DNS server is not accessible

Hello

Here's my problem. IM using Windows XP Professional on my PC and high-speed Internet ACCESS.

I planed one as server and gain access to the internet with another server in a LAN based network.

I used Eternet ADSL cable to connect to my server, then use another NIC to the LAN.

LAN network successfully established and I have granted full access to the server that I decided, and I share internet through this connection successfully, even when I ping 4.2.2.4 as main road access to the internet, it gets all of packes, which means that I have access to the internet, but I can't visit a website in my internet Explorer , means Server DNS is not yet shared!

Server have no problem like this.

What should I do now? Am I missing something?

That's would be 'Card Ethernet connection to the Local network' to the DNS server, if I understand correctly.

in some ways, I put it manually in the settings of 'Internet Protocol' of 'Connection to the Local network' in this way:

Preferred DNS server: 4.2.2.4

Auxiliary DNS server: [of my ADSL IP Modesm]

and then move the problem. Now I can visit a Web site with my internet browsers.

Thanks for help.

  • How can I keep a connectivity when the DNS server is not available?

We have remote locations with several computers that are joined to our domain via a gateway to gateway VPN. When VPN breaks down, they lose the connection to our CD/DNS server. Their ip addresses remain the same, since they are managed by their local router but they failed to connect to other devices to their location even though the devices have static IP addresses. If I understand the use of the LMhosts file must allow me to allow them to keep local communications between computers. I think the entry in LMHOSTS should be like this for each local machine they need to access.

  • The DNS server is not responding.

Just bought this WRT160N a few days ago, I implemented and no problems now, randomly, I can't the internet to work, every once in awhile, he will work for a few minutes, then it will return new.  When I troubleshoot Windows, I have "the DNS server is not responding" * detected * this computer is located on a wired connection to my router, and is currently the only computer connected to my router.  The connection works fine when I run the cable directly from my modem to the computer (which im doing now) any help would be greatly appreciated!

To upgrade the firmware of your router, you don't need to be connected to Internet... Just connect the Modem to the computer and download the firmware on your router... Once you have downloaded the firmware on your router... Connect the Modem to the router on the Internet Port and connect the computer to the router Linksys on Port n ° 1... Follow the instructions I mentioned in my previous post, how to upgrade the firmware on your router... Once the firmware is upgraded successfully... Press and hold the button of reset for 30 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...

  • Unable to connect to the internet, the dns server is not responding

    Hello

It is the second system I've seen in the last two weeks with this question, I reloaded the OS on the first.  The system is Windows Vista Ultimate x 64.

That is the problem.  Open Internet Explorer 9 on a Windows 7 PC, you get the message:

Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage

Click on diagnose connection problems, you get the following:

The DNS server is not responding

Look at a detailed information your told to contact your network administrator (this is me - no other XP or Windows 7 PC on the network has a connection problem).

    Below that is the message:

Your computer is trying to use a DNS server that is incorrect or does not exist.

Note that this is a laptop that has started on another network with the same problem.  I took it to my office to solve problems.  My DNS server is a WIndows SBS 2003 server.

Below that is a log file of etl you cannot open (Notepad considers undesirable, much of the use that is).

The steps I did to try to resolve the problem.

    Virus system scan

There is no hosts file, I've recreated which.

The static value IP and DNS.

I can ping the DNS server by its IP address, but not by name.

I put the DNS address to 208.67.222.222

    Restored network drivers

    Reininstalled all network drivers

    Disable Microsoft Virtual WiFi adapter

    Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Hello

My computer is stuggling to access internet, I get this message - your computer seems to be configured correctly, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding).  All the other computers in my house are connected without difficulty.  Any suggestions?

    Thank you

I solved the problem.  When my router lost power, somehow the addresses changed if the IP address of the Dell Wireless computer is no longer fell in the pool of addresses maintained by the router.  When I've reconfigured by router and had released and renewed my IP on the Dell computer, everything started working again.

I continued with the installation and soon found that it happened too much to the network from the router, and none of them does not seem to work. Original title: renamed networks and will not work

Check if your modem has a built-in router.  If so, it should be disabled until your router works.  If this is a new router, contact the manufacturer of the router.  They will help you.

It is not likely a problem on your computer.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description of the problem, I understand that you can not connect to the network on your computer.

I can understand how frustrating it can be when things do not work as expected.

To better understand this issue, I would like to know the following information:

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    2. did you of recent changes to the computer before this problem?

    3. you receive an error during the network connection code failed?

DNS (Domain Name System) translates the URL in IP (Internet Protocol) addresses (and vice versa). For example, if you type http://www.microsoft.com into the address bar in your web browser, your computer sends a request to a DNS server. The DNS server translates the URL to an IP address so that your computer can find the Microsoft web server.

We will try the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you clear the DNS cache and see if that fixes the problem. Clear the DNS cache forces DNS to query a DNS server rather than using the information stored in the cache.

    Follow these steps:

    a. click on the 'Start' button.

b b.. in the search box, type "command prompt"

    c. in the list of results, click on invite and then click on run as administrator

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    d. at the command prompt, type ipconfig/flushdns

Restart the computer and see if that fixes the problem.

Method 2: If you still have questions, I suggest you refer to the suggestions of Meghmala responded on 28 June 2011 from the link below.
