Disc is 11% fragmented optimizer ran still 11% fragmented

Disk defrag doesn't seem to work. I used the command line sfc/scannow corrupted files have been detected and repaired. I used the disk check, and nothing was found. I tried disk defrag and it always generates 11% fragmented. I read somewhere that the defragmentation will not work if there are disk errors. Command prompt work better to correct disk errors, and what would be the appropriate command. Thanks for any help on this.

Defragment a disk doesn't mean it CAN be defragmented.  ;-)

Not all files and other can be defragmented.

In any case... Try these freeware defragmenters to see if they do a better job:

Defraggler
MyDefrag

Their free...  Sometimes (often) they work better than the built-in methods.

I doubt that it is a case of disk errors.

  • Photoshop elements 11 software box installed once in December 2012 install on the new computer. Disc cannot be read (tested on 3 different computers). What's still possible a drive from a very meticulous, well protected?

    Dear Adobe,

    I need your help!

December 12, 2012, I ordered (sold) by mail an official copy of the Adobe Photoshop elements 11 software box B & H Photo (New York, NY). I installed it successfully without any problems on my computer then. I appreciated the help of the program since then, it's great. Last week, however, that computer died and I was force to buy a new computer (Windows 8.1).

To my surprise, the elements drive wouldn't load on my DVD player. The drive just kept "clicking" for 20 minutes.  After trying several times to reboot, for an hour and a half, I tried and then install on my laptop, just to see if my drive is defective. No, it wasn't. He went too immediately in an endless "by clicking on" routine tries to read the disc. And for one last try, I put it in my sister's laptop and she got the same result - no end ' by clicking on ', no. install. No computer to read the disc!

How is it still possible from a disc of commercial manufacturing that I used once in 2012! The disc is a meticulous cleanliness, no scratches, unscuffed, put it in its original box and stored on the shelf in a cool place, away from the Sun!

Serial number of the defective drive: 1057-4186-6029-0039-1511-3940

Is there anything you can do about it as I don't see why I should have to spend more than $130 (in Canada) to replace a disc that worked only once!

    Cordially, André

Copy the contents of your drive to a desktop directory.  install from this directory.

If this fails, download the installation files:

  • Impossible to burn to disc

Although he is able to do in the past, I am now unable to burn to disc. My drive will read disks, snatch them from the library (WMP) and read data disks to add programs, etc. However, when I try to burn to a disc, I got major problems. I go through the proper procedures, insert a blank disc (Sony CD - R 700 MB) select the burning options, i.e. eject after burn, burn audio disc and click on burn start. So go exactly to plan, each rail track prepare in writing waiting for disk %-complete. In the right column, under the tab burn, shows the %. The last track moves disc finalization - full, BUT the tab burn rest at 99% the indication is then No Disc in (E). Shows the tab burn insert a blank disc in (E). Nothing happens, the drive sounds like it is trying to eject, but it's not. If I try and eject in Windows Explorer, (after waiting for at least five or ten minutes), I get an error message saying error occurred while ejecting the DVD - RW (E). I can't eject the disc somehow, the program is obviously still running. My only and last resort, is to "shut down" for 8 seconds. When I restart, go to Explorer and touching "eject" in the DVD player, the disc ejects immediately, but is of course totally empty! I tried each "fix" I do not see in forums etc. nothing works. I ran Microsoft 'Fixit' again without success. Help please!

  • Tecra 9100 - BONES recovered but still no sound

    Hello world

I still have problems with the sound on my m T9100 and it seems that other people have the same.

I bought the laptop with dead mobo then had another to replace and not laid out fresh installation of XP Pro Sp3 and its place and running problem, but no sound.
After reading the other discussions on the topic, I used my Toshiba Recovery discs and all is well but still no sound.

I tried to update the drivers for the card his Yamaha but still not good. So I got another sound card and knowing that he s a good.
I mounted it but guess what no sound, at the moment its running Xp pro but I n t updated all the service packs.

If I used the recovery disks surely it should work because the way you would a obtained again! I m lost now and don t know what to do.

If I uninstall Yamaha altogether and restart I get found new hardware audio controller. Can I get found new Yamaha sound device, and then get Yamaha didn't install and could not function.

    Ideas please fly

    Hello

The problem is that your Yamaha sound card driver does not support the SP1 or SP2.

You said that you have installed XP Pro and Sp3.
SP3 can be installed ONLY if SP2 has been installed too so the reason why you n her t get is clear; compatibility issue between the Member States of service packs and pilot of his Yamaha.

Please see the page of the European driver Toshiba. In the Archive-> Tecra-Tecra-Tecra 9100 > 9xxxx-> driver sound >, you will find two different its XP drivers.

    Try to update!

  • Pavilion Dv6 & HP2000 computers laptops: order windows restore discs

Help!  I have 2 laptops I want to reformat and reinstall Win 7 (64 bit). I have a copy of Windows 7 on both, but in my last shot of some books of office and folders disappeared, and Yes, my folders with installation for most of my software discs are not found.

I have the product key Win for both, I wonder if I can order real HP install disks to reinstall the drivers specific to each laptop and the O.S.?  Is it too late to get always the disks for Win 7 now that Win 10 is fashionable?  I really like the stability that I receive in Win 7... These 2 laptops are runnin strong, but it's time to do my rag and reinstall processes to clear the em!   :-)

Please direct me if there is a place where I can place this order and thank you all!

Sorry you had such a difficult time there!

You can try to run the system recovery method in the Recovery Manager program, or F11 invites.

It shouldn't work in other than to use the recovery discs.

In case you still want the disks, you can order them from this provider no HP as well.

The cost should not be a lot more than if you order at HP (which seems to be problematic).

    Lasr first question:
    > microsoft has stated that they do more and its impossible is true?
Yes, Microsoft is manufacturing and sale of Windows 7. No more Vista.

    RE: 64-bit disc.
    > I spent $ 400 on this disc in windows vista ultimate and the 32 bit disc, I got damaged and I still have the 64-bit.

At least that I was wrong all this time, I don't see why you can't install your Ultimate 64-bit.
You must do a clean install, because you install a 64-bit on a 32-bit computer.
Your product key, however, is the same as your 32-bit.

Here is the tutorial to own a full version of Vista installation:

  • HP Pavilion G6-2123us: repair bootable disc and USB attached drive

While he is started on a repair disc, I'm trying to get a picture of a USB external drive system.  The laptop is not able to see the USB drive.  The USB ports are enabled in mode repair disc?

What I've learned, it's that some newer laptops have a combination of USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports.  Usually the right side of port (port of the mouse) is 2.0 and the left side ports are 3.0.   The Windows 7 repair disc boot environment does not support 3.0 ports.   So the partial answer is to connect the My Passport drive in the mouse port. You will be then able to see the USB, but the downside, is that you have no mouse because the mouse does not work in the ports of 3.0 (or at least mine didn't).  However, the final problem was that even with the key USB plugged into the mouse port and the disc visible by the system, it still can't find the images on the disk.  (maybe the software finds only some drive letters?).  The final solution was to get a 3rd party backup package (Norton Ghost in my case) allowed me to do a custom Ghost disk repair which, when started, was able to see Ghost images, I created.

You have been given some discs but you have invited to MAKE the RECOVERY PARTITION recovery disks...

You will need the code key on the COA sticker that is on the basis of your machine, or perhaps in the battery compartment.

Also, make a note of the version of Windows 7...

  • How can I burn a movie SOUL encoded on disc?

Hello.  How to save my movie encoded in 2 separate files; audio and video. I think than I like that 1 file only so that I can drag and drop the file ready to burn to a disc. I use CS5 but still died. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

    Hello

I use CS5 but still died.

Do you mean that you have not yet installed?

  • I can drop discs asm online?

    Hi all

I would like to change my diskgroup by adding new disks and the removal of some other old records.
The reason main is that the former created administrator of disks of different sizes and I would like to have all the disks in the same, small size.

I use a single asm diskgroup with external redundancy for everything (OCR, voting, data, archivelog)

I know that I can add the new disks online.
Can I also put online the old records? ASM will automagically migrate extended on the remaining when removing discs disks while the database is still ongoing?
I have not found a clear statemente in the docs.

    Thank you
    Andrea

    Yes - looks very good.

  • Why the optimizer ignores Index Fast full Scan when much lower cost?

Summary (tracking details below) - to improve the performance of a query on more than one table, I created an index on a table that included all the columns referenced in the query. With the new index in place the optimizer is still choosing a full Table Scan on an Index fast full scan. However, by removing the one query tables I reach the point where the optimizer suddenly use the Index Fast Full Scan on this table. And 'Yes', it's a lot cheaper than the full Table Scan it used before. By getting a test case, I was able to get the motion down to 4 tables with the optimizer still ignoring the index and table of 3, it will use the index.

So why the optimizer not chooses the Index Fast Full Scan, if it is obvious that it is so much cheaper than a full Table Scan? And why the deletion of a table changes how the optimizer - I don't think that there is a problem with the number of join permutations (see below). The application is so simple that I can do, while remaining true to the original SQL application, and it still shows this reversal in the choice of access path. I can run the queries one after another, and he always uses a full Table Scan for the original query and Index fast full scan for the query that is modified with a table less.

Watching trace 10053 output for the two motions, I can see that for the original query 4 table costs alone way of ACCESS of TABLE UNIQUE section a full Table Scan. But for the modified query with a table less, the table now has a cost for an Index fast full scan also. And the end of the join cost 10053 does not end with a message about exceeding the maximum number of permutations. So why the optimizer does not cost the IFFS for the first query, when it does for the second, nearly identical query?

This is potentially a problem to do with OUTER joins, but why? The joins between the tables do not change when the single extra table is deleted.

It's on 10.2.0.5 on Linux (Oracle Enterprise Linux). I did not define special settings I know. I see the same behavior on 10.2.0.4 32-bit on Windows (XP).

    Thank you

    DETAILS
I've reproduced the entire scenario via SQL scripts to create and populate the tables against which I can then run the queries. I've deliberately padded table so that the length of the average line of data generated is similar to that of the actual data. In this way the statistics should be similar on the number of blocks and so forth.

I mentioned that it is a bug related to the ANSI SQL standard and transformation probably.

As suggested/asked in my first reply:
    1. If you use a no_query_transformation then you should find that you get the use of the index (although not in the plan you would expect)
    2. If you use the traditional Oracle syntax, then you should not have the same problem.

  • Xps420 bluray player BD - RE of PLDS DH - 4B1S burn BD - RE discs, but fails to burn BD - R discs

I have a XPS420 running Windows Vista (32) Ultimate with SP1.  My blu - ray burner is BD - RE of PLDS DH - 4B1S.  All the drivers for my system are up-to-date, including the latest firmware 7 13 for the burner, and all the bluray, engraving software is up to date.

I can burn Blu - ray rewritable (BD - RE) discs without problem but the system still shuts down and restarts (but crashes then) with an error message when you try to burn Blu - ray rewritable (BD - R).  Medium used is Sony BD - RE 50 GB and Sony BD - R (25 GB) and Verbatim BD - R (25 GB).

I get the error message is:

"Drive 1 not found: Serial ATA, SATA-1".

Disc 3 not found: Serial ATA, SATA-3

The attention!  Impossible to detect one or more drives during POST. »

BD - R discs, I can see changes in the color of die that the original file has probably been written to disk, but the problem is after this step.  Once I have restart Vista discs BD - R defective also show that they contain files and in, for example, ULead MovieFactory6 may be progressed throughout the process of 'close disc' but which are then struck with the message "this disc is unrecognizable.

    Any help is appreciated more.
