  I think that the whole operating system will be restored in a new virtual machine... I have it... The changes will have to be done in the file listener.ora (hostname or IPADDRESS and also PORT NO in case you want another port as the existing one). Once you have made the changes that you have to bounce the listener, I mean stop and start the listener... I don't think that any other changes are needed... Make sure that the same need for entries (from the listener) to be included in the TNSNAMES file. ORA file both client-side... The tns service is used to connect to the remote database server (from the demand side or whatever source you used to connect to the database server)... I just think that the change to do...   I defragmented the hard drives in the Server 2008 window, but I can't find how to defragment the virtual hard disk from VM. I thought that you could power off the virtual machine, change the settings of the virtual machine and choose defragment the hard drive of the virtual computer. However, I can't find this option.

  Is it possible to defragment a VM hard drive in vSphere Hypervisor 4? If yes how are you?

  Do you mean the SATA connector on the motherboard? Is it broken?
  Well, I'm don't think that its easy to fix. If something is broken on the motherboard, and then for the most part you will need a new motherboard or you would ask a specialist (electronics) for help.

  It seems to be a problem with the hardware. I suggest you try to uninstall and reinstall the CD/DVD driver and check if it helps.

  The GUI Server2 is not to choose the other unused vmnets.  Then edit your file VMX use a different vmnet of 0, 1 or 8.  (which are bridged, host-only and NAT)

  You can directly install the VMware tool configuration by copying the setting in the machine and manually install the same.

  Try VMware on another machine tool in which you will get the installation... Copies on disk and then move it to your new VM and do a manual configuration.

  I have a datasotre that is down and which contains a couple of virtual hard disks associated with virtual windows servers. Are not readers of operating system on servers, but they are readers previously configured windows backup (backup of the Server 2008 and 2003).
