Display of pixelated when playing games or videos

Hi all

Recently I bought lenovo w540, known to be one of the badest machines there.it provided with windows 8 pro and after a few days I've updated to 8.1 and since then Ive had problems many every day, after that solving most of them there is another one which I can't fix or even come close to this. Every time I'm playing games, or play videos, or use my 3dsmax 3d software, everything it slightly pixelated especially in the darkest parts of a figure or a video, I see very clearly separate tones of gray turn into black.its heartbreak once uve paid a lot for a machine. However, Ive updated all my drivers tried all to do right, but it does not work. Please tel me what to do. Oh ive has also restored my laptop back to windows 8, but nothing has been fixed.please help! Also, I should add, there is no pixelation when m using normal windows interface as in icons and stuff of paper painted everything is fine but when I play videos ot games and 3d software, he's just desperate. Here's the perfect image, I might take to explain what is happening!

Hello Alexia.

Thanks for posting your question on the forum of the Microsoft community.

I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

You made any hardware or software changes on your computer before the show?

This problem may occur if the settings or device drivers are corrupt.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1:
Set the screen resolution and other display settings and check the issue.
Refer to this article:
Get the best display on your monitor
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/get-best-display-monitor

If this does not help, use method 2.

Method 2:
I understand that you have updated all the drivers. However, I'd suggest a update the drivers for the chipset of this link:
http://download.Lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/glrg12ww.exe

In addition, please updated graphics from this link driver:

Can you please tell us what drivers have updated you and why? What was wrong with the old drivers?

When you start your next portable speakers test time using preinstalled Toshiba diagnostic tool and post the result here.

What about the temperature of the laptop. 80 c is high temperature but still not critical, and if your mobile phone is placed correctly on the desktop and the cooling fans are not blocked I think you can continue to play the games.
Before the games close all unnecessary applications and uses laptop computer on power plan to high performance.

  • Satellite Pro M70 overheating when playing games or watching DVDs

    Hello world

my laptop (Satellite Pro M70) overheating regularly, especially when playing games or watching DVDs.
Initially the cooling gets really hard, then the laptop would become hot, and shortly after that it stops completely. I ran it about 50% cpu power (DVD mode) for some time, which helps a little, but makes it much slower games.

I do not know whence this problem, you have any ideas what I could do?

Don't know if it's important, my graphics chip is the ATI Mobility Radeon X 700.

    Thanks in advance

    > My laptop (Satellite Pro M70) is overheating regularly himself, especially when playing games or watching DVDs.
Still is it playing games and watching DVD movies to emphasize material for portable computers.
Devices such as the CPU and GPU run with maximum efficiency and produce a lot of heat.
This could lead to problems of overheating, especially if the cooling modules n t work properly.

    > I do not know whence this problem; you have any ideas what I could do?
I think that the cooling modules don't cool the laptop properly because fans could not run with maximum efficiency because of the dust and debris.

The same thing happened to me. I just cleaned the vents using a jet of compressed air. This jet of compressed air can be ordered from different computer resellers and it s a professional tool to perform this cleanup.

I think you should test this.

    Good luck

  • Qosmio X 300-13 L - display shuts down while playing games

    Hey guys,.

I really hope you can help me with my problem. I had a problem with my video card so I sent to an ASP called RTS in Germany. They corrected this problem, but after I got my laptop, a new problem appeard.

While playing games, the screen turns black, but everything else works still for about a minute then the system stops. I tried to reset the settings of the BIOS, read in many forums, but nothing helps so far. The problem appreas often during the game World of Warcraft, but since yesterday, it seems less often while playing Leauge of Legends. It is unpossible to use the Qosmio to play with this problem, because I can't recognize any model in this :( I went 2 months of Vista to Windows 7 and the problem appeard only on Windows 7.

If you need more information or something, tell me and I'll give them to you as soon as possible...

    Thank you!

    Hi byakuya.

If the problem appears only on Windows7 there must be a problem with your installation of Windows 7. Maybe you use the old drivers or wrong or a software causes this problem.

The more interesting point right now is your display driver. 3rd display driver part of Nvidia directly don't have protection against overheating and can cause problems. In my opinion, you must install the driver Toshiba last and official version. It should work I hope

  • PC restarts only when playing games :(

I was faced with this situation like 2 months ago and I think its gpu overheating I checked the temperature is 95 + the BCCode is 113

    And my features are

    Windows 7 Professional x 64 bit

    2 GB of Ram [1 x 1]

NVIDIA 8400GS 1 GB [I know its really old, but there's a solution to solve this]

Intel E7500 2.93 Ghz Core Duo

Power supply - 450 Watt [I usually before 300 that I upgraded to 450 thinking he could fix but didn't]

So pls help and answer the question, I hope you know these problems

Yes - we know these problems.

95 + what... (Too hot) Celsius or Fahrenheit (not too hot).

To do this, then we can see what you have and eventually eliminate the cycles of message:

Click on the button/ORB start in the lower left corner of your screen. Or, press the button of your keyboard Windows logo.

    In the type box:

    Msinfo32

Select / click msinfo32.exe and the system information dialog box opens.

Click System summary, click on edit, select all (Ctrl-A), copy (Ctrl-C) and then paste (Ctrl-V) the information back here in your next reply.

For information about video drivers, expand components, click view, click on edit, select all (Ctrl-A), copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) feedback here.

There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and anything that turns information private for you, simply delete the pasted information.

In case it is NOT a temperature related problem you must configure your system to generate a dump of crash for analysis file so anyone can analyze the result.

    Here's how:

On your desktop right click on advanced computer, system settings properties and make them look like this:

There is no need to create the Minidump folder as window will create one if it takes.

Then click OK, enough times to close all dialog boxes and restart your system for the changes to take effect.  After that restart, you can go back and check the new settings to make sure the adjustments 'stick '.

There are a lot of temp monitoring programs.

Some people like the free version of Speccy you can download here:

    https://www.Piriform.com/Speccy

A good thing is when you launch it, then cut it, it will continue to show you the temp in the Windows System Tray/Notification area near the clock:

Take note of the temperature when you are not playing games, so you can have a base line.

Then play your game and see if you can recreate the problem of crash while monitoring the temp to see how hot things get before the crash (may take once or twice).

  • Get an Access Violation error when playing games

    OP: Access Violation errors!

I have download games on a game site that I trust and don't usually have problems. In the last 4 months, some of the new games that I downloaded and tried to play, give me the Access Violation error when I try to open the game to play the demo. Now just recently I noticed that several of my games that I bought and played for months, give me also Access Violation errors. I worked on it for months with people in customer service (on the site of games) and have not solved. The strange thing is, I can play some of these games on different websites without any problems or Violations of access at all. Yet the customer service people keep trying to 'fix' my computer, as if it were from my computer something to make this happen. At this point, I'm so frustrated that I had to try to get you all to see if anyone has experience this problem before and/or solved this kind of case before. I tried to turn off my Norton before download and play without success. I've updated everything that could be updated in regards to drivers, and such go.
My system is Vista 32 bit, IE8, Norton Security and anti-virus.  Thanks for any help!

    Hello saund477,

My research, I find that it is a known problem with Big fish games. I also see that some users were able to solve this problem and play games by disabling the antivirus program on their computer.

I suggest that you turn off the Anti Virus program and check if you are able to play the game.

Note: Please make sure that you enable the antivirus software after the test to keep your computer protected.

You can refer to the thread below that I found that the forum of Big fish:

I also suggest that you post your question to the Bigfish forum for a better answer to this question, because the problem is only with Bigfish games:

About the error when you try to run the command, it seems that you type the command correctly, make sure that you type the command correctly.

  • Display crashes, EXCEPT when the games

Comprehensive have searched the net for my problem and I have not found a solution that works. My display driver crashes randomly when surfing the web. My screen turns off, but the computer still works, I know because I always hear people in video chat and youtube videos. The only way I can prevent that from happening is to launch a game. If I don't play a game crash. I can also minimize a game to the taskbar and not crash. I thought that if I adjusted the tension on my graphics card it would keep happening, but unfortunately after trying several times it does not work. I'm initially thought it was my graphics card, but have since passed on the old card and have the same problem. I also tried to disable all the services. Updated my motherboard Bios. Graphics drivers updated, restored drivers graphics. Tested my ram and checked my power options in Control Panel.

    My system:
    Core 2 Quad 9550 Q
    Motherboard Asus Rampage Formula
    8 GB kingston hyper x ram cl5
    Gigabyte Radeon R7 260 X graphics card
    Windows 7 ultimate
