  I bought my laptop a few weeks ago, tried Vista on it for about 2 weeks but decided to change the operating system to my old XP because I did not like that Vista has taken to much power. (Like playing a game from time to time)

  Anyway, the installation went well and I checked the installation instructions on the home page of Toshibas and installed everything that was needed. I also installed the audio driver.

  After the restart there is no sound so I started, I was wondering what could be wrong. Called support and he told me to install 'Virtual Sound. The problem when I install was that I get an error message telling me that my computer do not support virtual sound.

  So my question is: is this the problem? Not getting is not the virtual sound installed or should it works even without virtual sound? It gets boring without sound and I want it to work. Anyone got any ideas what to do?

  The European driver Toshiba page does not include any virtual sound utility for this laptop Equium A100 PSAAB!
  In my opinion it of not good. You n t need to install this utility.

  I checked the Toshiba page and choose your notebook series PSAAB. I found a lot of XP drivers!
  There are also 2 different audio drivers; 5.10.0.5200 Realtek and Realtek 5.10.0.5253.
  Check both!

  I see that the reference page offers different upgrades of MS QFEs. You must install all!
  Sometimes these update of MS are important and necessary to solve some problems.

  PS; Please install all the drivers in the order mentioned in the Installation Instructions

  I just bought then produced "give power adapter for laptop with USB power Port.
  It says its compatible with Toshiba, but I was wondering if it worked with the satellite A100-147.

  Any help would be great cos I must take back or open it, he can't go back after opening.

  I don t know if this 3rd party adapter is compatible with your laptop, but I know that the Equium A100 needs adapter that supports 15V 6a 90W and this E/PA2521U-2ACA AC adapter would be compatible and supported by this specification.

• Display on Equium A100-147 issues

  Recently, I used the restore disk to restart my computer when I installed a new HARD drive. Since loading the graphic chipset driver intel office in win XP THAT will be displayed in the left hand of the screen. I can't find anywhere how to tell him to stretch the image across the width.

  I tried the latest drivers from Toshiba and updated the bios, just in case. He is also the first start, IE as soon as voltage. Is there something I am missing in the configuration or is - this fault with graphics chip/driver?

  If you use media restoration (recovery) all the necessary drivers are there and if all the hardware components are not defective, everything should be OK. I don't think that you are missing something. In my opinion, something's wrong with screen or graphics card.
  Try connecting the external monitor and test what it looks like if you switch to an external monitor only. If the problem persists it is because of the faulty graphics card.

  The switch to internal and external display or the display on the external monitor will simply disabled.

  I had a recurring injury that have begun to appear immediately after a Windows update Auto + reboot.
  Stutters sound on the PC (on any application) and is very nervous and the PC starts and runs very slowly.
  Anti-Virus Protection of Norton Protection Auto turns red (not sure of how it is important).

  Apparently, this American a not uncommon problem, but alas, I still have to find a thread that solves it.

  The way I used to work around the problem was to do a restore to an earlier date - which seemed to fix the problem for a few weeks.
  The problem started the summer and one for an update around October time, I found a restore wouldn't simply clear the problem.

  I have to adopted many solutions/suggestions as possible - sorting on the start-up procedure (MSCONFIG), the temptation of power, completely caught Norton off the coast (not), topped up audio drivers, re-flashed the bios...

  However, I am convinced the problem is with windows - when the PC starts I get really nervous sound on the windows welcome jingle - it comes before anything else does - looks like something is in the running.

  The PC was fine before that, I ran all the checks hardware/memory and all seem to work well.

  Hi, I wonder if someone could help me...
  I have an Equium A100 PSAABE model and you cannot view all the graphics of a game I recently bought (Far Cry).

  I play the same game on my old Satellite M70 but with a very good ATI graphics card and in my case, it works well. I'm not 100% sure but I think the graphics card on your satellite is Intel (shared memory). Am I wrong?

  I have a new Equium A100-306 and I try to install two different Linux distributions:
  10.1 (x86_64) SUSE and BlueWhite64, but in both cases, I met the same problem:

  I have exactly the same problem on my Equium A100-338 loaded with Vista.
  The display has stopped working (he went to a poorly lit black screen) after I had rebooted my machine even if the computer and the hard drive seems to work Ok with the lights on.   I have a Toshiba Equium A100-147. When I turn, I see as the light of the maximum but there is no display on the screen.
  I read on a previous thread on a similar model that this has been fixed by resetting the computer.
  I understand there is a possibility that there is a problem with the motherboard, but I remain optimistic that a manual-reset would work.

  You can try this procedure simple and short;

  -Remove the battery from the laptop
  -disconnect 3rd external devices and adapter
  -leave the laptop for about 20-30 min
  -then reconnect battery and AC adapter

  If the portable fuel after this procedure, then your have a serious hardware problem and only the ASP can help you.

  I don t want to make a statement on the possible faults, because it of always hard to say what's wrong exactly, but it looks a bit like a motherboard problem.

  I have a bit of a problem, I can not solve my self.
  I have a toshiba Equium A100 549 and changed operating system from XP home to XP home NL UK.
  I did format all HARD disks because of Mayor virus problems.

  I reinstalled all the cd drivers Toshiba but stil some of the keys on the keyboard do not work good...
  I noticed that some of the keys are on different locations like on a Dutch keyboard.

  I woul want to set them like they belong on the way in which toshiba set them, with the same 3min.from on the keys...

  The point is that you have installed windows OS in the language of the Netherlands, but the laptop uses the UK keyboard layout.
  Therefore, change to a different language keyboard layout if the keyboard is set to the language of the Netherlands, then you should change this to English UK!

  Go to control panel-> regional and Language Options-> languages-> text services and input languages tab, click details

• Equium A100-338 - battery power problem

  My daughter has an Equium A100-338 bought England under Vista Home Premium 15 months ago. He has recently developed a problem with the battery life, which in theory should mean the replacement of the battery, but I'm not so sure!

  The battery quickly descends to say 80% 6 minutes remaining, about 20 minutes after a full charge. Then put it in charge that it retrieves to 100% in about 20 minutes. The notebook gets rather warm below, but I think it's probably normal, that old equium of my other daughter gets warm anyway.

  Someone has encountered this problem, or is it just that he needs a new battery? I would have thought that it would have lasted longer, the other Equium battery is still going strong and is one year more!

  Hmm I think that you battery is not dead and can be used much longer than you think.

  I see that you have Vista on your laptop. This OS needs more resources for laptop as the Win XP for example. This would mean that laptops preinstalled Vista would be shorter on the battery as the laptop with Windows XP.

  Finally, and especially the battery working time is highly dependent on the use of the laptop.
