it does. However when I look at the UAC dialog for more details, he said only program location - no details about what is tyring to do.
Given that the 'changes' or 'actions' of the program are what UAC alert me, I am concerned and want to know EXACTLY WHAT CHANGES or ACTIONS the program is trying to do, so I can confirm their.
The UAC dialog box does not appear to be any information whatsoever?  I have to guess blindly, without knowing / being able to choose what I agree to?
It's like a legal contract I don't get see first?
    ?????????????????????????????
Why hell Microsoft choose to scare & alarm me, like that, without giving me any visibility or details - so I can make an informed choice.
    Sigh.
I paid money for Windows 7, I thought that the days of Vista garbage exceeded & I finally have a decent OS.
I paid money for Windows 7, I thought that the days of Vista garbage exceeded & I finally have a decent OS.

We will calm down a bit and consider this:

    • UAC is designed to prevent programs that are not allowed to do risky things behind your back.
    • Attempts to create or modify files in the files system is considered to be risky.
    • It is also risky to attempt to change the registry.
It's as simple as that. If the color of pixeur selector keeps generating warnings of the UAC, then you have three options:
-To obtain a compatible version of Windows 7.
-Check the FAQ to know how to bypass the problem.
    -Disable the UAC (not recommended).
  • Problem with the Excel add-in-TDM

    Hi-

I used the ExcelTDM snap-in on other machines w / no problem, but I tried downloading it on a new computer (w / office 2003, Vista) & the icons do not appear in excel.

I tried to follow the instructions on this page: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/5874

I am stuck at step #3 b/c the ExcelTDM.dll file isn't the case on the computer.  Is it possible that the add-in is not download correctly?  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the add-in twice now, with the same results.

Any halp would be appreciated!  Thank you!!!

    Erin

    Hi ErinH,

We want to confirm that you get the latest installer from the web download of the first http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2944 .

Then, you will notice at the bottom of the download page there is a trick:

After installing the TDM Excel Add-In in Microsoft Vista , you need start Microsoft Excel at least once by using administrator privileges.

So if you use the Add-In in Vista, you can disable the UAC (User Account Control), or right-click on Excel.exe and "run as Administrator" for the first time.

    Good luck!
