Disc not recognized when you try to install a program

OP: try to install the program

try to install the program "Family TreeMaker" and cd/dvd-rom does not recognize the disc. I tried to type in setup.exe at the beginning and still can not get the computer to recognize that there is a program disk in drive E:. It just keeps wanting to "burn" on a CD. What can I do? I tried to go to the Control Panel, tried to restart the computer with the disk in the drive. I have Vista home edition,

Hello dragonfly1814,

If the drive is not recognized, try and check if the drive works on another computer. If the computer still does not recognize the drive, the best idea would be to contact the manufacturer or seller to obtain a replacement CD-ROM.

You try to add data to a multisession CD - R or CD - RW in Windows Media Player 11?

If you attempt this task, this problem occurs because Windows Media Player 11 does not support multisession recording. You receive this message if the CD you are trying to record already contains data.

To resolve this problem, save the data to a new CD - R or CD - RW.

  • Hard drives not found when you try to install Windows Server 2008

    Hey guys and girls,

I've spent the last 20 hours, trying to solve the problem of not being able to install windows server 2008 r2 on a new Dell server.

    My configuration is:

    Dell PowerEdge R310

    4 x 1 TB 7.2 K SATA HDD

    Controller Raid PERC H700

I can't even install the drivers that I downloaded from the Dell support site because Windows Server 2008 Setup will not recognize them.  These factors include the Raid Controller, chipsets Intel, SATA etc.

I used the settings default, all changed the Auto Off Ports and vica versa, I put the server in Raid and ATA mode with all the possibilities, but it will be will not detect any HD!

Please help, as it is essential for my health, employment and mental health.

    Best regards

    Sami L.

What OS?  What RAID controller?  How many discs?  The size?  RAID level?

I can't assume that everything is the same, especially when you have a different system altogether which does not support the H700 (so the files would have been meaningless even if Dell had not broken links). :)

  • InstallShield interrupted when you try to install a program - 4 Help - on Vista Business 64-bit

I tried to reinstall 4 contribute from a file downloaded from Adobe. Whenever I try to install, I get a message saying that the "InstallShield Wizard has been interrupted and the program was not installed.  Please try again. "I deleted the folder InstallShield to start over, but I still get the same error message. I am doing this on a laptop with Vista for businesses. I tried to download the file and install it on my desktop running on XP, and installed without problem.

The problem, it's just on my laptop with Vista.  I tried to install with my disabled antivirus software, but has always failed.

I was on the phone with Adobe technical support, and so far they cannot understand it, although they say that contribute 4 is not supported on 64-bit Vista.  I find this strange because I ran Contribute on this notebook since July and only had problems recently (where the need to uninstall and reintall - who is at the beginning of my InstallShield problems).

Any suggestions?  I'm no expert, but I can follow simple instructions.

    Hi Donlas,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site.

    1. make sure that you have full administrative privileges on your computer

    2. of course no other applications (including antivirus software), facilities or processes are running in the background. A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. The following link has steps showing how to perform the clean boot. http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

    (1) perform the clean boot

    i. Click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

II. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

III. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

IV. click the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box and then click Disable all.

    v. click OK.

VI. When you are prompted, click on restart.

VII. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

    (2) enable half the services

    (3) determine whether the problem returns

    (4) enable half of the startup items

    (5) determine if the problem returns

    (6) repeat the steps above until you find out which program or service is causing the issue

After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

Note: Please make sure that the computer is configured to start as usual by following step 7 of article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 .

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (i) click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

(II) on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK

    3. check that two instances of the configuration are not running.

    a. press Ctrl + Alt + Delete.

    b. Select the Task Manager.

    c. Select the processes tab.

    d. search for _INSXXXX._MP. Where XXXX are numbers. If there are two similar (they are not the same) treats those currently running, select and click on end process.

    e. Select Yes to the dialog box implementation task manager warning.

4 run the installation locally by copying the files to be installed on your local hard drive.

    a. browser using Windows Explorer to the location the installation files. For example, if the installation is on a CD, go to the CD-ROM drive.

    b. copy the contents of the installation location.

    c. temporarily paste them into a directory on the local hard drive. For example, the desktop computer.

    d. run the install, setup.exe or install.exe file.

  • Error Code 1327 Invalid Drive Z:\ when you try to install a program

I found this solution to the question on the forum

    1. Check that the values under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders use valid drive letters.
    2. If there is no valid drive letters, change them to point to valid readers
    3. Try to install the software and check if that helps.

This method works.  I changed the references to the Z drive in the registry and I am able to install the program.

However, drive Z is not an invalid drive.  I have mapped a network drive to Z:\ and changed the place of My Documents, my music and my pictures in a folder on Z:\.

Am I destined to temporarily change my registry keys whenever I want to install or uninstall a program?  There must be a better solution.

I guess when you install a program, you get a UAC prompt to raise. This will switch you to another opening of session with a full administrator token. Information on mapped drives are specific to each logon when the high performance you do not see the drives mapped unelevated session.

It's quite complicated so, rather than give a long explanation, I suggest you watch the following presentation addresses this question in the section from 49 minutes. The mapped drives is discussed 53 minutes.

    http://Channel9.msdn.com/events/TechEd/NorthAmerica/2012/SIA311

I guess right here - try the drive mapping in a command prompt before starting the installation.

Or use the full name of the network in the folder redirection instead of the mapped drive letter

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/redirect-a-folder-to-a-new-location

Or let your user files in their default location and add folders to the network disk libraries

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/include-folders-in-a-library

Which of them is practical depends on the nature of the network drive.
