DMM trigger expire 2000msec

Hello

I use a DMM4070 and "SoftwareTriggeredMultipointAcquisition DotNet example."

I want to trigger the DMM4070 with the AuxTrig entry to the front of the instrument.

How can I change the time out the of triigger?

It is now on 2000msec. I want to set this to 10 sec.

When I us the example and do not trigger within 2 seconds, I get error message saying:

ModularInstruments.NIDmm: The operation did not complete in time maximum allowed. Timeout: 2000mS.
Error code:-1074126845

Thanks in advance

  • trigger expire in 2012 VBAI

    Goodmorning,

I VBAI have experienced lately, and I have a slight problem. When you use a hardware trigger I sometimes have a downtime.

My trigger is a 24V signal and my cam is a G201C of Manta (ally). (Look at this message below for the trigger parameters).

In NIMAX I can configure the time-out, but in my opinion, this is the maximum time between the trigger and the arrival of all the packets of data (acquisition of delay). I thought that in previous versions of the VBAI, we could also define a relaxing stop time (in the tab trigger). Problem is, however, that in VBAI2012 there is no longer a tab trigger. And in the attributes tab, I can't find the trigger time out.

Any ideas where I can put this trigger expire?

BTW: With trigger time off I mean the timeout if the there is not a trigger signal after some time. Here's where this used to be (http://www.ni.com/white-paper/6158/en)

    Here is my triggersettings.

    -TriggerSelector: AcquisitionStart

    -TriggerMode: on

    -TriggerSource: line1

    -TriggerActivation: RisingEdge

    -AcquisitionMode: multitrame

    -AcquisitionFrameCount: 1

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

OK, now I see the problem. The time-out is not an attribute of camera, it is an attribute of the pilot. If you click on the "Show all attributes" box and scroll up, there will be a section called the Acquisition attributes and provided for in this article. Sorry for the confusion and hope that helps. I hope to make a similar tab type of the trigger in the future for this step to make it easier to find all those attributes in the same place involved as we had during the stage of 1394 former.

    Thank you

  • Export the extent of DMM trigger

    Hello

I would like to export the trigger Signal, which I receive on channel 0 of the scope to a DMM in a PXI system.

So far, the scope is what I want it to do (Acquisition of 1 Record with a length of 550000 at a sampling frequency of 50 kHz with a 1 s pre-trigger).

I would need to know the value of the DMM measurement in the scope of triggerevent. For this, I have inserted the signal.vi 'export' to the scope and set it to trigger reference and as terminal output that I chose 'the trigger PXI 0/RTSI0 line. The digital multimeter, I put the command Source for "TTL0", which should correspond to the line on which I'am export the Signal of the scope.

But it does not work. The DMM sends the value as soon as I start the vi (she does not wait for the Triggerevent). If I choose 'none' as a signal to export in the scope, the DMM waits until he goes into a timeout. Do I have to configure something differently, or do I have to use the vi TCIk?

    Thanks for your contributions!

  • A scanner to trigger a DMM does

Can I implement a digitizer PXI-5102 to trigger a PXI-4060 DMM to acquire several measures?  The entry of the PXI-4060 DMM is used to communicate with SCXI cards in my 1050-PXI chassis, so I need to trigger the PXI-4060 DMM software.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes you can. You can route the trigger of the 5102 at the bottom of the basket and the PXI-4060 triggered from this line of tripping from the backplane.

  • Group execute Trigger on 2 DMMs

    Hello

I'm trying to use software trigger to trigger two Agilent 34401 DMM "simultaneously".  I found this article from 2007:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/how-do-I-use-visa-to-perform-get-Group-execute-trigger-to-three/m-p/...

However, the answer is less useful, because it does not address the issue.

What I'm trying to use is the function GPIB 488.2 Trigger List (such as recommended by NEITHER).  However, generating a list by program turns out a touch... interesting.

Given that the selection of the device is made using aliases VISA, I am trying to use a property node to retrieve the GPIB address.  As a temporary trial, I use a VI with the attached excerpt included code.  With DMM configured in GPIB0::6:INSTR and GPIB0::22:INSTR (but try this at home with no real hardware attached), my probe shows all the values of property as 0.

I tried the wrong approach?  Try this at the office with the DMM attached would produce a different result?  (I'll try again tomorrow anyway.)

    All comments would be appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Geoff

Try to work with the connected digital multimeters (and turned on), the primary address property returns exactly what I expect and the code snippet works - apparently - perfectly.

I had been struggling with getting the DMM to trigger and retrieve the measurements of the DMM.  I tried to use the 'Trigger' function, but it doesn't seem to work without additional steps to ensure that the right listeners are selected - so the function "basic list".  I also had problems of data recovery - partially because he was (probably) not trigger, but especially because I wasn't not wait long enough so that all samples must be collected.

For more information, this system has (by default, but configurable) 10 samples being played at intervals of 0.1 s, so you have to wait a second.  I could just have increased the timeout, but it's a bit messy.  Otherwise, I guess I could loop waiting for signals to be ready, but the driver for this DMM does not seem to include a query function.

The screw with a symbol of the timer on them simply contain a call to Wait (ms).  It's cleaner (in my opinion) that put in a frame.  Now that I have the work function, I also replaced the frame function timestamp and relaxation with a sub - VI.

  • Task Scheduler ignoring "expires" field of the trigger

I have set up a task to run a simple command (rundll32.exe with some settings) on Windows 7. The task is triggered by workstation unlock, has an expiration time/date (checked = active) and is enabled.  I set the timeout at 11:25 August 1, 2012, the time current 11:20 1 August 2012 and locked the workstation, then unlocked it. The evnt triggered very well. But when I blocked the workstation after 11:25, it triggered yet, even if the HELP says "expires: this parameter allows to set the date and time of the trigger to expire." When a trigger is expired, it cannot cause the task to run'.

The task history indicates for each time I've unlocked the workstation: task triggered unlocking > engine message received task to start the task > task started > Action began > created the task process > completed > completed.

It does not show errors or other messages, and the final message is stamped the same second as the first journal, so it is running and completed in less than a second.  So why is it always triggered when the present time > timeout?

    Any help appreciated, it's weird.

I have no way of telling if this is relevant to your case, but TechNet explains that, for the parameters of expiration - time is relative the time zone set on the computer that runs the task. Check the universal check box to make the time from universal time coordinated (UTC) instead of the time zone set on the computer that runs the task.  Did you accidentally check universal, perhaps?

  • Trying to send a software trigger to 5114

Greetings to all my friends on the set of the digitizer,

I try to send a software trigger to my digitizer 5114 in c# .NET.  There is no cable attached to the Commission, there is no signal going.  It works very well with the trigger set to "immediate".  However, I would like to make a trigger of software I test things.  It does not work - when I told FetchByte it crashes with a timeout.

Here's the basic gist of what I have in my code:

    PrecisionTimeSpan triggerHoldoff = PrecisionTimeSpan.Zero;

    PrecisionTimeSpan triggerDelay = PrecisionTimeSpan.Zero;

    scopeSession.Trigger.ConfigureTriggerSoftware (triggerHoldoff, triggerDelay);

    scopeSession.Measurement.Initiate ();

    scopeSession.Trigger.AdvanceTrigger.SendSoftwareEdgeTrigger ();       Is this good?

waveformByte = scopeSession.Channels [ChannelName]. Measurement.FetchByte (timeout, 1, waveformByte, out waveformInfo);  This request times out.

This looks good, or is there another way to set up a trigger of generic software, and then send it to the 5114?  Thanks for any thoughts.

    Kind regards

    Penny

    Penny,

Thank you for using the API OR-SCOPE of .NET 2.0 so soon after the release!

In order to respond to your question as to why worked scopeSession.Trigger.ReferenceTrigger.SendSoftwareEdgeTrigger () and scopeSession.Trigger.AdvanceTrigger.SendSoftwareEdgeTrigger ();  not be found in the help topics include file:

    http://zone.NI.com/reference/en-XX/help/370592V-01/digitizers/5122_state_model/

Your code has expired because he was in a State of pre of sampling, waiting for the trigger for reference.  Once the acquisition is completed, i.e. when (in yellow), he will wait for the trigger of the advance.  The advance trigger is used for multiple acquisitions records and allows you to wait between records.

This table is also useful because it shows all events that can be exported and triggers that can be imported to your scanner. (and when these triggers can be used).

    I hope that helps!

    Hey Sean,

Looks like we have a differential of 2 volts. We will use 2 wires 98 x 1 and the following connections:

    The help of switches:

On this basis, we can see in the lower right that CH0 + is pin 1 and CH0 - pin 2.  We need to hang the signal of 2 volts at pin 1 and pin 2 land.

We hang the DMM HI COM + (PIN NUMBER 173) and the DMM Lo-COM (PIN 174).

Now all we have to do is open switch Soft blanks Panel ('start' programs' National Instruments' OR-Switch), select topology (98 x 1 2 son) and connect CH0 to Com.  If we take a DMM measure, we should now read 2 volts.

Now that we have all this work, we will make it faster by using the example of transfer protocol you mentioned previously:

Suppose we want to connect channel 0 to com, take a measure, then connect the way com 1, take a measure, and then connect track 2 com, etc. all the way up to channel 15 to com.  A scan list that performs this operation is: "ch0-> com; CH1-> com; CH2-> com; Ch3-> com; CH4-> com; CH5-> com; CH6-> com; CH7-> com; CH8-> com; CH9-> com; Ch10-> com; CH11-> com; Ch12-> com; ch13-> com; CH14-> com; CH15-> com; ».

We can simplify this scan to help list of ':', the following: ch0:15-> com  This is equivalent to the same actions as above, but is much easier to watch.  I hope this is enough information to get started.  Let us know if you have any questions.  Have a great day!

  • Prevention of timeout to trigger

Hi, I use the 1427 OR with a camera NIR Goodrich 640 x 512.  We use an external source to trigger the camera and the time between two pulses of trigger is sometimes longer than the time-out for the camera (I immediately the value 2000 ms).  I would fix rather a delay of 10 seconds for the camera and I was wondering if there was some funciton of that I could call before calling the imaqGrab function to see if the camera has actually aqcuired a picture and was ready to be "seized."  Thank you!

    @FeralPhys:

I think you can set the timeout much higher. In fact, we have several projects where the expiration time is set to infinity.

The question is, how do stop you grabbing, while he is indefinitely stuck waiting and you must stop the application. You can do this by making a loop of parallel execution, which close the session IMAQ if stop condition. After the closure of session IMAQ, IMAQ Grab stops with an error (which you can easily manage).

We use this approach generally with IMAQdx, but I think that it works with the same way IMAQ.

  • PXI-4071 sampling too slow when using a hardware trigger

We use 3 PXI - 4071 s in parallel to measure with accuracy of high voltages. The program is written using LabVIEW 8.5.1.

An additional test condition has been added which requires the use of a quadrature decoder and the synchronous DMM.

We thought it would be simple, using backplane trigger 0.

    However, something odd happens.

With a low-cut VI that uses a single DMM, we get 100 microseconds time to sample running with internal triggers. However, if the overall relaxation or trigger of the sample is set to TTL0, the sample time becomes so 5.1 milliseconds. It seems very strange that even just definition of overall relaxation, expected to affect only the time of the first sample, not the time between samples, has that effect. The plug for the DMM also said, that the maximum trigger rate is of 6 kHz.

We have confirmed this reported sample time is independent of the speed of the clock actually connected to TTL0. If the clock is faster, it gets the reported sample time. If it's slower, the samples occur on the edges of the clock.

Does anyone know if there is a parameter that has a default that changes based on the source of command and can be changed to work around this problem, you?

I found the solution to this.

Over time the value-1, the DMM uses a short value (less than 100 US) to set hour when, in modes triggered internally. However, he used much longer (about 5 ms) when the value - 1 and with the help of a hardware trigger.

If the running-in is set to 1e-5, i.e. 10 microseconds, "the estimate" returned for conversion period goes from 5.1 ms 100, we and conversions actually occur at a rate set when clocked with trig 0-5 kHz

  • Help with PXI OR 4070 DMM and OR PXI MUX 2501

    Dear alls,

Sorry to post a simple question, but I couldn't understand it.

My PXI1033 chassis has NI 4070 Flexdmm and NI PXI MUX 2501, block of connection OR-TB2605, 1 thread by MAX-mode configuration.

I'm trying to measure 3 voltages (from 2V to 5V) by connecting them to ch0, ch1, ch2 MUX2501 (Terminal screw for example 67,66,65 and common screw terminal 27).

Any device passes self-test to the MAX.

I then use NOR-DMM/Switch Express, swap the added devices and also scan list.

Trigger is PXI; Handshake (PXI trigger 0 and 1 PXI trigger)

However, I could not measure all the signals.

I also try with other examples in LabVIEW help, but have still no results.

    Am I missing something?

And, although the trigger section is very clearly explained, I have no idea how the DMM to run his measure through switching and multiplexing. How DMM connected MUX?

I noticed that the DMM and the switch share the same trigger bus (two of them bus trigger 1), but their local buses are different (DMM: local bus left/right = 2, 4, and buses premises MUX left/right = 3.5)

    Your advice is much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Van.

    Lonestar thanks!

  • Handshaking DMM with multiple switching devices - DAQmx error

    Hello.
I am trying to create a loop of the handshake with DMM (PXI-4071), SWITCH (PXI-2569) and MUX (PXI-2575). The three instruments are in segment 2 chassis PXI-1045 (locations, 8, 9 and 10) and I use the ways of PXI trigger in the triggers of the route.
I followed the article NOR 'Multimodule Scanning with National Instruments switches' - I modified the example NI SWITCH "niSwitchDMMSwitchHandshaking" to set up another SWITCH, but when I tried to run the example, I got an error:

0xbffa6b9a - no lines recorded could be found between the device in the road.
(screenshot pop up is in the attachment). It is the function of niSwitch_InitiateScan to the second switch that returned an error.

PIX trigger change has no effect.
I tried the CVI and LabVIEW examples with the same result.
I even tried to use two 2575 MUXes - same result.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

    Hi Pavel,

I checked that the component that controls the routing of the TTL for the PXI is included in NOR-DMM 3.0.2 (latest version as of 06/14/2010).  NOR-DMM 3.0.1 contains an older version of the TTL routing code and will therefore place several comprehensive lines scanning advanced on the same trigger.

Unfortunately, the component which controls TTL routing is one of the constituent elements of the software installed OR lower, and thus we do not expose it to the user.  For that to work, we would need to uninstall almost all the software components of NOR, which is a major undertaking.  Here's what I recommend instead:

For now, we will Garland triggers one switch to another.  This will allow us to start development in OR-Switch; as soon as OR distributes a program, you simply change the triggers as they all point to the same TTL line.  This will allow switches to operate in parallel rather than in series, and the passage of the switch of your project can run faster.

If we have to absolutely exploit the switches at the same time, I would recommend either uninstall all software of OR or get a machine with a fresh install of XP and then install not newer than 8.9.5, OR DMM 3.0.1 DAQmx software and NI - Switch3.8.

As I mentioned earlier, NEITHER is aware of breaking backward compatibility and we are committed to reintroduce the old features in a future release of the pilot.

Keep this thread bookmark and post back in a month or two and I'll let you know if we have any updates.

    Have a great day!
