Disadvantages of AD Schema migration

Hi team,

We intend to upgrade our schema for the last Server 2008 R2, but until we do, we'd like to know little things like

1. What are the disadvantages of the upgrade of the Server 2008 R2 de Windows Seerver 2003 AD schema

2. list of services have been affected (Sharepoint service service certificate, etc...)

3. the main things that should be kept in mind before the upgrade

4 Rolback plans and the success rate of downgrade to the previous backup scheme (Please provide information on the backup of Windows and Quest)

5 offer the steps in migrating to Server 2008

Thanks in advance,

Toto Riina

Please repost your request in one of the most appropriate Windows Server Forums.  Thank you!

  • Migration from db2 to Oracle - different schemas

Using the Migration Wizard from the SQL Developer, can I migrate from a db2 schema to another Oracle schema?

I know that I am able to do the following:

    Source: db2Database target: OracleDatabase.userA

And the db2 schema (say UserA) is recreated in the OracleDatabase as UserA.

However, I would like to make

    Source: db2Database.userA target: OracleDatabase:userB

So far I have not much chance.  Any suggestion would be appreciated...

    Thank you

    \k

    I found a solution.

I kept the privileges of the user in the State for UserB (is that I used the following)

GRANT CREATE SESSION, RESOURCE, CREATE VIEW, CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW, CREATE SYNONYM TO UserB.

I also changed my preferences under Options Migration\Generation and selected the option of least privilege Schema Migration

Before data movement occurs, manually, I went into the table MD_SCHEMAS in the migration repository and indicated to the schema UserB (by changing the column NAME for UserB)

Then with the data step moving ==> it works.  Correctly, the data is migrated in the correct schema,

  • 9.3.1 to 11.1.2 by complete reconstruction - all parts can migrate?

Oracle and the evasive answers and non-disclosure of 11.1.2.1 delayed our project until we move on because of our thin window of availability before our next budget cycle.

We are aware, there is no migration tool to move the application planning 9.3.1 to the 11.1.2 it is why we are planning:

    1. create users/groups from scratch
    2. establish the commissioning by Aboriginal groups
    3. build the hull of the new planning application in 11.1.2
    4. by export ODI the dimensions of the 9.3.1 app and 11.1.2 load app
    5 create rules from scratch
    6 create forms from scratch
    7. data export 9.3.1 and load in 11.1.2

My biggest fear is the lack of precision in the text of the cell and support and I don't want to recreate those from scratch and I was wondering if there is an option to take the repository tables do a bulk export 9.3.1 then do a bulk insert in the 11.1.2 repositories

One of the steps and my fear is something I could do via export/migration of 9.3.1 to expedite the process? We plan on the construction of the form from scratch in 11.1.2 then ODI and exports to fill the 11.1.2 production server.

All the reviews is greatly appreciated.

    JTS

    Hello

The user/groups/commissioning you may be able to speed up a litte, run the utility CSSImportExport 9.3.1
In 11.1.2 provision a user/group run an export of LCM, then you should with some work to match the 11.1.2 9.3.1 format it will not be a perfect match but should speed up things a bit.

You can always make a planning application 9.3.1 a 11.1.2 using the usual method of creating an empty planning application then the schema migration, then clicking on the button to migrate.
It does not work and the structure of the table is exactly the same when the migrated button has been click as a planning application empty.
The only area where you can have questions are around the supply already in the planning tables but there are ways around that if meet them you.
Even with business rules you should be able to at least import/export, probably lose provisioning, and then if you want to convert the calc Manager you can export business of 11.1.2 EAS rules and load in Calc Manager.

You could go down the road of ODI but don't forget no ODI extracted no metadata planning, essbase should be and then transformed.

  • Migration of data from XE to 11 GB

    Hello
I was running application on XE, which, thanks to the huge amount of downloads, it grows very quickly, and he started all of a sudden strange behavior when downloading the file. It would display error as "the requested URL /apex/wwv_flow.accept was not found on this server" on the download of files.

I discovered that I am about to the limit of 4 GB of XE, and I hope that it is the cause of the problem. So now I install 11g.

My question is: what would be the smartest way to move data from one database to another. Or, more precisely put, how do to move files downloaded, how can I move the WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS?

    Hello

In this case, I'd probably go just an upgrade of database (that is, upgrade your instance of XE directly with 11g) instead of a migration (unless you want to run both simultaneously, that from your description it doesn't sound like it).

Take a look at the upgrade of XE - guide

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B25329_01/doc/server.102/b32391/TOC.htm

(He talks specifically about the upgrade to 10.2.0.3, but of course, later versions would be equally valid (but check metalink for any "quirks" upgrade between versions).

In addition to the suggestion of Tony of a database link, I'd also get for Datapump which is absolutely superb for schema migration etc. between instances.

    Hope this helps,

    John.

Hi Sunshiva, loading bulk disliked LDIFs generated by oidcmprec

The ldif generated from oidcmprec was not supported by bulkload due having hashes ' # ' and changetype lines

    I went to another approach

export the current domain/domain using ldapawrite

didn't need to do schema migration because I am downloading to the field again in the same OID Server

I then used the tool linux 'sed' on the LDIF exported to:

    (1) replace the domain name with the new domain name (took account of the packaging line in LDIF specification).

    (2) remove the opus as authpassword attributes

    (3) orclguid remove the ldif file (bulkload will create new orclguids)

    (4) (optional) reset the custom attributes (userpassword)

    in a new LDIF file

used the bulk loading and oidrealm to create the new Kingdom

  • Wise schema exp/imp or complete database exp/imp better in cross platform database 10g migration

    Hello

When you perform a migration of database platform (big-endian to little endian) of 10 grams, which should be preferred to a database export import full or can do without schema using exp/imp?

The data base is about 3 TB and a server Oracle ebs with many diagrams custom in it.

    Your suggestions are welcome.

For EBS. export/import of individual schemas is not supported, because of the dependence between the different schemes of EBS - only complete export/import are supported.

What are the exact versions of EBS and database?

  • 4.1 ai2 Migration for SQL Server: cannot change the schema name?

I'm trying to convert a SQL Server database to Oracle.

As I wanted to insert into an existing (with not the same name on SQL Server) schema, I followed this guideline:

A SQL Developer... @dermotoneill: migrate existing users of Oracle

I first picked up the source and then tried to convert the designation.

    but there is no tab:

    Migrate_missing_naming.jpg

(you can see it's really show the previously entered data as I can choose the check box 'Show only data types used in the source model')

Is there a new path now how to map the schema?

    Thank you

    Martin

    Hi Martin,

This page of naming of the object has been removed from the migration wizard.

The feature is now available in the migration of object report.

It's easier to work with the report that you can filter and order objects according to your needs.

In this case, you can simply show the OBJECT_TYPE = 'SCHEMA '.

    The steps are so.

    (1) capture and convert you data source

    (2) open the report of the object (left click on the node "Convert database objects") and change the SCHEMA TARGET_OBJECT_NAME objects in your name of the desired target. Commit the changes.

Translate 3) and generate the Oracle database (right-click on the node "Convert database objects")

    Kind regards

    Dermot.

  • Migrate a schema from oracle 8i to 11g

    Hello

I am struggling to find all the obligation to upgrade a pattern running on oracle 8i db installed on a sparc Server non-global solaris 8 box to an oracle 11 g on solaris 10 x 86 non-global zone.

There are changes in the architecture.

    I know, it's:

export using utiliy exp of oracle 8i

import in oracle 11g utility exp 11 g if it is still available.

I only need to migrate two patterns respectively 1 GB and 2 GB

Here are the patterns and sizes:

    Schema schema name size (MB)

I need to adjust the NLS_Lang to the source db character set both at the source and target machine. the two server do not have the same character set. Oracle 8i has WE8ISO8859P1 and oracle 11g a WE8MSWIN1252

    Hello

Old style exp/imp does not users/tablespace create unless you do a full complete exp/imp - which you don't want to.

You must pre-create the tablespaces/profiles/users relevant to your 2 users prior to importation.

  • related to the scheme of planning export/backup before you plan the migration of the app.

    Hello

I need to take backup of the schema before planning the planning application migration - (from 9.3.1 to 9.3.1)

    (1) should all services of Hyperion be run? for cssexportimport and backup scheme?

    (2) means import/export schema that we linked to datasource/individual application?

    (3) if we copy the SID of the target before the restoration of the schema and then we store SID after that restoration of the scheme will be would it still managed (as I don't know I can check the owner of an application for the source server).

    (4) should stop the services prior to the restoration of the scheme?

If both users on source and target are named admin and the owner of the application, then you don't need to worry.
To be honest, if they are both the administrator account by default hyperion same pointless to store the SID, as it's a standard value.

  • MySql to Oracle DB Migration, creating schema problem

    Hello
Im a beginner, try to migrate a mysql database in oracle. The mysql db contains a few tables, if im trying to migrate everything manually.
When filling out the tables a problem im. It's as follows:

    Table 1 has a Key (t1_col1, t1_col2, t1_col3) primary Composite.
Table2 contains a column (t2_col1), which is a reference to Table1 t1_col1 (to make t1_col1 a repository key in the other table must be UNIQUE or PRIMARY, but as we know table can have a unique primary key and the t1_col1 contains redundant data, so cant make UNIQUE either).
So I tried indexing of the t1_col1 column but it dint seem to work as well, creating table2 it gives "no unique match or primary key for this list of columns.
    ".

I think that MySql is not so strict a lot compared to Oracle, please guide me through this, any workaround (s)?
    This is the MySql schema:

    CREATE TABLE "temp". "table1")
    't1_col1' varchar (50) NOT NULL,
    't1_col2' varchar (50) NOT NULL,
    't1_col3' varchar (50) NOT NULL,
    "t1_col4" integer NOT NULL,
    PRIMARY KEY ('t1_col1', 't1_col2', 't1_col3')
    )
    ENGINE type = InnoDB
    CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci;

    CREATE TABLE "temp". "table2")
    't2_col1' varchar (50) NOT NULL,
    't2_col2' varchar (50) NOT NULL,
    FOREIGN KEY CONSTRAINT 'table2_fk1' 'table2_fk1' ('t2_col1')
    REFERENCES, 'table1' ('t1_col1')
    ON DELETE CASCADE
    ON UPDATE CASCADE
    )
    ENGINE type = InnoDB
    CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci;

    Looking forward to the answer.

    Kind regards
    Peter

If I didn't know that MySQL allows you to declare FK constraints that are non-profit information only and does not apply, I would find this surprisiing really, since the essence of a FK relationship is that the child is identified by the parent.

In Oracle, you must create a primary key for the substitution on the table1 based on the unique combination of col1, col2 and col3. I would certainly use a sequence for it. Next, you create a unique constraint on col1, col2 and col3 to apply your natural primary key. FK in table2 would be the key to substitution from table1. Something like:

    CREATE TABLE table1 (
       t1_surr_key NUMBER NOT NULL,
       t1_col1 Varchar2(50) NOT NULL,
       t1_col2 Varchar2(50) NOT NULL,
       t1_col3 Varchar2(50) NOT NULL,
       t1_col4 integer NOT NULL)

ALTER TABLE table1 ADD CONSTRAINT table1_pk
       PRIMARY KEY (t1_surr_key);

ALTER TABLE table1 ADD CONSTRAINT table1_uk
       UNIQUE (t1_col1, t1_col2, t1_col3);

    CREATE TABLE table2 (
       t2_col1 varchar2(50) NOT NULL,
       t2_col2 varchar2(50) NOT NULL,
       t1_surr_key NUMBER NOT NULL,
    CONSTRAINT table2_fk1 FOREIGN KEY (t1_surr_key)
       REFERENCES table1 (t1_surr_key)
       ON DELETE CASCADE
       ON UPDATE CASCADE)

  • Advantages and disadvantages of the move to 64-bit (part of the migration of Windows 7)

Windows 7 offers the first decent opportunity for many people to move from 32 to 64-bit.  Why would we want to do this?

What are the main benefits of the 64-bit to 32-bit?  The disadvantages?
How much faster (what) is 64 bit to 32 bit?
How do you know that all your hardware is compatible with 64 bit?
What is the processing power weaker, you have to correctly run Windows 7 64 bit?  32 bit?
How much RAM if you properly run Windows 7 64 bit?  32 bit?
What is the best way to find or fix compatibility issues software (64/32)?
What are the most common upgrade problems wait?
Where are the best places to find solutions?
-Answers to all these questions would be useful for me and probably many others.  I know that Microsoft may have already reported their views on most of them, but I'm looking for a more objective point of view.  Thank you.--

    1. a 64 bit OS allows you to use more than 4 GB of RAM. If you have programs that like a lot of RAM (Photoshop, video editing, CAD), it's a good thing. Some video games also take advantage of 64-bit computing.

    2. a 64-bit operating system run 32-bit programs. If there is a 64-bit version of a program is the program mftr. Search on the program mftrs different.' Web sites.

    3. you know that your hardware is compatible with 64 - bit on hardware mftrs.' Web sites and doing research. If you have an OEM computer (Dell, HP, etc.) you are linger everything first. You should always check for devices such as printers, etc. You must have 64-bit for all your hardware drivers.

    4. the amount of RAM you want depends on what you do on your computer. Nobody can answer you. If you surf and email, and play casual games, 2 GB is fine. If you play the video of high-intensity games, you'll want to 3-4GB and a great video card. If you do CAD, you may want 4-6 GB. Do your search according to your computing needs.

    5. for software compatibility, you will have to deal individually with each program. The logical starting point is with the technical support of the program.

    6. you cannot upgrade a 32 bit OS to a 64-bit OS. You must do a clean install.

    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/Win7.html#System_Requirements

Only, I would buy an operating system to 64-bit right now is 32-bit will be eliminated. Of course, you must have the material to support!
