  I checked the reported compatibility list, and the game is listed as compatible.  Work in 64-bit or 32-bit Windows 7?  I will try to reinstall the game, if you did an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 recently.  If it is a new installation and does not, please visit the EA's Web site to get the latest patch for the game to see if that helps address your problem.  Let me know if you've done all that and you still have questions, and we can try something else.

  I've been reluctant to use these registry cleaners too but had no choice. They well with basic cleaning after uninstall. It is heartbreaking how reckless SSII is during the cleaning of the registry during the uninstallation of their software. And some of the best cleansers will warn you if a fix is dangerous or not you can not run it. But what sometimes happens is that vacuuming can cause two problems for everyone that it fixes if you aren't careful.

• Windows 7 error: "5487992.exe has stopped working".

  I have a Windows 7 machine and I started getting the following message: "5487992.exe has stopped working". The computer will function normally after you close the error for about 5 minutes, how the machine gets to the login screen.   The causes of .exe error messages can vary considerably. However, most of the .exe errors result from a corrupted or damaged file ntdll.dll version itself, corrupt hardware drivers, or issues between Windows and other programs.

  I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

  Method 1:

  Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

  This can be found in:

  I use Satellite A300D with Vista and I tried to upgrade to Windows 7 using Toshiba upgrader.
