Do a right click in the Project Explorer is sometimes slow

I have a big project of the AF with a lot of classes and libraries. I only really use these two (lvclass and lvlib) to structure and organize the project. Right click on VI sometimes takes a terribly long time to load, say up to 10 seconds, depending on the library/class. It appears to be vaguely related to how many things the owners have libraries/classes. What exactly is causing this loading time? Any ideas how I could get rid of this significant disadvantage?

Here is more information and a few thoughts:

  • Windows 8.1
  • LabVIEW 2015 / 32 bit (I can't say for sure, but I think that I had no such problem on earlier versions 2014 and 2013)
  • Mass of compilation of all of the project (taken as 2 hours) had no effect

Thanks for all the ideas and resources. I'm very, very happy to announce that this particular fix https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-44159 (fix for the issue of AF project provider performance) made my problem disappear. Time has been reduced from ~ 7 sec less than a half second. Wonderful! That, to me, proves false the idea that the mere fact of having hundreds of classes or a large AF would make your current IDE experience terrible.

    BuggyG,
I saw that error and even if it says access denied it will actually save your changes.  After you disable all move forward and apply then restart and see if it kept the changes.  If it's not then I hope that you are able to borrow a disc it would in time look for resettlement. Hello

Try running windows System Restore - choose a restore point at least 24 hours before the occurrence of the problem with the context menu.

A guide on the implementation of this can be found on the following link.

  • When I right click Start button select Explorer, I can decide what folder is open other than the start menu?

When I right click Start button select Explorer, I can decide what folder is open other than the start menu and dozens of file extensions?

Can we just my computer with the list of drives?

    thanx

    Hello

I suggest you to follow these steps and check if that helps:

    a. right click on the Windows Explorer icon

    b. in the menu that appears, click Properties.

    c. in the target box, add the command line switch ' / root ' to the "% SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe" command, using the startup location that you want.

    d. for example, if you want Explorer of Windows to start at the root of drive C, edit the command as follows:
    % SystemRoot%\explorer.exe/root, C:\

    It will be useful.

Add a network printer (add printer vs right-click-> Connect)

Hey just have a quick question that I can't find anywhere.

To add network printers is there a difference through the add printer from the Menu then opening just the print server in the Explorer, and then right-click on the printer you want and pressing on connect?

    Hello Doughty08,

No, there is no difference. Both methods will install the same printer available driver and the two will work the printer even.

  • Explorer Windows has stopped working when I right click on the files

When I need to click with the right button on folders, windows Explorer has stopped working.

up to now, still can't use the right click menu ~.

Yes, it's the details of the problem.

Unfortunately, it does not identify the failing module.

At this point, it may be useful to try to capture a dump of user of the explorer.exe crash mode.

You can configure Windows to create dumps of user mode. First, create a System Restore Point.

If you copy and paste the following text in Notepad and save it as a .reg file, then right click on the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, when the .dmp file explorer.exe plant should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows error Reporting\LocalDumps\explorer.exe]
    "DumpFolder" = hex (2): 43, 00, 3A, 00, 5 c 00, 43, 00, 72, 00, 61, 00, 73, 00, 68, 00, 44, 00, 75,.
    00, 6 D, 00, 70, 00, 73, 00, 00, 00

After Explorer (explorer.exe) crashes, you can, and then make the .dmp file available (provide the link) via Windows Live SkyDrive or similar site?

The following link has information about the use of Windows Live SkyDrive:

Frustration with malfunction of right-click, I did a clean and added hardware installation and software point by point. Right-click crashed the computer as soon as I updated Bit Defender 2010. The problem has disappeared as soon as I uninstalled Bit Defender and installed AVG. Checked with forum user Bit Defender and, Yes, they know the problem.

  • Right click in the shell of the BONE causes the crash of Explorer and restart

I am one of those who have a problem with Explorer crashing when I right click in the Win 7 OS shell.

When I right click on an element (for example, file, folder, library, shortcut in the start menu,...) explore hangs frequently... showing a message box and then finally by displaying a different message (with a progress bar) that explore restarting.  The issue is sporadic.  It happens regularly during a certain period, and then it may not happen again for a little while.

The issue started on my 64-bit Win 7 Pro system after a clean installed.  I had also installed other software (end versions on the web... not old code).  So, I started uninstalling things... and also used ShellExView disable each contextual menu non-Microsoft extension... and it happened again.

So, I rebuilt my system again... from scratch... clean install... and then settle with just three things:

    (1) I hosted Windows Update
    (2) I added the latest version of Avast antivirus (free)
    (3) I installed the latest version of Firefox

.. .and boom... Explorer crashed again in the same way.

Others say that this problem occurring on a vanilla full Win 7 installation with nothing else installed... which none of the third-party drivers.  I met dozens of people have reported the problem.  Here are a few recent reports:

    http://www.SevenForums.com/crashes-debugging/34826-right-click-Desktop-causing-Explorer-exe-crash.html
    http://www.SevenForums.com/performance-maintenance/19169-right-click-causes-Explorer-crash-fix.html
    http://www.SevenForums.com/crashes-debugging/22061-Windows-Explorer-crashing-right-click-under-x64-RTM.html

Several people have analyzed using various tools of profiling and dump and all signs point to the corruption of the heap... and the data looks as Explorer retires upon itself not a third-party component doing... but we don't have the source code to find the specific problem.

Obviously, there is a problem... and we would be grateful, at least, something that looks like 'we are aware of the problem and are addressing it. "

    Thank you.

    see you soon,
    Steve

Unfortunately the guys I dropped and reloaded but my apps will be the same in the list but I will not load anything on this machine, but the basic principles until I am sure that the problem has disappeared.

For now, I have this installed

all the default drivers but a newer version of the Intel AHCI drivers

    Opera
    Firefox
    Flash
    Java
    Kaspersky Internet Security
    Trillian

That's all I'll keep until this thing is running at least 3 days or more without an Explorer of the accident. If it crashes again as before, I will go back to Vista and don't move not not for Win7 until Service Pack 1 and I build my next machine. I can't spend every day on this and I don't want to. If it comes to Windows (which I strongly think that it is after all that) so it's quite sad, it's something like that got behind testers.

I wonder if the 32-bit version would be more reliable and it's just a x 64 issue?

I'll keep posted guys... Thank you

  • File Explorer Windows 8 crashes whenever I do a right click on the USB key.

File Explorer Windows 8 crashes every time I do a right click on installed - everything - USB or flash key and try to choose options, such as format, rename them or properties.  Windows Explorer crashes, closed its doors, and I'm sent back to the Start Page.  This happens with any USB key, on one of the ports on my computer, which I have at least 10.

I can left click on USB in the file Explorer, and held one still able to open or interact with any file in the USB. I can save to the USB port of any other program, and I can usually eject it in the taskbar. The only problem is I can't do a right click on the USB key and select a function without kicks back to the start page and the file Explorer is restarted.

My version of Windows 8 is an upgrade to Windows 7.  I have already tried a restart secure, and even in this State, the accident continues.

I had the same problem with any flash/stick/key USB on my system (64-bit) Windows 8 Pro. I started out of the blue, had not installed a new software or updates. I couid do a right-click on the drive and get the menu, but any action in the menu I chose stop and restart Windows Explorer (without any error message.) I also tried the cleanboot approach with no luck.

The solution that worked was to move the mouse to the bottom left of the screen and right click.
    Select prompt (Admin)
    in the cmd window, type:
    sfc/scannow
    and press ENTER.
After about 15 minutes (about 4 minutes to check and then a little more than 11 minutes waiting while he was working in the background - but it seemed frozen. My system is an i7, 16 GB of Ram, 512 GB SSD drive - so your time may vary), I received a message that some corrupt files had been repaired and some had not. The newspaper was in a txt file in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS if the log file was inaccessible. I got a popup access denied .
I rebooted the system and everything was fine and the problem of USB has been fixed.

  • Unable to right-click on the NI PCI 8532 in MAX

Running Windows 7 64 bit, Labview 2012, OR DNET 1.6.7

When I get MAX and access devices and Interfaces I try 'right click' on the map in order to follow the implementation process, as stated in the manual OR DNET. Nothing happens. I can't right click. This is not a right click. Any help would be good.

    1. start the Configurator OR DNET

Follow these steps to start the Configurator:

    1. launch Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)

    2. in MAX, select your card CAN under my system > devices and Interfaces.

    3. change the Protocol Device-NET by right click on the card BOX...

    Hi Paul,.

Sorry to give you the redundant steps, at least we know that you configure the software properly. At this point, the card must be ready to use. What should you get your application to do? There is a project of "DeviceNet PXIPCI base" in the example finder that shows current operations.

  • How to create a Global Variable through the Project Explorer

    Hello world!

I know how to create a global variable (in a vi through the range of functions...).

but I'm missing a way to create one via the Project Explorer.

It's a missing feature or just this documentation (and the intuition of myself) are missing?

    It would be very convenient.

THX for your time and hope that answers.

Right click on my computer > new > new... > select Global Variable.

EDIT: although I agree with Gerd (he probably wondering why you need so we can recommend a better way ), I rarely use them in easy to write once - read many applications such as security levels overall program at initialization (VER) to read later, but NOT modified.  I know it would be better to make a good class, functional Global Variable (FGV) or a motor Action (AE) but globals ARE practical and safe IF used wisely.

  • Police in the Project Explorer problem

I'm under LabVIEW 2013 SP1 and I just installed DAQmx 9.8. After installation, it seems that something has changed with my fonts throughout LabVIEW. Fonts keep intersect or cropped. This applies to everything from the start screen, in the Project Explorer to some of my VI font sizes. I went and checked my settings 'System of the police' and 'Application' but does not seem to solve the problem. See the attached picture

He ended by referring to the display settings of Windows 7. For example do a right-click on the desktop, select Personalize, and then select "display". The window scaling system at Large and I had to change in the medium.

Perhaps, I got a quick access key when installing DaqMX. Very strange, but now its fixed.
