Distributed replication of file system between servers with different performances

If the published file system replication is set between servers with different performances. What will happen with the fastest server performance? The performance will shrink to match the performance of the server in the slower string?

  • File system (SFC.exe) with source Checker non-XP/SP3 CD

    Using the suggestion of MIRA1128, I ran (SFC.exe) System File Checker an administrator command window. The scanner has asked me for the CD of XP/SP3 to recreate the DLL cache. I'm at SP3 level via downloads.

    My disks are an earlier version. The scanner will not accept the previous CDs. How can I provide the SP3 DLL library, when I have SP3 source?

    I'm under Win/XP.  SP3 is installed and all the other updates proposed such suggested by Windows Update.

    The question is possible corruption of some system files.  I have a few BSOD stops.  0x1000008E or 0x100000A0.  The module list shows watchdog.sys in order that led to the judgment.  This usually happens after a stall; I'm guessing that the watchdog is just a timeout to something that must be completed, but did not.

    And there is your problem. :-)
    As a general rule, you should never install updated material optional every time that Windows Update offers them. (And in fact, optional software updates are almost always to be avoided as well.) But it really looks like one of these updates of material (pilot) completely borked your system. Pilots should be that the hardware manufacturer. End of discussion!
    Take a look at this thread:
    Roll back to the previous driver for your card graphic will probably fix you up. Or you can visit the Web site of graphics card manufacturer and download (and install later) the driver proper. This page should help you get started:
    EDIT:
    This should do it:
    Note there is a new beta driver (290.53 beta), but you should probably stay away from beta.
  • How to update AND move between platforms with different Endians...?

    Hi all

    I have two databases - a 500 GB - and the other 50 GB running on 10.2.0.4 on AIX 64-bit. They are Production systems.

    I have to move them to a new Linux (RHEL 5.6 - 64-bit) server that will run 11.2.0.2.

    For the test, I'm OK with what is done with Data Pump. But for the passage be made to the "new Prod", this will result in the value of the hours of downtime and it is a critical system, so I will try to mitigate that as much as I can.

    Naively, I was hoping to use RMAN to both move the databases from one box to the other, but also to upgrade. I say to myself that I would do the following (as directed by Metalink 369644.1) I have a catalog of recovery, etc, etc:

    Install the binaries on the server of new Prod
    Connect to the RCAT, and restore the database and recovery of a pit
    To upgrade the database manually by putting the DB in the UPGRADE to STARTUP and running of the catupgrd.sql

    Unfortunately, I didn't know that the Endian differed between AIX and RHEL (according to 1079563.1). Oops.

    It's not like I'll be able to use Transportable Tablespaces (according to 243304.1) or without having first to migrate the data through a 10 DB g and then upgrade.

    So my options seem to be:
    (a) data pump and suck the failure
    (b) move the portable data using Tablespaces to 10.2.0.4 and then switch to 11.2.0.2.

    Are there other options? I hope that a logical standby would work in this case to the rolling upgrade, but suspect that the different o/s AND the different Endian would sabotage the idea...

    Mark

    Maybe, I have more experience using concurrent export/import using the traditional exp/imp utility that using the parallel option on expdp/impdp. One thing you can do with exp/imp you can't do with expdp/impdp is export to a named pipe, start a remove copy channel named on the new server and then start the import from the channel named on the new server so that you import all still exporting the same objects. We use tables = exports when we did back when the tables = parameter could handle only 99 tables. We had a separate export for each table and then a set of exports to 99 tables for each of the other tasks run simultaneous processes of 6 to 12.

    One thing to look at is data history. Potentially some tables can be moved before the majority of the application objects and replaced by the synonym to remote objects.

    Really static tables could also be moved beforehand, even only a day or two before reducing the number of objects to move.

    Build the new database in noarchive log mode to save a treatment and he switch and immediately save when you migrate.

    And Yes, if the two platforms appear in the name of the view I gave you so you can use transportable tablespaces with the rman conversion step. Instructions for use rman to perform the conversion are in the manual of rman.

    You could try dropbox.com. It will be everything automatically synchronize you photos with the cloud dropbox.com store.  You can disable auto-sharing.  There is an option in the settings of dropbox in the app. You would then share your account with others.  You will need to see if you can share a folder read only with the free version.  You can acquire more control with the professional version.

    You must manually copy the pages in your dropbox app.

  • clusters of vSphere 4: servers with different RAM

    We have a vsphere 4 update 1 cluster with 9 servers inside CVS mode. The last 2 servers we added were based Nehalem and asked EVC mode since we couldn't not other models. The new nehalem servers have 36 GB of RAM each, and the other 32 GB of RAM each. We seek to bump the RAM in the nehalems to 96 GB for a little more life before moving on to a new generation of FARM we design.

    I noticed DRs takes much longer load (RAM wise) on the nehalem servers (upward in the order of 80-85%) while keeping the 32 GB servers throughout the range of 50-60.

    Is it normal or bad idea to have the servers in the cluster that do not match the specifications of others?

    Any advice or experience with this?

    Points are waiting for your reward!

    I think that you have no bad problem with that. Have in mind, only that your Sub 36 GB will serve as hosts of 32 GB will not be able to manage the memory all the costs of the 36 GB ones in case of failure of the HA - HA Yes will be somewhat more difficult to limit the number of VMs you will be able to marketing in all hosts If you have enabled HA and a strong constraint on the virtual machine powered on.

    With a lot of attention.    I just went through something similar myself.  This web site has been very useful: http://www.linuxnetadmin.com/2008/01/how-to-add-disk-space-with-lvm-on-linux.html

    The website above describe the steps when adding an additional drive, but the steps for extending on a new partition on the same disk should be similar.

    'Standard' OS X file system is not case sensitive. Although you can use upper and lowercase in a filename to the extent where the system is concerned 'Filename' and 'filename' are the same. So if you try to copy files with the same name regardless of the case so the copy will result in a dialog box asking if you want to replace a file of the same name.

    I guess in your case, your disks have been formatted with case-sensitive file system, and you should generally refrain from using a file system case-insensitive with OS X.

  • Help? With the help of file system Ext3 on key USB on Linux RT target

    We have been affected by problems with the SD cards and USB drives formatted in FAT32 on some devices, according to Linus RT of long-term monitoring (mainly the cRIO-9035). It seems that readers are vulnerable to fluctuations in current and unexpected reboots (which are inevitable on these sites). Write aborted operations make the damaged discs, thus sabotaging logging after reboot.

    We have identified two solutions; implement both gives the best redundancy:

    (1) installation of UPS (uninterrupted power supply for emergency supplies/batteries) - done

    (2) using the file system apparently more robust 'ext3', which is available on the target RT Linux (FAT32, ext2 and ext3) - don't have not so far:

    ->, I was not able to properly format a USB stick for ext3. I use the MiniTools Partition Manager and don't get any errors when create and format partitions. But they appear as 'read only' when it is inserted into the chassis of the RT. All attempts to access it, other than to observe the empty folder sdxx in ' / media "is returning errors.

    Someone had a bit of luck with the help of ext3 disks formatted as data drives on the objectives of the RT Linux? It is worthwhile to solve my problems or should I use FAT32 and the observed risk?

    I do not consider this but a temporary solution:

    I ran into issues when you use MiniTools Partition Wizard to partition and format my thumb on Win10 records. An unidentified change makes the inaccessible disks and freeze the browsing of file on the PC when I try to delete the partition. It was quite annoying!

    I decided to try another partition tool and went for the EaseUs Partition Master (free version for the moment). I formatted successfully one of the troublesome discs with it (to add some uncertainty to the solution, I used another brand sp * banking, new PC to do). The reader now mounted in read-write and allows the startup application create the I want to store files in folders.

    I'm very curious to know the difference between the tools of both partitions and their formatting...

  • Distributed with different hardware system

  • R610 SAS6IR with SSD RAID 1 file system Corruption

    Hi all!  I worked on a recurring problem with some Dell R610 servers upgraded with the ruhnning controller SAS6IR a pair of Kingston SSD 256 GB in a RAID1 configuration.  I have 5 of these servers and are all identical and all have the same issue, this is why I'm leaning - point anyway - more than a question of settings rather than material because I swapped around the servers as well as SSDS them has tested in a R710 and the question arises in all R610s but the 710 using the same disks is not the issue.

    Yes, on the real problem: corruption after being shut down the system of files and shut down by the operating system - not power failure or power button.

    I tried to use Ubuntu Linux, RHEL7, Windows Server 2 k 8 and I saw the question in the O/Ss Linux but not Windows - same XenServer worked perfectly after a weekend 4 days, which lends to thinking me it is on Linux.  All appears well in the main bios and 6IR as much as all the disks/RAID volumes and run diagnostics on readers shows that they are all in good health.  I can install and reboot until the cows come home, home and there is no problem.  But when I shut down the system completely (this is a test environment and not yet in in production environment) using the option to stop the operating system and with elegance stops the system and turning off the power, but not to disconnect the supply plug/UPS when I turn back - usually after be closed from one day to the next, but also did the same an hour or similarly - messages just fine and starts the boot sequence.  The matrix RAID and Volume is found, and the operating system starts the startup.  It was then that the system will come to a prompt instead of the graphical interface or will stop with an error of file system corruption saying there are some deleted inodes.  I am trying to download the Dell Diagnostic DVD and let's see what he comes up with, but this issue has been frustrating me for almost 2 months now that I struggle to find what is the cause.

    Any additional information required, please let me know.  Thank you in advance.

    Scott

    I discovered that it was indeed the RAID controllers in the R610.  The particular version of the PERC 6 was not compatible with the Ubuntu kernel and it managed the SSD correctly.  After their replacement by the PERC 6 / i with backup battery, all that survived a weekend stop.  Thanks for all the suggestions and help.

  • Difference between file system capacity and the capacity of the disks in Capacity Planner reports

    Hello

    I had to go on my Capacity Planner tool training soon, but I have a question on the front that frustrates me. In the evaluation report that comes out of the tool after the analysis, a use of disc section, which lists all the servers for analysis there. A column of this report is directed to file system capacity, another disk capacity. In all cases, the first is less than the latter. What is the exact meaning of these labels?

    Some of the numbers differ substantially between the columns, for example 20 GB for a capacity of 36 GB of disk space for a server and file system. He said that only 20 GB to 36 GB disk is formatted/partitioned to use?

    As previously stated:

    Disk capacity is 36 GB - physically, there are 36 GB of storage.

    File system is logical capacity - the amount of space used by files on the disks.

    File system and the capacity of the disks will never match because fees General table of file.

    I hope this helps.

  • Confusion with the file system OCFS2 OCR and voting disk RHEL 5, Oracle11g,

    Hi all

    I am trying to install the Oracle 11 g 3 node RAC database

    The environment on which I must make this implementation is as follows:
    Oracle 11g.
    Red Hat Linux 5 x 86
    Oracle Clusterware
    ASM
    Storage EMC
    250 GB of disk storage.
    SAN

    From now on, I am installing Oracle Clusterware on 3 nodes.

    I performed these tasks for cluster installations.

    1 configure the kernel parameters
    2 configure the user limits
    3 edit the /etc/pam.d/login file
    4 set up the groups and users to the operating system for Oracle Clusterware
    5. configure the environment Clusterware Oracle owner
    6. install the rpm CVUQDISK package
    7 configure the Hosts file
    8. check the network configuration
    9 configure SSH on all the Cluster nodes (equivalence of the user)
    9 enable SSH on all the Cluster nodes (equivalence of the user)
    10 installing Oracle Cluster File System (OCFS2)
    11. check the Installation of the (OCFS2) Oracle Cluster file system
    12 set the OCFS2 (/ etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf)
    13 set up the stack of Cluster O2CB for OCFS2

    BUT, here again the after that I'm a little confused on how to proceed. The next step is to format the disk and mount the OCFS2, directories of software... so, create etc.
    I asked my administration system to provide me with two partitions so that I could get in shape with the OCFS2 file system.

    He wrote telling me.

    * "Is what you want before I do it?" *

    * / dev/emcpowera1 is 3 GB and OCFS2.* format
    * / dev/emcpowera2 is 3 GB and OCFS2.* format

    * Those who are big enough for you? If not, I can re-size and re - format the *.
    * before I climb on the servers.*
    * the SAN is shared storage. / dev/emcpowera is one of the three LUNS on *.
    * storage is shared, and it is 214 GB. At the moment there are only two *.
    * partitions on it - the ones I have listed below. Can I repartition the LUN everything *.
    * as you want it.*
    * Where do you want that these climbs to: *.

    * / dev/emcpowera1 *.
    * / dev/emcpowera2 *.

    * I thought if this mounting technique would work as follows: *.

    * emcpowera1: / u01/shared_config/OCR_config *.
    * emcpowera2: / u01/shared_config/voting_disk *.

    * Let me know how you would like that mounted. » *

    Please recommend me what I should pass so that I can ask him exactly the same.

    My second question is, as we use the DSO, for which I'm going to configure ASM after clusterware installation, do I install Openfiler?
    PLS, check the environmental information that I provided above and make recommendations.

    As of now, I am using Jeffery hunters guide to install the entire installation. You think the installation guide everything is fine with my environment?
