Display driver stopped responding

Suddenly my laptop Toshibia is getting the message that my display driver stopped responding.  This is a fairly new computer and I just had a new hard drive put the same problem when he died 7 months ago.  Now he's doing the same thing it means once again I need a new hard drive?

Here is the message I get Display Driver NVIDIA Windows kernel mode Driver, Version 189.88 stopped responding and has successfully recovered.  My screen goes black for a few seconds and then comes back with this message.  Time and frequency black lengthens and it's happening more often.

Any suggestions?

    It happens every time I try to play a video on YouTube. The audio, but the video does not appear. My laptop slow for a few seconds then screen goes black then back to normal and the notification "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" is displayed. Even after that, there is no game even if the sound is not still a Visual.

    Since I bought the laptop, I had a problem with the display driver.
    The screen maintains the blackout and comes back once a second with the massage of display driver stopped responding and has recovered, I wish that I can attach a screenshot. The laptop has nVidia on her card.

    The dealer replaced it for me, but even with the new, he comes every day once or twice

    It's my 1st Toshiba, I've always heard they are good, but now I'm kind of confused!

    Someone had this problem and could solve it? Help, please.

    Note: I've updated all the drivers.

    Hello

    This error message may appear due to the graphics card driver failure.
    I read on a question also on different Web pages and to be honest, it s not question for laptop

    This may happen due to some problems of compatibility between the driver and software that runs on the laptop. Usually a driver update would help, but if the question seems always so you should check whether a BIOS update and a new OS installation would improve the functionality of the laptop.

    I read also some guys tried the 3-page third-party graphics card drivers and this could help what to say you can try to install a driver from nVidia but this can be done only at your peril because as much as I know non-Toshiba drivers are not supported by Toshiba.

  • Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

    Product: HP Pavilion dv7-6015tx Entertainment Notebook PC

    OS: Windows 7 32-bit

    Status: Clean installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 - bit Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

    Hello

    I had several cases where the computer seems 'lag '.

    then, after a few flickers on my screen, Windows would give the error:

    "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered."

    There are still effects after this message.

    When dragging windows, scrolling top-down graphics etc. continue to Flash.

    This isn't all in hardcore, the GPU was not operating at high temperatures.

    Interestingly, I don't have this problem when I'm in the middle of hardcore games.

    The CPU was not under heavy load, the CPU was not working at high temperatures either.

    I checked the temperature with thermal control (HWiNFO32).

    I have a lot of resources, 1223MB of RAM to spare.

    I also have lots of HARD disk space too.

    I installed the latest version of the graphics driver for my product: AMD graphics driver high definition,.

    but the problem persists.

    Help, please!

    -John

    I understand your frustration, I had the same problem, I really did, for centuries!

    Try this:

    Do not go on the AMD website for a video driver. those who do not work properly for some reason any...

    Download on the HP site specific to your HP product, for example, I have a dv7 6015tx with 32-bit windows.

    Then I'd go to: dv7-6015tx drivers

    If you still have the drivers on AMD ATI Web site, uninstall them, restart.

    Go to the HP site where you can find specific drivers for your product HP, installation, restart.

    It seems trivial, but it's IMPORTANT and most of the time to restart after uninstalling and installing.

    It worked for me, hopefully it will erase your questions, good luck.

  • Satellite A500 - display driver stopped responding

    Hello

    3 weeks ago, I bought a brand new Toshiba A500. I post here because I found no useful solution.
    Here are the specs:

    Processor: intel core i3 M330 2.13 GHz
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (1024 MB)
    Hard drive: MJA2320BH G2 (320 GB, 5400 RPM, SATA-II)
    RAM: 2 X 2 GB DDR3 - 1066 DDR3 SDRAM (7-7-7-20 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-18 @ 457 MHz)
    Audio: Realtek ALC272 @ Intel Ibex Peak PCH
    System: Windows 7 64-bit, made at Toshiba

    The question is: random situations, the screen is in turn black for a few seconds, then the message is pop up saying "display driver stopped responding and has recovered - display driver NVIDIA Kernel Mode Driver, Version 187.98 stopped responding and has successfully recovered" It happens several times a day.

    Display driver sometimes can not be recovered and the system hangs and must be reset. Problem occur on the first day after five minutes of use (when it was not install anything without OS).

    Problem always occurs during normal operation with applications (MS office, firefox, etc.). It's completely random - there are no two the same situations - so when I look at youtube on full screen hd movies it crashes several times, but when I restart the OS and to play the same movie, it works properly.

    Causes of demand, this problem is called TDR (timeout detection and recovery).
    This application GPU reset when get failed for 2 sec. But in a register of Windows7 have entered controlled this application.

    Since I tried following solutions:
    -Updated BIOS.
    -System of resettlement;
    -Display driver update to version 197.16;
    -Check the temperature on the graphics card (when the problem occurs on the graphics card temperature does not exceed 47deg and 36deg processor);
    -Java Update (old version of can of Java causes some device problems);
    -Updated adobe (even Java);
    -Disable aero;
    -Updates of Windows 7;
    -Disable audio (realtek card);

    None of them works.

    The problem occurs during the games (i.ex. The Witcher). I can play 8 hours and nothing weird happens.
    I noticed that this problem occurs also during opening some applications or enter new tasks (when demand for energy is growing rapidly).

    I'm asking this is a driver problem or should I return the laptop to the service.
    I suspect that the problem may be large difference of voltage on the graphics card but I can not verified that.

    If anyone has experience this problem, I'd appreciate any help.

    Hello

    My problem is that, for the fourth time, the screen went black and then recovered and I get the message "display driver stopped responding and was retrieved successfully." My graphics card is Nvidia GeForce 330.

    I'd appreciate it if anyone knows what to do to fix this

    Hello

    Looks like the graphics card driver crashed for no apparent reason.
    Have you tried to reinstall the graphics driver?

    To do this.
    Visit the page of European Toshiba driver and download the driver for this model of laptop. Update the driver and restart the device.

    It would be interesting to know if it would help.

  • Pavilion 6154ea: Radeon display error - display driver stopped responding and has recovered

    Received a UN expected error in the web search, actully screen off for a few seconds before receiving an error on the display driver stopped responding and recovery.

    Took a glance in the peripheral section where the 2nd adapter displays without any sign of error.

    After recently installing a new SDS moving from the HARD drive, reinstall windows 7 etc via the updates and the order to make recovery disc the laptop because I used receive a blue screen error frequently, so that the display driver does not not error occasionally when using the design programs.  Therefore assumed, needed a new HDD/SSD and factory restore.

    -Laptop computer has been cleaned withdrawal because keyboard, frame etc. with solvents as a cleaner. Therefore cannot be over heating the fan works hard to due and SSD.

    -Power supply has been connected to the time

    N ' was not overclocked as it is when using disk HARD aswell

    It wasn't until today where it happened again, without the blue screen though. So decided I would look at him and realized it is a common problem with the ATI drivers, when I assumed it was a HARD drive failure all along.

    This time the screen turned off for a few seconds, more then previously which is a little disturbing. Was only using a search engine with no program in the background. Infact havn't got round to reinstall files and software so the laptop is very clean and basic and works so don't know why I feel this fast.

    Need to know your opinion on this please, may not know... (Radeon HD 6490M)

    Hi @skibbles,

    Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

    I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question in the subject of your HP Pavilion dv7-6154ea Entertainment Notebook and problems with the display driver stopped responding. I recommend to restore the default BIOS settings. You could restore the BIOS with this document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings. This resets the hardware parameters and contributed to others.

  • HP DV7-12xx - display driver stopped responding

    Model: HP DV7-1232nr

    System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

    This laptop was having overheating problems when I got it. I have attached a platform of double USB fan led to her and which has helped considerably. I keep a temperature monitor runs in the background to alert me when time pass through more than 90 C.  In general, with navigation average and no video, I can stay between 70 ° c - 80 c.

    I had done a few things administrative for the laptop, including a full defragmentation and update to the latest version of the BIOS (F49) because I upgraded the OS from Vista to Windows 7 (expected an improvement).

    Everything was going well for several days until that I installed the latest ATI Catalyst Control Center.  Then that's when things started badly, but it may be a coincidence.  I noticed that when I started the laptop and it runs pretty cool, I would get these UI freezes, then "display driver stopped responding but has recovered" type of messages.  They would like to happen every 60 seconds or more.  HOWEVER, the laptop once warmed up, they would stop.  This has become particularly sensitive when I first start the laptop in the morning.

    I thought it's maybe some kind of problem with the ATI CCC, so I tried to uninstall it but then ran into all sorts of errors - he refused to be removed from my system.  I had to manually get it (edit, painfully long registry).  In any case, the driver earlier that I could come back was the "current" available on HP... and installation that it resulted in the same matter; This display driver problem when the laptop runs cool.

    It is ironic. Problems occur usually when a computer overheats, not when it's cold!

    So... is it software or hardware?

    I have a Linux (Ubuntu) partition, which worked perfectly well.  I booted up into that and... low and behold, I would periodically go into lock up, especially when the laptop is cold.  But this was not always the case.  When I first got the laptop and reformatted, it was fine, any time.

    I'm still not sure if it's hardware or software.  My thought is... was there any question recorded with BIOS F49?  I heard that some underlying problems can trigger problem display driver, which means that there is really nothing to do with video drivers.

    I've also run a full CHKDSK and a Piriform Defraggler disk check and it extracted a - OK... even though the hard drive suffered some sectors failed previously that were much more early on avoided with a complete reformat.

    QUESTIONS RELATING TO THE:

    * If it is a software problem, what are the recommendations?

    * If it is a possible hardware problem, is it possible to prevent the problem or am that I confronted to a replacement of the motherboard or just wait that the laptop "heated" enough before using it?

    CHANGE!

    Well... I thought that the laptop was fine when it is hot, but this display driver doesn't answer more question arises again while I was typing this message (Mobile CPU at 66).  But it happens now, after running for about 30 minutes of hot.  Then... material can get which is flaky? I thought that it's usually an all or nothing with the material (works or does not work), and that the software drivers, commissioning of all sorts of scenarios of data different throughout the usage would be more suspect for intermittent failure.  Is there a video driver DEFAULT Microsoft I could replace to exclude drivers ATI?

    Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

    "If you keep an open mind, life will give you more opportunities."

    It's certainly plausible. I have not heard of questions with a mosfet specifically, but this issue certainly seems to be motherboard related. There are "companies" out there that repair card mother offer, but it may be more cost-effective to buy a new motherboard.

    You can also try to use a Map of Test Post if you have one or can borrow one. I don't like to think about buying something, unless I know it will solve the problem, but if the computers are a hobby for you, Test Post cards are a very handy to have around. If you decide to get one, look at the comments and make sure that he has the right connections to be used with your computer.

  • Spectrum 360: Display driver stopped responding and recovered - spectrum 360

    Just in case someone is looking for a (kind of) solution to this problem:

    Location:

    -New spectrum x 360, came loaded with Windows 10. All updates (Windows and Intel and HP) made.

    -When you scroll websites with Firefox, the computer hangs for about 5 seconds, you get the message "display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver intel HD Graphics Drivers for Windows 8 (R) answers more and was successfully'

    -Open the browser windows are black, but can be restored by reducing to a minimum then them openeing again

    -Sometimes on a variety of Web sites. EBay seems one need to reproduce, but this can be linked to the amount of scrolling rather than any specific web content. Scroll through the eBay ads I get it about every thirty seconds

    I guess it's a driver problem, possibly wait a version 10 of Windows. The solution for now is to use the browser of Microsoft Edge.

    In Firefox, go to options, then Advanced tab then general uncheck the use hardware acceleration

  • Display driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered

    Hello

    Yes, I know, there are discussions and topics about this problem here, but I read some of them and none of them helped me to solve my problem.

    motherboard: gigabyte p55-usb3

    VGA: sapphire radeon hd5850 toxic

    RAM: geil 2 * 2 GB ddr3 1333

    Ok. When I go to apply 3d in win 7 64 bit, after a few minutes, the screen freezes and the program crashes and I get this:

    «"" driver AMD display driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered.»»» » »

    I had this soccer10, assassins creed 2, crysis warhead, benchmark of sky, nba 2 k 10, etc.

    things, I did and did not help: I reinstalled programs, reinstalled windows, all drivers updated, update the bios of the motherboard and vga, windows update, checked the hardware, cooling systems, etc...

    I know it seems like a hardware problem, but since I don't get it in win XP, I think it's a windows problem. See, I played assassins creed 2 on higher graphics options (60 fps) for many hours, I have same finieshed crysis warhead with keen twice under XP. No problem.

    but in win7, I always have this error even in circles low, and when the vga is 40 to 50 degrees Celsius.
