Dllhost.exe and problem Windows 7 Thumbnail Preview

When I try to watch a folder that I did not open in a while to see the pictures on this particular machine, which is Windows 7 with full updates, I get nothing bug a white windows with only the name of the image where I should see a way the image thumbnail.  If I go to the Windows Task Manager, I noticed that dllhost.exe is running, but takes only about 25% cpu and about 16 MB of RAM, so its really not to do much.  However, when I finish the task dllhost.exe thumbnails show almost instantly.  Has anyone seen this problem or found a way to fix it?

Hi Lucas,.

Perform an upgrade on the spot and check if it works.

How to perform an upgrade on the spot on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2

Note: Make a backup of all your data on an external drive before you perform an upgrade in-place, as this could result in loss of data.

  • COM Surrogate (dllhost.exe) and question of loading folder

    Hi all

There are 2 problems that I think are related, but I could be wrong:

    1. Some files are loading very slowly (or even does not at all). The framework itself is displayed instantly, but the content is not and the Green loading bar in the address bar is.
    2. Surrogate COM (dllhost.exe) is always eat up to 13% of the CPU (so I guess that 100% of a wire with a processor of threads 4 cores x 2 I).

Running on Windows 7 x 64, all updates installed.

I saw a bunch of related issues here but with apparently different sources. I tried already to:

    • Run the System File Checker: no problem.
    • Run Microsoft Safety scanner: no problem.
    • Check the system drive to find errors: no problems.
    • Run Microsoft Fixit performance: some software/services launches at startup, but don't see any suspicious things.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much!

    Niranjan salvation!

And thank you for your fast answer :)

First of all, my problem is (partly) solved! But not exactly by doing what you suggested.

Pretty good for me and for the moment in any case. :)

    Let me explain:

As you suggest, I created a new user account, restarted the computer and connected with the new account. And Yes, magic, the problem did not appear.

So I happily spent at step 2 of your recommendation that would transfer all my data to this new account to use as the master account.

But while I was browsing windows to copy my data the problem reappeared.

So after some research and a few tests, I realized that the question was in fact a video file on my desktop. An .asf file to COM surrogate could not create a thumbnail *. Perhaps because of a mistake or missing codec? In any case, deleting, I solved the problem.

Hope this feedback will help others and I hope that will come a software fix.

    Best regards

    * The COM Surrogate is a fancy name for sacrificial processes for a COM object that is running outside the process which has asked. Explorer uses the COM Surrogate during extraction of thumbnails, for example. If you go to a folder with thumbnails enabled, Explorer will trigger a COM Surrogate and use it to calculate the thumbnails for documents in the folder. It does because Explorer has learned not to trust miniature extractors; they have a poor track record of stability.

  • Dllhost.exe - application error windows 7 what happens if upgrading to Windows 10

After a power failure that I realized when power has been restored that my computer had been left there on before the failure - 3 days now I get a dllhost.exe - application error message.   I have not installed any new programs or updated everything I know before the current problem.  My question is if I download the new Windows 10 will be cela correct/fix problem dllhost.exe - my computer currently the s running on Windows 7

I suggest that you enable restoring the system so that it is available the next time that you need.  Note that the system restore must be enabled on the operating system drive, there is no need to enable restoring the system on disks.

Regarding the dllhost.exe - application error message I suggest that you run a Malwarebytes and a TDSSKiller scan on the machine.  If these find no parasites, then don't look at the registry of the possible clues, this error can be caused by any software installed on the computer.

  • Question of running - y dllhost.exe and dllhost.exe processes * 32 (COM Surrogate) safe?

    Hello

I have a question about some process running for all users in the Task Manager.  I noticed the following:

    Dllhost.exe
    Dllhost.exe * 32 (COM Surrogate)

These processes are safe?  Dllhost.exe * 32 y remains fundamentally, but dllhost.exe comes and goes.  One or the other of these processes would be malware?

Many of the icons on my desktop and start menu are still empty, but the .exe has been reassociated. How to bring back the icons?

I don't know if there is anything else I should do and if the virus is still there. Norton said he got rid of av.exe, but how can I be sure?

And also, this virus affected all files outside the .exe?

  • Computer runs slowly, several instances of dllhost.exe and svchost.exe consumes large amounts of CPU and RAM, please help!

So it is currently 05:49 where I am right now and I've lost sleep over this issue these days.  My computer went from fast to slow apparently all night and I cannot understand why.  I downloaded Malwarebytes and ESET Nod 32 Antivirus free and I have Avira.  I have scoured the sysinternals Process Explorer and cannot find the root of the problem, and I just need someone better than me to help me with this problem.  I will follow all rules or guidelines, I'd really appreciate just for help!  Thank you!

I mean not kind of, but not in a concrete way.  I backed up all my hard drive on a USB of terra, reset my computer at the store settings, basically wiping and just re - download the essential.  In fact, it works better than ever, now that it is cluttered with.  It seems barbaric, but he did a lot.

  • Malware pcreg.exe and SupraSavings, windows 7

Security Essentials does not detect them. They also are allowed in the Windows Firewall. They are in the register but do not show under installed programs. I tried to download a malware program recommended too but stops working when it starts an analysis.

Can I delete everything in the registry?

    Are there other options?

Delete Adware & puppies with these tools. Check the updates first and then analyze with each of them at a time until your machine is clean.

  • It is normal to dllhost.exe 3 running at the same time?

I found 3 clocked dllhost.exe to thhe same time in windows 7 Professional is that normal or I have a virus?

    Hello

I wish to inform you that it is possible that the number of instances of dllhost.exe is running at the same time.

Dllhost.exe is the Windows DCOM DLL host process. It executes the DLL COM + and control processes in Internet Information Services (IIS). As such, is used by many different applications, including Visual Basic and .NET applications.

However, there are a lot of viruses under the same name and could easily infect a computer. Let us perform a full scan using Microsoft Safety Scanner mode without failure.

Download Microsoft Safety Scanner, start the computer using safe mode and run a full scan.

Safe mode is an option of troubleshooting for Windows that starts your computer in a limited State. Only basic files and drivers needed to run Windows are started.

Follow the link below to learn how to do it.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/is-is/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Run a virus scan complete and check if the problem is resolved.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a security tool free to download that allows demand analyses and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malicious software. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Warning: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Please get back to us with the State of the question.

    Hi KostyKrew,

I understand how it could be frustrating when things do not work as expected. Please, I beg you, don't worry I'll try my best to resolve the issue.

Follow these methods and check if that helps:

    Method 1:

    Step 1:

Check if you have the similar problem in safe mode, otherwise you can try to put your computer to a State of clean boot in normal mode and check if it works:

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Step 2:

Follow the article to perform the clean boot on the computer:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista and Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Warning: After using the boot is a way to solve your problem step 3 follow-up to reset the computer to start as usual.

    Method 2:

I suggest you to download and run the latest Microsoft security on the computer Scanner and check if it helps:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Please follow all the steps and if the problem persists, return back and we will be happy to help you.
