Displacement of Vm data store on a hard drive and restore at a later date

Hello

I'm working on a newly created virtual environment that is used to create areas of base to be used in demonstrations for new businesses.

We have run out of disk space but need to urgently create new servers for a new demo. I would like to delete some exisinting VM from the data store on the hard drive of a computer in my office and then put them at the time where we have increased the disk space for the data store.

Please can anyone provide me with some step by step insturctions how to move the virtual machine on the store data and on my machines, and then the process to get back them.

Versions of the software appear in the attached file.

Thank you

Andy

There are several ways to achieve your goal.

In my opinion, the simplest is to use the browser of data store in the vSpere Client and download the VMs/folders.

    Ah! -in this case, it is not necessary.

    I see from my records that a similar case has been solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the update WAT - KB971033

    Open the Windows Update - click the link view updates installed on the left of the page

    in the list, find the WAT update KB971033, and then uninstall it.

    Then restart and reinstall the update from here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033

  • How to replace a laptop HARD drive and restore the backup without a Vista startup disk?

    Hello

    I need to replace the drive HARD internal of my laptop and have a picture of it, created using the backup feature in Vista, on an external USB HDD. However, I've upgraded to Vista XP via a download online and don't have a Vista disc.

    How can I create a Vista startup disk that will give access to the backup/restore function, which allowed me to restore my backup to the new HARD disk image once I did the replacement? And is there anything else I forget?

    Thanks in advance!

    Mike

    You can borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    It is General info how to make a Vista startup repair disk:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    See you soon.
  • Format hard drive and restore without CD?
    Hello. I have a Dell E510 with XP. For the life of me, I can't find the recovery disks. My computer does not update me programs such as Adobe Flash and AVG anti-virus. My guess is spyware/adware/virus - something of this nature, then I would do it again. My hard drive has some sort of partition, which I think has the system restore information. The problem is that I want to do a full format to destroy everything that is rampant in my system. Can anyone help? I spent 30 minutes, getting the runaround on Dell on call. My warranty missed so they continued to try to make me sign up again. Thanks in advance for your help. Gucker
  • Cancel an increase in data store on removable hard drive
    Hello, I was just wondering, but I was messing around trying to find the way on an empty stomach for manually copying the VM to a RDX removable hard drive and decided to try to increase the size of the data with the RDX hard disk store.  I was wondering if there is a way to cancel this increase in size of the data store.  When I remove the RDX drive, it gives me an error saying no data store has been created but still work in the VM.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Welcome to the community,
    I understand thi correctly. You have added the RDX as a measure for the data store local drive!
    There is no way to remove a measure. You will need to evacuate the data store (i.e. save virtual machines), remove the extended data store and create a new.
    Time Machine backup to a sparsebundle.
    The sparsebundle will use the share name of computer. So, it should be obvious who is your Macbook and that is your Macpro.
    Open the sparsebundle in Finder and keep open the subfolders until you get to the backup of each separate hard drive...
    You has of course set the exclusion in Time Machine?
    By default, Time Machine will exclude your second drive unless you have included it. Did you?
    Once you get to this level during the backup, you can do a full restore manually whenever you want.
    Redesign existing external hard disks and still 6 Lightroom able to find existing photos.
    I currently store my pictures on and an external hard drive.  Lightroom 6 was not able to find the picture momentarily files.  I inserted an external Flash DRIVE after removing the hard drive and the computer renamed the stick with the same drive letter that has been designated by Lightroom to store my photos.  I could go into my Windows 10 and reset the player to the letter that Lightroom has given at the beginning of the external hard drive.   However, I know this can happen again, if I connect any stick USD or another device, while the external hard drive is not connected to my laptop.   I found the information that I can do the new designation of the final drive by choosing a letter it is 1/2 way or higher in the alphabet.   I would like to turn an external hard drive on a strong letter, warns we hope this previous problem.   My question is, if I already have a lot of pictures on this external hardrive with the designation of the current drive, how it becomes a higher letter and have 6 Lightroom recognizes files, now under the new designation of drive letter without having to go to each photo individually and manually force Lightroom 6 find each photo.  It would take more time than I'd like to lose.  Is there a way to get just 6 Lightroom to recognize the new disk designation has changed and is able to find all of the existing files?
    I have read the ADOBE LightRoom 6 manual and seem not to be able to find anything on how to do it.
    Any help would be welcome.
    Thank you!
    So in Windows, you can select a drive like q letter (or any other letter you want only towards the end of the alphabet)
    Then in Lightroom, you can reconnect to the photos on q: the following instructions (see specifically 4 Figure and related text)
  • Formatting the main HARD drive and do a fresh install of the OS
    Hi guys,.
    I have a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro running Yosemite (10.10.2). I did not care on the data management since the day that I bought and now it's all over the place and a lot of unwanted files. I have backups time machine the main hard drive and I also backed up all important data on a separate hard drive.
    My question is, is it possible that I can erase my entire hard drive and reinstall Yosemite (10.10.2)? The last time I tried to do this, my MacBook connected to the server and installed the latest OS (I guess it was time Cougar 10.8.4).) I don't want to update the OS because my Audio Interface has no drivers for what after 10.10.2.
    I don't like on the data loss that I have multiple backups of all the files of important work, as well as backups time machine of the disk set. Thus, formatting everything is completely fine with me.
    Thank you!
    The only ways I know to reinstall 10.10.2 are:
    • You have the initial download of 10.10 after Yosemite went out and created a USB this version thumb drive Installer. If so, you can start Setup from USB, delete your Macintosh HD, install 10.10 and after 10.10 is installed, you can download and run the 10.10.2 Combo Update to bring it up to 10.10.2.
    • You have the 10.10.2 download after this version has been published and have created a USB this version thumb drive Installer. If so, you can start Setup from USB, wipe your hard drive Macintosh and install 10.10.2.
    If you can't do or any of the foregoing, all what you can do then is start Recovery HD and install the latest version of Yosemite, which is 10.10.5. Even if the HD recovery may appear 10.10.2,"limited you will always get the most recent version of Yosemite. Without either of the above, there is no way that I know how to install an earlier version of Yosemite. Maybe you could ask a local Apple Store to see if they have a solution for 10.10.2.
  • Help with Hard Drive and registry
    Hey, it kinda turns out to be a long and difficult history, but I recently had a small problem that spread to a problem much bigger (and catastrophic).
    I had a problem with freezxing on my laptop (HP Pavilion Dv5 with the 64-bit version of Vista I think). I've tried a few things m ais it froze just in case. Finally I found someone who said they ran a registry cleaning program and that did the trick. I tried and I had no more freezing. Unfortunately, I connected an external hard drive and all hell broke loose. It froze and I turned off the laptop. I have it turned on and was greeted with this message:
    STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
    The Session Manager failed to create protected prefixes system process terminate
    d unexpectedly with a status of 0x000003a (0x00000000 0x00000000).
    The system has been shut down.
    I tried to boot in safe mode and found:
    STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
    The registry cannot load the hive (file):\SystemRoot\system32\config\SOFTWARE or its log alternative.
    It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.
    Then, she went and made the collection of data, and that was all. After that, I tried the boot recovery option and that never worked. I searched internet and found a few people with similar, but never the same questions. Someone, somewhere, says something about execution of system restore after having access to the menu by pressing F8 at startup. I tried. It did not work. I pressed F8 at startup upward and chose the first option. It has established a list of things to try. System Restore (and other options such as checking memory and bring up the command prompt) did not work because the C drive has been used. Large. I tried to use the disks that came with my laptop and I never once found while they were actually useful because I could never the laptop to run.
    Now, I wanted to try to use the command prompt. Never really had a chance. Now, when I start the computer I'm greeted by the inspiring message of hard drive are not.
    Sweet. Now, I'm a little stuck on what to try. I tried to reset the BIOS defaults and nada. I have no idea what it must try now and would love to help anyone.
    I would be very happy and I thank you for your time.
    It depends on how much you have to pay to get the new hard drive installed and running. Get a quote for a computer shop trust you.  So I think that if the computer has been done what you wanted to do before he went wrong.  If it was enough for you and the price of the repair is not too high (maybe less), I would. If the price is more than $ 200, I would start thinking about applying your money towards a new laptop computer, but that cheaper isn't always the best deal.  Do some research and try some mobile friends to see if it is fast enough for you and you enjoy the feeling. Stop in some stores that display laptops and taste. Laptops with dedicated video card memory will do better with the games.  If the games are starting to become important to you, consider a desktop computer instead of a laptop where you can buy a killer video card. I like the new Ivy bridge to intel for laptops so look for it.  This is the new family of Intel processors. I7 Ivy bridge is the finest, then the i5, then the i3.  You really need to sit with someone who knows computers and discuss your needs for the future and how you want to use your computer.
